If you are of the opinion that Anwar may be a homosexual (even if the charges are trumped up) and you communicate it to others, make sure you will stand surety with your head on the chopper board that it is true because if it turns out Anwar is not a homosexual, you based your opinion on hearsay or dislike for Anwar or bias for the ruling elite, then your head will be chopped even if you said, “How did I know then, this was what I heard that I thought was true”.

Anwar’s former speech writer Munawar said he was terribly traumatized by the abuses he was subjected to under interrogation to extract a false confession Anwar sodomized him (I think they kept forcing him to say lewd things about ‘Anwar screwing him’ and ‘he liked it’ or to that effect apart from physical intimidation and beatings. Subsequently they decided not to use his confession and based their prosecution solely on Azizan’s testimony.

Outrage as smoking Britney Spears Watches Son Play With Cigarettes:

Why should anyone be outraged and what use is it to be outraged or angry with Britney smoking and allowing her son to play with a pack of cigarettes.

The fact that the newspaper, Britain’s Daily Mail has allowed it to be printed reflects that they think it is meaningful and they want you to be similarly outraged or angry.

WHY SHOULD YOU STIR YOUR MENTAL FORCE REPULSIVELY AT THE SIGHT OF SOMETHING YOU DO NOT APPROVE?

APART FROM CAUSING YOUR SUFFERING BY STIRRING YOUR DISLIKE, OF WHAT USE IS THIS OUTRAGE?

THE PERSON WOULD NOT BE SO CONCERNED IF IT WAS AN UGLY BEGGAR WHO WAS DOING SO AND IT IS NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS HOW SHE TREATS HER CHILDREN. YOU MAY SAY IT IS WRONG BUT WHY STIR YOUR OWN OUTRAGE AND WANT TO STIR OTHERS?

THE PERSON IS A FOOL & BUSYBODY HEAPING KARMA TO BE EXPERIENCED AS PAIN LATER FOR HIMSELF OR HERSELF.

THE FACT THAT PEOPLE SEE NOTHING WRONG, EVEN THINK HE OR SHE IS RIGHT TO BE OUTRAGED REFLECTS THIS IS A DELUDED WORLD WITH FOOLS LEADING FOOLS.

Using words to attack:

Just as you can use your hand (slap) or foot (kick) or weapon (gun) to attack someone, you can use your mouth or words to attack someone and it can be just as potent and hurtful as using your hand or a gun because the final arbiter of hurt is the other person’s mental force. So long as you have managed in stirring his mental force to intense strength to be angry even violent, confused and aggrieved (eg by your insult) you have successfully attacked him with words.

Attacks using words may be deliberately intended or unintended (perverted people think they are being friendly and good when they are sarcastic, gently mocking the other) or it may be disguised (spoken gently with great control, eg asking someone ‘why are you so rude?’).

Whether a person is attacking another with words is an objective diagnosis not subjective and can be determined infallibly by those who discern and God if not by you. There is no use denying but it is worse because you will go mad perceiving what is attacking is not attacking.

How might one discern if something said is attacking, not meaningful or intended at face value of what is said?

There is always emotion accompanying what people say, it varies from situation to situation and it may be eagerness, excitement, fear, anger, trying to be funny or scoffing. Thus if you can detect emotional scoffing or derision or sarcasm or anger, what is said is attacking, intended to attack even if the substance of what is said makes sense.

Further the characteristic acceleration in speed and loudness, even accelerating acceleration in speed and loudness, excessive force used in prolonging when saying something is intended to transmit as much force as possible through those words to impact on the attacked person.

IN OTHER WORDS, YOU ATTACK ANOTHER PERSON USING WORDS BY INCREASING THE FORCE USED TO PROLONG SYLLABLES, FORCE USED TO CHANGE SPEED AND LOUDNESS THAT YOU KNOW HOWEVER VAGUELY IS AUDIBLE AND IMPACTS ON HIM TO HURT HIM.

Often to escape blame or deny responsibility for provoking you, some people have learnt through much practice to disguise their verbal attacks on others. It always takes great learnt control or practice to do so because to attack someone is to arouse your mental violence and yet to disguise the attack you must restraint or conceal it as well as you can so as not to alert the other person. No matter how well concealed, tell tale signs are audible in how it is said that tells the discerning it is an attack.

