The man
soon to become the City's top regulator, Andrew Bailey, says free banking is
bad for banks and customers, because it hides the true costs of banking
services.
By all means charge the costs of banking to customers but the problem is
actually the criminal behaviour of bankers. Free banking is a carrot to appease
the foolish public and behind the scenes, bankers have been criminal in their
management of the public’s money that is used to reward themselves fabulously
and used in risky lending and betting enterprises (eg betting on commodity,
currency markets, funding share buying and issues).
IT IS A FORM OF DENIAL AND DELUSION, DIVERTING ATTENTION FROM THE ACTUAL
CRITICAL BANKING PROBLEMS. BY ALL MEANS PASS COSTS TO THE PUBLIC BUT MAKE SURE
THE BANKERS ARE SUPERVISED SCRUPULOUSLY AND BROUGHT TO ACCOUNT FOR THEIR
TERRIBLE STEWARDSHIP OF PEOPLE’S MONEY ENTRUSTED TO THEM. WHAT HE IS DOING IS
BARKING UP THE WRONG TREE NOT WITHOUT PURPOSE BUT TO DIVERT ATTENTION FROM THE
FESTERING, GANGRENOUS CARCASS OF BANKING.
The
costs of malfeasance far outweigh free banking:
Free banking may be a dangerous myth but banking is in safe, competent
hands, is an even more fatal dangerous myth.
If you are talking of costs then surely the costs of bankers’
skulduggery or malfeasance is far outweighs.

treachery:
A Pakistani doctor is sentenced to at least 30 years in jail for a
false vaccination programme which helped the US find and kill Osama Bin Laden.
It is a form of treachery, tricking that has deadly karma to those
involved to tout a program to catch Bin Laden as a bona fide vaccination
programme. Just because Bin Laden is evil does not justify treachery and it
shows America is not good but evil.
NO TREACHERY IS JUSTIFIED UNLESS YOU WANT TO GO TO HELL. THE TREACHEROUS

US cuts Pakistan aid over
jailing of 'Bin Laden doctor'
A US
Senate panel says it is cutting $33m in aid to Pakistan after the jailing of a
Pakistani doctor who helped the CIA find Osama Bin Laden.
If it is aid, it is unconditional, irrevocable and the act of revoking
the aid means it has strings attached, has provisos that Pakistan is beholden
to the US and so it is a bribe in the guise of aid.
ALL THIS TALK OF AID SOUNDS NICE BUT IT IS HYPOCRISY, THE AID HAS
STRINGS ATTACHED IN THAT PAKISTAN TOES THE US LINE AND IT IS WITH MONEY THE US
PRINT WITH IMPUNITY AND MAY BE SO MUCH TOILET PAPER. IT IS NOT AS IF THE US
EARNED THE MONEY IT GIVES AS ‘AID’. REVOKING AID IS GOING BACK ON YOUR WORD THAT HAS SERIOUS
CONSEQUENCES IN KARMA.
ONCE AID IS GIVEN IT SHOULD NOT BE TAKEN BACK BECAUSE IT IS GOING
AGAINST YOUR WORD WITH PUNISHMENT DUE.