NO MATTER HOW WELL LEARNT BY A PERSON TO DISGUISE HIS ATTACK USING WORDS, THERE ARE SIGNS IN THE WAY IT IS SPOKEN THAT WILL TELL THE DISCERNING, HE IS ATTACKING IN A DISGUISED WAY.

FURTHER THE PERSON IS COURTING MADNESS DISGUISING HIS ATTACK BECAUSE HE IS CREATING FORCEFUL DENIED CONFLICT IN HIM TO SPEAK AS IF HE IS SAYING SOMETHING FRIENDLY WHILST HE IS DOING THE OPPOSITE, ATTACKING AND HE MUST DENY TO HIMSELF AND OTHERS AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE HE IS FRIENDLY NOT ATTACKING.

Whatever someone says can be examined to see if it makes sense or not. If something does not make sense then it is meaningless or false and then it is the motive to attack that is the underlying origin of the speech.

Thus if it is impossible the person is interested in me telling her the reasons why I am rude when she gently asked me, “Why are you so rude?” the motive must be to launch a disguised attack on me telling me I am rude and to invite me to a verbal fight by replying to her. If I blow up she can blame me for blowing up because she merely asked me a simple question that she wanted an answer.

THUS IF SOMETHING SAID CAN BE EXAMINED WITH GENUINE LOGIC AND FOUND TO BE FALSE OR NONSENSE THEN YOU CANNOT MEAN WHAT IS FALSE OR MAKES NO SENSE AND SO IT MUST BE THE MOTIVE AND FORCE BEHIND WHAT IS SAID THAT IS PURPOSE AND IT IS TO ATTACK.

Do not underestimate the potency of words to attack others either through the style or use of force to prolong, change speed and loudness that can be faithfully transmitted with great cogency to the listener or the use of incendiary words (you bastard). And mere words can send you to hell.

USING WORDS FALSELY TO SLANDER ANOTHER IS ALSO A FORM OF ATTACK. FOR EXAMPLE IF ANWAR IS NOT HOMOSEXUAL AND YOU SAY HE IS, YOU ARE SLANDERING AND ATTACKING HIM.

All styled speech attacks:

So long as there is style in any spoken words or the use of force to prolong syllables, change speed and loudness within and between syllables, there is use of force that is transmissible to the listener and that is attacking the listener even if it is to stir him to like or be impressed or pleased.

Just because he is a pervert who is pleased by your flattering words does not make your charming style that impacts force on his mind not attacking.

ANYONE WHOSE SPEECH HAS USE OF FORCE TO PROLONG SYLLABLES, CHANGE SPEED AND LOUDNESS WITHIN AND BETWEEN SYLLABLES IS TRANSMITTING FORCE TO OTHERS AND THAT IS ATTACKING OTHERS WHETHER HE LIKES IT OR NOT.

WHAT REMAINS IS WHETHER THE USE OF FORCE IS PURPOSELY INTENDED TO HURT OR INFLICT PAIN EITHER DIRECTLY OR DISGUISED OR IT IS DRIVEN BY DELUSION OF WHAT IS ATTACKING IS BENEFICIAL TO SELF AND OTHERS.

BECAUSE THERE IS ALWAYS ACCOMPANYING UNNECESSARY USE OF FORCE TO PROLONG, CHANGE SPEED AND LOUDNESS IN THE SPEECH OF ALL ORDINARY STYLISH EMOTIONAL PEOPLE, THEY ARE DE FACTO ALWAYS ATTACKING OTHERS, ONLY THE EXTENT OR DEGREE VARIES IN THAT ON SOME OCCASIONS, THEY PURPOSELY ADD MORE FORCE TO ATTACK OTHERS OR THEY SAY WORDS THEY KNOW AS HURTFUL OR SLANDEROUS TO ATTACK OTHERS.

THE BUDDHA SAID ILL WILL IS ONE OF FIVE LOWER FETTERS TO THE LOWER REALMS (ANIMAL & HUMAN) AND THE USE OF FORCE TO FABRICATE STYLE THAT ATTACKS OTHERS IS ILL WILL.

ONLY THE PERSON WHO DOES NOT USE FORCE TO STRETCH SYLLABLES, CHANGE SPEED AND LOUDNESS HAS NO ILL WILL, DOES NOT ATTACK OTHERS WITH HIS MANNER OF SPEAKING.

The purpose of attacking others with words:

Whether you are aware or not, no matter how you may deny it, the purpose of using words to attack others is the transmit force on the other person’s mind to inflict pain or hurt that you know can happen and is effective because you yourself have been hurt by others words even to searing levels.

Thus whatever words that are used are merely excuses or convenient vehicles to convey force that you intend to impact on the target of your attack.

BECAUSE IT IS NOT THE WORDS BUT IT IS ULTIMATELY THE CONCOMITTANT TRANSMISSION OF FORCE WITH THE WORDS THAT ATTACK (IT IS NOT ‘YOU BITCH’ BUT THE VIOLENT ACCELERATION OF FORCE IN ‘YOU BITCH’ THAT IS SEARING), IT IS FORCE THAT ATTACKS VIA WORDS AND SO ANYONE WHO TRANSMITS FORCE TO ANOTHER VIA WORDS IS ATTACKING OR HAS ILL WILL, THUS ANYONE WHO HAS STYLE, WHO USES FORCE TO PROLONG SYLLABLES, CHANGE SPEED AND LOUDNESS WHEN SPEAKING IS ATTACKING OTHERS VERBALLY AND A MAN OF ILL WILL. THE FACT THAT YOU THINK YOU ARE BENEFITING YOURSELF AND OTHERS REFLECT ADVANCED FALSE PERCEPTION THAT WILL END IN MAD PERCEPTION.

Attack by substance:

You can also use the substance of what you say to attack another and it may be true or false.

Politicians are frequently attacking each other publicly by saying things that are true or false that attacks the other person.

Thus by bringing attention allegations of Najib’s involvement with Altantuya, even if it is true, it is attacking him. Politicians highlight the scandals involving other politicians to attack and bring them to their downfall.

Often the attacks are malicious, they are false as when you tell lies. If allegations that Anwar sodomized Saiful are false, then it is using falsity to attack Anwar.

PEOPLE IN THIS WORLD ARE SO USED TO ATTACKING OTHERS EITHER FRONTALLY OR IN DISGUISED FORM, SO USED TO BEING ATTACKED BY WORDS FRONTALLY OR IN VEILED FORM, THEY SEVERELY UNDERESTIMATE THE OCCURRENCE OF THEIR ATTACKING OTHERS, THEY OFTEN DO NOT REALIZE WHAT THEY SAY IS ATTACKING OTHERS WITH DEADLY KARMA DUE THEM.

Quick to retaliate:

In this day of changed consciousness state where everyone’s mental shackles have been removed, just as they are incessantly attacking others in being aggressive in speech, posture and actions, people are also quick to take issue or resent or retaliate at any slightest perceived slights.

Because retaliation is reflexive according to a plan and based on force, each time you retaliate you are not only just suffering bit conditioning yourself to retaliate until it gets so slick, it is irresistible for you to retaliate at any real or imagined slight and if you don’t turn back, don’t work to negate this urge to retaliate, you justify retaliating you are doomed to loss of control and mad retaliation and thereafter to another eternity of perdition.

REFLECTION CHANGED CONSCIOUSNESS STATES AND THE REMOVAL OF CONSCIOUSNESS SHACKLES ON THEIR MENTAL FORCES, PEOPLE TODAY ARE QUICK TO ATTACK AND RETALIATE SUCH THAT THEY ARE VERGING ON MAD ATTACKING AND RETALIATING, ONCE THEY ARE STIRRED IT IS HARD FOR THEM NOT TO ATTACK OR RETALIATE AND THEY DO NOT REALIZE THEY ARE DOOMED TO LOSS OF CONTROL IF THEY DO NOT WORK TO EFFACE THEIR FORCEFULNESS AND THEREAFTER THEY ARE NOT GOING ANYWHERE NEAR HEAVEN.

When it is not an attack:

When the Buddha referred to men as worthless and called someone ‘foolish man’ he is not attacking but stating the truth.

If what I say about Najib is the truth and it is said without emotion, without deprecating him, without associated force prolonging, changing speed and loudness then it is not attacking him but because people have advanced false perception they perceive it as attacking.

It is only when what is said is not true, or it is true (he is a fool) but there is anger or wrath accompanying calling him a fool is it an attack. Further if it is the intention to hurt the person or cast him in bad light to others, then it is attacking.