The man

Unexpected
unnecessary havoc for me:
I was in the middle (40%) of a very laborious download for the Android
Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade for my phone via my home computer when power supply,
which has never failed for a long time decided to fail and it somehow
obliterated my router settings.
And so I had to reset my router but I could not find my manual but I
managed to download a copy from the internet using my handphone’s broadband as
access.
However Aztech’s instructions are very poor and confusing and I had a
morning of frustrations wherein I could not get internet access before I
finally discovered what was wrong.
Actually it is very simple resetting a router but Aztech’s instructions
are very poor.
All you need after accessing the website given is fill in the user name
for your internet provider (eg teon@streamyx) and the password, give a name and
password for your network.
However Aztech just stated ppp (point to point protocol) username and
password and did not tell the user what it meant. Surely they should have given
an example or explained your internet access account user name and password.
Because it was not stated, I did not change it from the default entries
and try as I might I could not get internet access even when the internet light
was on indicating internet access.
THE AZTECH MODEM ROUTER IS ACTUALLY VERY SIMPLE TO SET BUT THE
INSTRUCTIONS ARE VERY BAD, THEY HAD FILLED IN THE PPP USERNAME AND PASSWORD
WITH A STANDARD ONE AND SO I THOUGHT I WOULD LEAVE IT ALONE OR IT MEANT THE
NAME OF MY NETWORK AND PASSWORD WHEN PPP STANDS FOR YOUR INTERNET PROVIDER USER
LOG ON NAME AND PASSWORD.
I HAD UNSUCCESSFULLY DOWNLOADED THE ANDROID MANY TIMES AND EACH TIME I
HAD TO START AT THE BEGINNING ALL OVER AGAIN UNLIKE MICROSOFT WHERE YOU RESUME
FROM WHERE THE DOWNLOAD REACHED. IN THIS RESPECT ANDROID IS CRUDE.

modem router programming saga:
People may think they understand what they do but it may be delusion
than reality. When they follow instructions to set up a modem router they are
doing it as instructed seldom if ever truly understanding what they are doing
and when they write step by step instructions telling purchasers how to set
their modem routers they do not truly understand what they are doing and so
they make things appear more complicated than it needs be.
The (wireless) relationship between a computer WLAN card/modem and a
router is standardized and any computer or laptop with WLAN card will
automatically communicate with any wireless modem router in range and so
when you install a new modem router, you need to make your computer communicate
with the new router and basically tell the router to use your username and
password to establish a link with your internet service provider (eg streamyx)
and then you need to give a name to the wireless network operated by the router
and set a password so that only authorised users can access.
Thus when you type 192.168.1.1. on your web browser the information is
automatically communicated wirelessly between your computer’s WLAN
transmitter-receiver and received by the modem router which prompts it to
generate a Aztech webpage wherein you can fill in various details in order for
the router to work. All you need is tell the router your user name and password
with your internet service provider and then set a name and password for your
wireless network. Everything is pretty standardized for the vast majority of
users and do not need tinkering.

BY NOT EXPLAINING WHAT ‘PPP SETTING’ MEANS AND PRE FILLING USERNAME WITH
‘USER’ AND PPP PASSWORD WITH ‘****’, AZTECH IS UNNECESSARILY CONFUSING THE
NOVICE THAT MAYBE IT SHOULD BE LEFT AS IT IS WHEN YOU ARE REQUIRED TO FILL IN
YOUR SERVICE PROVIDER USERNAME AND PASSWORD.
THUS AZTECH’S OVERSIGHT IN PRESUMING EVERYONE KNOWS WHAT ‘PPP’ STANDS
FOR AND THEN IN MISCHIEVOUSLY FILLING IN THE BLANKS WITH ‘USER’ AND ‘****’ LED
TO UNNECESSARY TROUBLE FOR THE USER.
AZTECH DID NOT UNDERSTAND WHEN THEY INSTRUCT USERS IN AN UNNCESSARILY
COMPLICATED WAY HOW TO SET UP. IF THEY TRULY UNDERSTOOD THEY WOULD HAVE
UNDERSTOOD THAT THE USER ONLY NEED TO SUPPLY THE ROUTER WITH HIS INTERNET
SERVICE PROVIDER USERNAME AND PASSWORD AND THEN NAME AND PROVIDE A PASSWORD FOR
HIS WIRELESS NETWORK.
WHEN PEOPLE SET UP THEIR NETWORK, THEY DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHAT THEY ARE
DOING. ESSENTIALLY EVERYTHING IN STANDARDIZED AND AUTOMATIC, ANY COMPUTER WITH
WLAN CARD AND ANY ROUTER IN RANGE WILL INSTANTLY COMMUNICATE AND ALL YOU NEED

The
crazy Android upgrade process:
It must be nearly 20 times that my download of the Samsung Android ICS
upgrade was aborted by various things like ‘time-out’ and I had to start all
over again.
I think the file is about 300 MB and it takes a few hours to download
and somehow something happens and the process is aborted.
Surely the Android people should devise some means where what has been
downloaded already is saved and you resume download from where you left off.

that mankind is heading for (certain) mass global unemployment that will rend

Many jobs/industries/corporations are actually totally unnecessary and
unaffordable because they are overpaid and they are funded by debt not true
wealth and this debt has been allowed to build to deadly crushing system
threatening levels through indifference and delusion and so the time is coming
when there is a reckoning because a destabilizing proportion of the wealth is
now in the hands of the few whilst the majority is now foolishly in debt or its
savings squandered by bankers and politicians and whatever jobs there are, are
now outsourced to low cost countries like China, Vietnam, Indonesia. When the
system’s wealth has been depleted and there is a trickle of wealth left to
transfer, capitalists have no incentive to hire and they have no hesitation to
fire workers to preserve their pile of wealth that they decline to lend to the
system for fear of default. And so there will be a standoff between the wealthy
minority and the impoverished jobless masses and the natural tendencies of
human goats is to resort to violence, to destroy and take revenge.
All the ‘lovely’ infrastructure you see around, fancy posh
houses/factories and offices, posh roads, bridges, stadiums and airports are
not symbols of great wealth or productivity but symbols of great massive
unsustainable consumption, unpayable debt because they are overpriced beyond
realistic ability to repay.
AS SURE AS NIGHT FOLLOWS DAY, THE PAST EXTENDED BOOM IS MANKIND GOING
FOR BROKE USING PEOPLE’S MONEY AND NOW IT IS BROKEN, EXPERTS LIKE KRUGMAN
PROPOSE WE SPEND SOME MORE ON THE SAME UNSUSTAINABLE USELESS, EXTRAVAGANT

The
Olympics is unaffordable and unnecessary:
Looking in retrospect, Greece could not afford to host the Olympics

to program others:
“Always look on the bright side” is a form of programming that appeal to
people who are robots, who need programs to tell them what to do. Because it is
never a happy existence being a robot but it is tormenting, whoever issues
programming or instructions intended for others to adopt is asking for karma.
Hard
to resist driving it hard?
Quote: It (Fiat
2 cylinder engine) sounds like a mix between a moped and an old American
muscle-car so it is hard to resist driving it hard.
What he is saying is that he has a programmed urge to drive a vehicle
hard or abusively and the ‘seductive’ sound of the engine triggers his urge to
drive it hard or abusively.
The person of true reason has no urge to resist that can be triggered by
the sound of the engine. What he sees is a need or not to push the engine to

Looming
tsunami of global corporate refinancing:
Here is another reminder of more financial woe confronting an already
troubled world financial system.
Not just nations and people are in terrible debts, even companies who
should be thriving capitalist bastions are heavily dependent on massive debt to
survive and they are facing a looming debt refinancing crisis.
Debt crisis: a $46 trillion
problem comes sweeping in
Bad stuff, they say, comes in threes. We've already
got the banking and the eurozone sovereign debt crises. Next comes the
corporate funding crisis.
In its
analysis of the refinancing challenge, S&P concedes that it might just
about be possible for the banking system to cope with the wave of corporate
debt maturities, assuming no further deepening of the eurozone crisis. But
providing the $13 trillon to $16 trillion of new money to spur growth is going
to be a much bigger ask, especially in Europe.