Thus the ad that McCain’s camp put up casting Obama as a celebrity not ready to lead is attacking him with the intention of changing people’s opinion of Obama as all show and no substance.

The Buddha’s definition of a fool:

According to the Buddha, anyone who misconducts himself by thought (fantasies, scheming), speech and body is a fool and he is a fool because he is headed for suffering that far more painful and everlasting than he ever dreamt possible.

It is not because you are a pretty girl or of the same colour as me or my wife or child that you are not a fool but whoever misconducts himself in mind, body and speech is a fool and that can be objectively determined because the Buddha said, such and such is virtue and such and such is misconduct (joking is misconduct).

Due processes of the law will continue:

It is quite easy for anyone including Badawi to confidently say as if true and routine, ‘due process of the law will continue’ in reference to the ongoing investigation of Anwar.

What about due process of the law with regard to Najib and the Altantuya case?

WHETHER DUE PROCESS OF THE LAW HAS BEEN UNDERTAKEN WITH REGARD TO NAJIB AND ANWAR IS OBJECTIVE, NOT FOR ANYONE TO SAY. THUS IF DUE PROCESS OF THE LAW HAS NOT BEEN UNDERTAKEN IN BOTH CASES THEN WHAT YOU SAID IS FALSE AND MISLEADING AND YOU SHOULD NOT SAY IT IF YOU DO NOT KNOW OR ARE NOT SURE BUT IF YOU SAY IT YOU WILL BE JUDGED FOR EVERY CARELESS WORD YOU SAY AND THE CONSEQUENCES ARE FAR MORE SERIOUS THAN YOU EVER IMAGINED.

THE global financial shock sparked by the US sub-prime mortgage crisis is far from over, according to leading international financial experts. There is still a major risk of a 'meltdown' as economies battle what is shaping up as the worst slump since the 1930s, a group of them - including financial guru Marc Faber and investment veteran Mark Mobius - warned at a symposium organised by The Business Times.

Total losses suffered by financial institutions worldwide in the wake of the sub-prime debacle will run into trillions of dollars - possibly as much as US$10 trillion, rather than the billions envisaged originally, some suggest. And the US budget deficit could 'explode' as Washington seeks to stem a real estate haemorrhage and restore confidence

The experts' analysis (which appears inside on Page 13) is a far more sobering assessment of the dangers facing the world economy than has generally been presented so far. It comes as markets are again suffering tremors - with the US Federal Reserve once more forced to pump confidence-boosting liquidity into the financial system.

Equity markets are threatened with an 'avalanche' as financial system aftershocks continue, the expert panel warns. And according to Mr Faber, this could turn into a drawn-out process or 'water torture' bear market.

Former Wall Street executive and one-time World Bank group official Ernest Kepper reckons stock valuations could fall as much as 40-50 per cent from their peaks a year or so ago.

And Mr Mobius says: 'There is a big risk of a meltdown of the (US) financial systems brought on by a lack of confidence.'

Lehman Brothers' New York managing director and chief US economist Ethan Harris rejects any suggestion that US government debt is 'not safe' amid the crisis at mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

But Mr Faber suggests: 'We are in the midst of an unprecedented credit growth slowdown that will hit all asset classes one after the other as liquidity tightens and deleveraging becomes the order of the day.

'First, home prices came down. Then financial stocks. And now, commodities, material and energy stocks. Bonds will eventually tumble too. Even art prices will fall.'

Inflation is seen as the immediate threat as food, fuel and other commodity prices soar. But governments may soon find themselves battling deflation, the experts warn.

Mr Kepper says: 'As the financial avalanche builds and recession hits oil-importing countries, the combination of a severe US recession and a global slowdown will shift the focus away from inflation to the slipping demand for real goods.

'This will lead to a reduction in prices when supply exceeds demand. There will be downward pressure on labour markets and rising unemployment, while at the same time, commodity prices fall in accordance with reduced demand.'

William Thomson, a former vice-president of the Asian Development Bank and now head of a financial advisory group, says the sub-prime crisis is 'undoubtedly the worst in the developed world since the 1930s'.

He reckons the only period remotely similar is the bear market of 1973-75, which was driven by surging oil prices and stoked annual inflation rates to around 20 per cent. 'That has not yet arrived but may well be in the pipeline,' he says.

But he believes the situation is far worse this time because the US financial system is extraordinarily stretched and stressed.