Just as
you thought things couldn't get any worse, credit markets are about to be hit
by a veritable tsunami of maturing corporate debt. Standard & Poor's
estimates that companies in Europe, the US and the major Asian economies
require a combination of refinancing and new money to fund growth over the next
four years of between $43 trillion and $46 trillion. The wall of maturing debt
is unprecedented, raising the prospect of further, extreme difficulties in
credit markets.
With the
eurozone debt crisis still at full throttle, the Chinese economy slowing fast
and a still tepid US recovery, it's not clear that the banking system is in any
position to deal with this incoming wave of demand.
As if the
refinancing problem wasn't already challenging enough, into it all stumbles the
European commissioner for internal markets, Michel Barnier, to prove the old saw
that there is no mess quite so bad that official intervention won't make even
worse.
A
traditionalist French socialist by background, Mr Barnier positively revels in
his job as the EU's top financial services regulator. In a recent interview, he
said that he liked the term "shareholder spring" because it implied
"a regulation spring, a rule making spring". Yes, indeed, Mr Barnier
likes very much rules and regulations. He wants to regulate everything from pay
to solvency. The financial crisis has given him a wide open canvass on which to
paint.
After a
crisis of the magnitude we've just seen, it's perfectly right and proper, and
certainly very human, to want to take immediate steps to fix the system, so as
to ensure that this kind of nonsense can never happen again. There is also
something to be said for striking while the iron is hot. Leave things too long,
and the political will to act melts away.
Even so,
it's not clear that right now, with the crisis self evidently approaching some
kind of fresh denouement, is the time to be buttressing the system against the
once in a hundred year event of the present maelstrom. Nor in any case can the
sort of extreme regulatory overkill we are seeing at the moment ever be seen as
appropriate.
As far as
I know, Mr Barnier is well intentioned enough. He wants to protect us all from
the calamities of the past. But in attempting to regulate away all future risk,
he also threatens to undermine growth and further reduce already wanting
European competitiveness.
To be fair,
it's not all Mr Barnier's fault. He's only part of a posse of international
regulators riding furiously off in the wrong direction long after the horse has
bolted. If even a fraction of the time spent on trying to protect us against a
crisis that's already happened was devoted to finding a way out of it, then we
might actually be getting somewhere. As it is, almost every part of the reform
agenda is making matters worse, not better.
In its

"Much
will depend on the continued ability of banking system regulators to pilot a
path through the minefield that lies ahead", S&P observes. Well that
appears to be that, then. Abandon all hope, for at the moment these very same
regulators seem to be blundering their way forward as if entirely unaware of
what lies beneath their feet. Ever more onerous capital and liquidity
requirements have steepened the refinancing challenge, even with highly
supportive central bank funding on hand.
European
banks, still grappling with high leverage and a worsening sovereign debt
crisis, are particularly badly affected. Because of the escalating European
banking crisis, they face intense pressure to meet new capital and liquidity
requirements more quickly. With new equity virtually impossible to raise, this
has only further exaggerated the de-leveraging problem. Enforced
recapitalisation from governments which are themselves insolvent scarcely helps
matters.
In the
US, there is at least a highly developed corporate bond market to act as an
alternative to bank funding. That's not the case in Europe, where to the
contrary, the regulatory agenda seems determined to put as many obstacles in
the way of a viable bond market as possible.
Standard
& Poor's calculates that if corporate issuers in Europe were to tap the
bond market for 50pc of their new funding requirements (up from 15pc
historically), it would imply net new yearly issuance of $210bn to $260bn. In
only two years in the last decade has net new European issuance exceeded
$100bn.
You might
think this a significant growth opportunity, but Mr Barnier's new solvency
directive threatens to snuff that one out too, by requiring that only the most
credit worthy and liquid bonds count for capital purposes.
The new
solvency requirements virtually outlaw bundling together corporate loans and
issuing them as asset backed securities, or rather, they prevent financial
institutions from providing a viable source of demand for such bonds. Instead,
finance is pushed by regulation ever more aggressively into sovereign bonds,
even though many of them are now less than credit worthy.
The rules
also threaten to stymie Government hopes of the private sector substituting for
the public infrastructure spending being cut as part of the austerity drive.
Many long dated infrastructure bonds don't meet the investment grade deemed
necessary to qualify as a "safe" investments for insurers.
A more
nonsensical piece of regulation is hard to imagine. Public investment in
infrastructure is being cut almost everywhere to meet deficit reduction
targets, leaving EU member states highly reliant on private sector funding for
essential investment in the future.
Governments
could of course do as the CBI suggests in a new report on infrastructure
spending, and either guarantee the bonds or enhance their credit rating by
entering into first loss agreements, but this is just off-balance sheet window
dressing, where the private sector takes the upside, and taxpayers the
downside. Governments might as well spend the money themselves.
Europe
desperately needs growth, but it seems determined to stifle the credit needed
to provide it. How stupid can you get?
You do not hold elections at times that advantages you to the detriment
of your adversaries unless you want punishment but unless there are exceptional
circumstances (eg constitutional crisis), you hold it at the allotted time
because elections are not free but cost money and should be run sparingly.

OPPOSITION OFF GUARD AND WHEN THE TIME IS OPPORTUNE BECAUSE YOUR TERM OF OFFICE
IS STIPULATED AND YOU SHOULD COMPLETE THE ALLOTTED TIME. THUS ANYONE WHO SEES
NOTHING WRONG, SEES IT AS JUSTIFIED TO CALL SNAP ELECTIONS THAT DISADVANTAGES

Spain's
funding situation is "very difficult", Prime Minister Rajoy says, as
investors worry about the outlook for the country's finances.
So what is the lesson here for people who think they truly understand?
Debt matters and should not be undertaken flippantly. If Spain had not
foolishly piled up such massive debts on itself on the premise that they will
somehow manage to repay it, this will not have happened.
Yet even such highly educated people like Krugman is advocating debt
does not matter, debt will somehow take care of itself, let us embark on more
deficit spending to tide over this crisis and think of repaying when things
recover.

due share.

Vatican
sex parties and corruption:
It is my view that many even to the highest echelons of Buddhism and
Christianity do not understand the religion they represent and are guilty of

concerning serious corruption and sex parties involving very senior Vatican
officials.

When
forensic investigators opened a diamond-encrusted tomb in the heart of Rome a
few days ago, bystanders gagged and recoiled as the whiff of death billowed
into the summer air.
Watched
by priests in black clerical robes, and with the sound of a Latin Mass audible
from a church nearby, the stench came from the decomposing remains of a
notorious Italian gangland killer who, curiously, was buried by the Vatican in
a place usually reserved for saints.
Inside
the crypt at the Basilica of St Apollinare, police forensics experts found,
encased in his expensively tailored dark blue suit and black tie, the decaying
cadaver of Enrico De Pedis, who was shot dead by Mafia rivals in 1990.

family of Emanuela, pictured playing the flute, are waiting to hear if the
tests confirm the bones are those of the schoolgirl, who disappeared in the
summer of 1983
Having
supposedly repented before his death and left a large sum to charity (not to
mention £600,000 to a Rome priest), the gangster, who ran drugs and
prostitution rackets, was given dispensation to be buried in the seventh-
century church, with diamonds spelling out his name on the tomb.
While the
mobster’s presence on sacred ground has caused a scandal, it’s his role as an
alleged pimp to senior Vatican figures that threatens to plunge the Roman
Catholic Church into its gravest crisis yet — after astonishing claims about
the sexual abuse and death of Emanuela Orlandi, a pretty 15-year-old girl and
talented musician. It is those claims that led police to open the crypt.
Near the
casket containing the body of the gangster, there was a box with other human
bones, which police took for DNA testing, escorted by motorcycle outriders as
they sped from Piazza Navona to a laboratory.
The
family of Emanuela are waiting to hear if the tests confirm the bones are those
of the schoolgirl, who disappeared in the summer of 1983 after leaving her
family’s Vatican City apartment to go to a flute lesson in Rome.