'Last time, we only had the minor bankruptcies of Franklin National Bank and Continental Bank to contend with,' he says. 'Then, there were no derivatives. But now, they amount to more than 10 times world GDP and a greater multiple of bank capital. Within that total, the most toxic ones are those of unlisted, opaque, over-the-counter variety amounting to over US$50 trillion - again multiples of US bank capital.'

An act of a loving wife:

This was Dr M’s remark on the news of Anwar’s wife stepping down for Anwar to stand for parliament.

From the gist of follow up comments, he did not mean what he said but he was sarcastic or laughing at what is happening in keeping with his cynical attitude. It is actually his karma that he is now cynical about virtually everything, attacking directly or in this case in a disguised sarcastic way. He is descending into certain insanity which is never a pleasure I tell you and after that even an eternity of punishment awaits him and those who see nothing wrong with his behaviour and achievements.

IF YOU MEAN THE OPPOSITE OF WHAT YOU SAY YOU ARE PRACTICING CONTROLLED MADNESS THAT ALSO DECEIVES THE GULLIBLE YOU MEAN WHAT YOU SAY WHEN YOU MEAN THE OPPOSITE. IF YOU PRACTICE CONTROLLED MADNESS YOU WILL GET WHAT YOU WISH, UNCONTROLLED MADNESS.

Don’t blame the sun for your headache:

Quote: Yesterday my wife and I went out in the hot sun and afterwards I got a headache. Why? Is there a cure?

Comment: Don’t blame the sun for your headache. Even if the sun is very bright and hot it is only 10-20% to blame for your headache and the rest of the blame falls on you. Why is that so?

As the Buddha said, faced by the arrow of suffering (exposure to hot bright sun in this case), the fool hits himself with a second arrow, he rebels or grieves or dislikes and this compounds his suffering.

Just as a crab automatically snaps at a stick poked into his lair and gets pulled up by the crab catcher to end up on the dinner table, when confronted by a hot bright sun, the liking and disliking person automatically dislikes, he uses mental force to resist and dislike the intrusion of heat and brightness on his consciousness that does no good but by subjecting his mind to force of resistance and disliking (repulsion) he is foolishly creating additional pain for himself.

Because resistance and disliking is conditioning, the person who dislikes the bright and hot sun experiences increasing intolerance for the sun, the resistance and repulsion can rise to more intense levels than those who do not dislike and even a weak sun can cause him distress.

Nowadays my mind is so centred that even quite obnoxious intrusions do not stir my mental force to retaliate or dislike and so even a very bright hot sun does not cause me suffering.

Thus even if the sun is very bright and hot, you are to be blamed for suffering because you permit or you cannot help permitting the hot bright sun to stir your mental force to resist and repel (dislike).

If you are person who is suffering from headaches and you do not know the cause when there is a cause then you are a fool who does not know what is happening to him.

If you are suffering from headaches and you blame the sun for it when you are at fault then that is wrong view and it is the way to hell or the animal womb according to the Buddha.

If you are to be blamed mostly if not entirely for suffering a headache as a result of the hot bright sun and you blame the sun, then you have wrong view, you do not see things correctly and that is the way to more suffering.

IT IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR ANYONE WHO NEVER SUBJECTS HIS MIND TO FORCE TO SUFFER HEADACHES OR GIDDINESS.

IF YOU SUFFER FROM HEADACHES AND GIDDINESS IT IS A WARNING THAT YOU ARE EXPOSING YOUR MIND TO FORCE AND FUTURE DESTRUCTION WHICH IS NOT THE WAY TO HEAVEN BUT INSANITY AND PERDITION.

IF YOU DID NOT USE FORCE TO PROLONG SYLLABLES, CHANGE SPEED AND LOUDNESS WITHIN AND BETWEEN SYLLABLES, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR YOU TO SUFFER FROM HEADACHES OR GIDDINESS.

Repeating the same old things?

I have been accused by people of repeating the same old things but it reflects their lack of understanding that after so much repetition, they still do not understand, they still behave in their deluded stylish emotional ways and wonder why they suffer.

IF YOU AFTER I HAVE REPEATED WHAT I SAID SO MANY TIMES AND YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND (AS REFLECTED BY YOUR ATTITUDES AND SPEECH) THEN YOU ARE INCORRIGIBLE AND WHAT I SAY FALLS ON DEAF EARS.