Sabrina Minardi, who was engaged to De Pedis, has told prosecutors Emanuela had
been kidnapped on the ‘orders of Monsignor Marcinkus’
Often
seen playing within the Vatican walls, where her father worked as a lay
official in administration, Emanuela was last seen getting into a green BMW in
the centre of the Eternal City. She has not been seen since. If the bones in
the tomb are hers, it will be a hammer blow to the credibility of the Church,
amid allegations that the girl was abused at depraved orgies attended by some
of the Vatican’s most senior prelates and advisers to successive popes.
To the
dismay of Vatican officials, already reeling from disclosures about cover-ups
involving paedophile priests, these claims come from an insider — a veteran
priest with unprecedented access to the inner sanctums of the Vatican.
Father
Gabriel Amorth, a priest for 50 years, believes the girl was the victim of a
‘crime with a sexual motive’ and that police should focus their investigations
on the Vatican.

priest has published a book called the Last Exorcist, making lurid claims that
Emanuela’s death was part of a satanic plot. Father Amorth — appointed the
Vatican’s official exorcist by Pope John Paul II — said: ‘A girl of 15 is not
going to get into a car unless it’s with someone she knows. It is important to
speak to the people who knew Emanuela.
‘All too
often, this is how satanic sects work: they get a girl into a car and then they
disappear. The game is all too easy. They drug them and then they do what they
want to the girls.
‘Satan
attacks priests and people who have consecrated themselves to God. By striking
at a priest it signifies dragging down to Hell many other people. Think about
all those priests who have muddied their vestments by sexually abusing minors.
These acts are demonic. Can a girl disappear from somewhere so close to the
Vatican? Sadly, yes.’
Emanuela
Orlandi was last seen getting into a green BMW in the centre of the Eternal
City
s well as
carrying out more than 70,000 exorcisms, Father Amorth, 85, is a colourful
figure criticised for suggesting Harry Potter is immoral because talk of magic
is a ‘turn to the devil’, and that yoga is evil for turning people towards
Hinduism.
Yet
suggestions of depraved Vatican sex orgies are not simply the claims of one man
— far from it.
The
allegations are also supported by the former lover of the gangster whose tomb
was opened last week. She is under police protection after swearing a statement
alleging De Pedis procured girls for Archbishop Paul Marcinkus, a senior
prelate and former head of the Vatican bank, long accused of Mafia links.
Sabrina
Minardi, who was engaged to De Pedis at the time of his death aged 38, has also
told prosecutors young Emanuela had been kidnapped on the ‘orders of Monsignor
Marcinkus’. ‘They (the gangster and the priest) knew each other and confided in
each other,’ says a leaked copy of her witness statement.
‘I don’t
know who actually kidnapped Emanuela, but I know the order came from high up,
from Monsignor Marcinkus.’
Minardi
claims she met the frightened teenager with De Pedis in a bar on the city’s
Gianicolo Hill, which overlooks the Vatican, and that the gangster warned her
to ‘forget who you have just seen’.
She ‘took
girls to the Marcinkus place at the Vatican a few times, maybe five or six
times’, and Emanuela was kept in a secret apartment inside the Vatican after
she was kidnapped.
After
being abused at sadistic sex parties involving senior Vatican figures, the girl
was allegedly murdered and her body thrown into a cement mixer De Pedis kept
for disposing of Mafia enemies.
Now, the
police want to know if her remains were then taken to the tomb De Pedis had
been granted access to by the Vatican. Similar allegations were made by an
anonymous caller to an Italian TV crime show in 2008, saying the answer to the
girl’s disappearance lay inside the gangster’s tomb.
It later
emerged that the caller was an underworld crime figure — and close friend of De
Pedis — who also did business with Marcinkus.
The
monsignor, who died six years ago, was a controversial figure who was
questioned about laundering Mafia money through the Vatican Bank in the
Seventies.
He used
his status in the early Eighties to avoid being questioned by police probing
the collapse of Banco Ambrosiano in which the Vatican had invested.
The
collapse was linked to the murder of Roberto Calvi, dubbed God’s Banker, when
his body was found hanging under Black-friars Bridge in London in 1982. His
pockets were filled with cash and stones.
His death
was first recorded as a suicide, but police believe he was murdered by the
Mafia after bungled money laundering.
Six years
after Marcinkus’s death, his past is coming under scrutiny once again following
Father Amorth’s new claims.
The dead
girl’s brother and other campaigners marched to St Peter’s Square as the Pope
held prayers on Sunday, bearing pictures of Emanuela.
They
chanted ‘Shame! Shame’ after Pope Benedict studiously avoided offering prayers
for the dead girl, instead asking worshippers to support an archery group.
The
scandal could hardly have come at a worse time for the Vatican, which was
gripped by a new crisis yesterday as Pope Benedict’s butler was suspended amid
allegations he leaked sensitive details about massive financial corruption to
Italian newspapers.
Meanwhile,
there are countless court cases against paedophile priests pending around the
globe.
This is
hardly the first time allegations detailing secret Vatican orgies have emerged.
In 1999, there was uproar in the Vatican court when a book was published about
sex and corruption involving nuns and priests serving the Pope.
After
Vatican lawyers unsuccessfully tried to have the book banned, officials were
enraged when it emerged that one of the authors was Father Luigi Marinelli, who
was hauled before an ecclesiastical court and defrocked.
The book,
Gone With The Wind In The Vatican, went on to become an Italian best-seller,
detailing cases of priests and nuns who had been caught having sex, with many
of them being promoted or moved and the scandals covered up.
One
monsignor had bedded so many nuns in Rome and on overseas missions that he was
given a ‘nice bishop’s job in a diocese by the sea in southern Italy’ to stop
the scandal spreading.
Shortly
after it was published, Father Marinelli said: ‘The book . . . just points out
that the Vatican is made up of men, who, like me, are flawed. It’s all true —
in fact there was other wilder material that I had to leave out.’
These
fresh claims in recent days about Vatican orgies are fuelled by testimony from
Monsignor Simeone Duca, another Vatican insider who was in charge of the Pope’s
Secret Archive, where records dating back centuries hold the secrets of the
Catholic Church.
‘Duca
gave an interview shortly before he died,’ says Paulo Rodari, a journalist who
wrote the Last Exorcist with Father Amorth.
‘He said
parties were regularly organised with the help of Vatican guards — known as
gendarmes — at which young girls were recruited and then paid for sex.
‘The
circle of guests would include people from the Vatican, and they were held at
the embassy to the Vatican of a foreign country in Rome. I believe Emanuela was
murdered to ensure her silence.’
The
missing girl’s brother, Pietro Orlandi, 52, told the Mail he clings to the hope
his little sister is alive — though he has to fear the worst.
‘As far
as I am concerned, the Vatican knows something, but it is refusing to speak —
they have always claimed secrecy of state and not shared any information with
the investigators. It is a silence — an omerta like the Mafia,’ he says.
‘What we
really need to know is why the Vatican allowed an underworld boss to be buried
in such a sacred place. We need to know the relationship between the Holy See
and the criminal underworld. It has been almost 29 years since Emanuela
disappeared, and in all that time we have had silence from the Vatican.
‘I shall
never forget the day Emanuela disappeared — I usually took her and collected
her from her music lesson. That day I said I couldn’t. We quarrelled and she
stormed off, slamming the door.
‘That was
the last time I saw her. I have relived that moment for 29 years, wondering
what would have happened if I had taken her.’
Perhaps
now those tests in a Roman lab will reveal whether one of the Vatican’s most
awful secrets really was buried in a gangster’s diamond-encrusted tomb.