DON’T CONGRATULATE YOURSELF BECAUSE WHAT IS AT STAKE FOR YOU IN NOT UNDERSTANDING IS ANOTHER ETERNITY OF WEEPING AND GNASHING YOUR TEETH BUILDING UP A PILE OF SKELETON AS HIGH AS THE MOUNTAIN AND SPILLING YOUR OWN BLOOD THAT IS AS GREAT AS AN OCEAN FROM HAVING YOUR NECK CUT, ACCORDING TO THE BUDDHA.

The reason why recession is lagging America and Europe in Australia is because Australia’s forte is commodity (eg iron ore, coal) not manufacturing and even its farm sector is dwindling as a result of drought.

A burgeoning resources sector should see Australia have a healthy trade surplus yet Australia owes the rest of the world about 60% GDP and citizens too have debts to the same percentage indicating that Australia and Australians are living way beyond their means fuelled by the commodity and housing boom which banks have encouraged by lax lending and the government encouraged by allowing people to use interest paid on housing loans to be offset against income for taxation and capital gains tax only on half the profit on sale.

AUSTRLIANS WERE HAVING A ‘WHOPPING’ PARTY ON CREDIT AND NOW IT LOOKS LIKE THEY HAVE DUG THEMSELVES INTO A HOLE OUT OF WHICH THEY MAY NEVER GET OUT SHOULD COMMODITY PRICES COLLAPSE IN A GLOBAL RECESSION.

Housing slump: will you get hurt?

The doubling in real terms in house prices in the past decade is a bubble waiting to burst. It is effectively a "Ponzi scheme" where dividends are paid out of new rounds of capital injected into the scheme. The scheme collapses when there are no new investors to pay the dividends.

"the only way the individual speculator profits from real estate speculation (and sharemarket speculation) is either by selling to somebody with a higher income or by selling to another individual with a similar income, who takes on sufficient debt to buy the property at a price that exceeds the speculator's price".

The banks and the Government are financiers for this massive Ponzi scheme. The banks are responsible for most of the lending for housing. The Government offers an inflation multiplier through the tax system which allows investors to write off the interest expense against all income (your interest on house loan can be offset against income for taxation), and pay only half the capital gains tax when the house is sold for a profit.

The banks have contributed to the Ponzi by lowering lending standards. It is an iron law of financing: apart from meaningless advertising, the only way banks can compete for customers is by lowering lending standards. In 1983, the banks quickly ran up some $20 billion in "non-performing" loans — they borrowed unlimited amounts from overseas to lend to customers. This led to the closure of two state banks, rising debt, massive asset price inflation and then treasurer Paul Keating's "recession Australia had to have".

Within two decades, the lesson was forgotten. Driven by the "carriage trade", where Australian banks could borrow cheap on the capital markets of Asia and the US to lend dear to their customers in Australia, foreign debt nows exceeds $600 billion, or more than half annual GDP, and domestic debt is about $1.7 trillion or 65% of GDP.

while an individual can escape from an excessive debt by selling property for a profit, the nation as a whole can't.

Merrill Lynch’s asset sale set stage for further woes:

The finance markets celebrated yet again that the worse is over but it may be a fool’s celebration.

Apparently by finally selling off its assets at 20% to face value and realizing the loss, Merrill is setting the benchmark for other banks with similar assets to value their assets they hold which mean they too must declare losses.

Further although it was sold at 20 cents to the dollar, it seems its actual worth may be much less.

China is reputed to have loaned a lot to Freddie Mac & Fannie Mae and hence their trouble could indicate China will sustain serious losses.

Merrill relief another illusion in hall of mirrors?

the fact that Merrill was forced to finance three quarters of the sale of $30.6 billion of its collateralized debt obligations, or CDOs, means that the securities are worth even less than the depressed value they garnered in the transaction.

"That implies that these CDOs are worth much less than 22 cents of the dollar," said Roubini. "The true market value of this garbage is closer to zero."

In addition, Merrill's attempt to raise capital via a $900 million stock sale to Singaporean sovereign wealth fund Temasek, also came with a caveat of its own: the investment bank will give the Temasek a rebate of $2.5 billion on an earlier $4.4 billion share purchase.

Moreover, the market price fetched for the CDOs sets a new, lower benchmark for other financial institutions when they have to mark-to-market or value their assets. This means rather than signaling an "end-game" for write-downs Merrill's move could actually be the start of another round of headline-grabbing losses.

until the prices of the underlying assets (of these CDOs)-- houses and home mortgages -- start to recover, these things are not worth very much.

The virtual hoarding in oil speculation:

One argument that there is no speculation in the oil market is the absence of a physical stock of oil held by speculators.

It is false perception that speculators must physically hold oil in order to speculate. Because all trading now in oil apart from final physical delivery is done not just on papers but even electronically there is no need for speculators to hold physical stock in order to speculate.

In a tight market where there is strictly limited supplies of oil to be bought or sold, by electronically keying in a ‘buy’ order for oil for future delivery at a higher price in order to get that lot and then holding it in the hope that before delivery someone will offer a higher price to take it off your hands, you are exerting price pressure for oil to go up.

Supposed oil is usually traded at $55 per barrel and you are bullish and snap up lots even at $58 and you hold on to the contract and refuse to sell even though you have no use for that oil when the contract date is up but you must offload it to someone out there who genuinely needs oil.

Supposed you are a genuine oil purchaser and normally you can get oil at $55 per barrel but now when you want to buy the selling price is $60, you may wait awhile but the price does not come down and even goes up and because you need the oil and can pass on the costs to your captive consumers, you have no choice but to buy it at $60 forcing the oil price to go up, not because there is a shortage, but because there is the presence of speculators with no need for oil who have already snapped up the contracts at a lower price and will not sell to you unless you offer more.

WHEN THERE IS A POPULAR SHOW IN TOWN LIKE ‘BATMAN’ OR BEN HUR IN THE OLDEN DAYS, TOUTS OR SPECULATORS DO NOT HOARD CINEMA SEATS BUT THEY HOARD OR SNAP UP THE AVAILABLE TICKETS TO THOSE SEATS (JUST LIKE OIL SPECULATORS SNAP UP TICKETS THAT ENTITLE THEM TO PURCHASE OIL AT A CERTAIN PRICE ON A CERTAIN DAY) AND THEY THEN OFFER TO SELL THE TICKETS AT A HIGHER PRICE TO GENUINE PATRONS WHO HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO COUGH UP THE ASKING PRICE.

Just as in any cinema screening there is only a maximum of say 100 seats for that show, no more, in the same way in a tight oil market there may be only 100 lots available and if a speculator has bought the ticket to that seat, you cannot occupy the seat unless he agrees to sell it to you at a profit. By holding the ticket he is hoarding or occupying the seat. In the same way by buying to hold the ticket to 1 lot of oil the oil investor or speculator (eg banks have trading departments, hedge and pension funds) is depriving the genuine buyer of oil access to that lot of oil that he will only relinquish for a profit that necessitates the price of oil rising, unless he is forced by circumstances to sell at a loss.

What is the purpose of hoarding in speculation? The purpose of hoarding is not so much to induce an artificial shortage but it is primarily to reserve a supply of stock that the speculator can subsequently sell off for profit. In order to speculate you must hoard a stock to sell when price rises later. And it helps considerably to speculate on a commodity that is in tight supply so that your very entry increases demand beyond the capacity of market to supply so that genuine buyers have no choice but buy it off you with an added surcharge.

Nowadays with futures trading you do not need to physically hoard oil, in a tight market with strictly limited lots of oil available, by snapping up available oil lots, you force genuine buyers who come along later to have no choice but pay you more to get that oil off you instead of the original seller if you the speculator was not in the market.

WHAT ARE ALL THESE HEDGE FUNDS, PENSION FUNDS AND BANK TRADING DESKS TRADING WHEN THEY INVEST BILLIONS IN THE OIL MARKET?

AREN’T THEY BUYING OIL FUTURES THAT ENTITLE THEM TO PURCHASE OIL AT A CERTAIN PRICE IN THE FUTURE?

IF THERE ARE NO MORE OIL LOTS AVAILABLE APART FROM THOSE THESE SPECULATORS HAVE SNAPPED UP BECAUSE THE MARKET IS TIGHT, THEN GENUINE BUYERS MUST TURN TO THESE SPECULATORS TO BUY OIL AND THEY HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO PAY A HIGHER PRICE THESE SPECULATORS (GANGSTERS) DEMAND OR THEY WILL NOT SELL TO YOU.

THUS IT IS FALSE PERCEPTION TO SAY THERE IS NO PHYSICAL HOARDING IN THE OIL MARKET, THE HOLDING OF THE OIL FUTURES OR CONTRACTS TO FUTURE OIL DELIVERY BY SPECULATORS IS THE VIRTUAL HOARDING OF OIL SO THAT THEY DICTATE WHAT PRICES GENUINE BUYERS AND THENCE CONSUMERS MUST PAY.

The poor cannot make ends meet:

As a result of soaring inflation that is largely triggered by the fuel price increase, many living on the poverty line can no longer make ends meet and they have little or no ability to demand increase wages.

The style of the rich may be crimped but few if any are complaining about being unable to make ends meet.

Hence anyone who says that fuel subsidies benefit the rich more than the poor has wrong view not without motive because they want to support the government’s unpopular step in raising fuel prices, they want you to understand the government’s action when it is not understandable, it is actually unrighteous demanding more money from the people through higher fuel prices just because the world price is high and we should also pay high prices even when we produce our own oil.

The truth is that people like Paul Krugman like to see bubbles in stocks and houses because he does not like the price rises there that they see is due to greed but they don’t like to see a bubble in oil because they see Americans are profligate its consumption and they think high prices are justified to reduce profligate consumption. Because Krugman perceives that oil should be expensive to discourage consumption, he dislike seeing it as a bubble and he will find arguments to support why it is not a bubble.

The seat and the ticket:

Whilst it is the seat that enables you to watch a show at a certain day and time, it is the ticket that you must purchase and hold that entitles you to that seat at that day and time.

In the same way, whilst it is physical oil that is the desired commodity, it is the ticket or contract to it that you must purchase and hold that will entitle you to physical delivery of that oil at a particular date.

THUS IN THE MODERN WORLD YOU DO NOT NEED TO CUMBERSOMELY HOLD THE OIL PHYSICALLY IN ORDER TO SPECULATE BUT YOU JUST NEED TO PURCHASE THE CONTRACT OR TICKET FOR DELIVERY OF THAT OIL IN THE FUTURE AND BET THAT IN TIME THE PRICE FOR THAT CONTRACT GOES UP SO THAT YOU CAN OFFLOAD IT TO SOMEONE WHO REALLY NEEDS THE OIL.

The seats remain the same but prices go up:

Just as the number of seats remain the same with or without speculators or ticket touts but the price of tickets soars for those who have to purchase it from touts (but remains the same for those purchasing it from the cinema), in the same way, the amount of oil available on the market remains the same with or without speculators but the emergence of speculators in the market causes oil prices to soar for those who have to purchase oil on the open market from these speculators or gangsters but it remains the same for those who purchase directly from the seller eg consumers in oil producing countries.

Speculation always artificially boosts demand:

The presence of speculation always falsely or artificially boosts demand, sometimes to the point of shortage that allows suppliers and speculators to ask for higher prices for that commodity.

Suppose there are 100 seats available for a show and five speculators have each bought 10 tickets for show. This leaves only 50 seats that may result in a shortage which would not have occurred if speculators were not present and as a result of the shortage, speculators have leverage to demand a price rise for those desperate to see that show. These ticket touts are not interested in watching the show, they are holding the tickets to sell it for profit.

THUS THE PRESENCE OF SPECULATORS IN A COMMODITY TRADING ALWAYS ARTIFICIALLY OR FALSELY (NOT TRULY) BOOSTS DEMAND FOR THAT COMMODITY. IT IS FALSE BECAUSE SPECULATORS HAVE NO INTEREST OR USE FOR THE COMMODITY, THEY ARE IN IT ONLY FOR PROFIT.

How speculators engineer price rises:

The mere presence of speculators in the market artificially increases demand that in itself causes price pressure with or without actual shortage. If there is a shortage, retailers and speculators can move in for the kill by demanding more for their produce.

Another way speculators make money is if they have insider information eg that the government will soon raise the price of the commodity or the company whose shares they bought earlier will have businesses injected into it that will boost its price.

Yet another way speculators make money is by supporting the market. Because they have sold off their oil at a higher prices, should the price of oil fall significantly they may come in to support the market, to snap up stock that will then cause a relative shortage that will cause price pressure to again build up so that they can sell off at profit.

Depending on how much they control the market they may even push prices up by buying and selling to themselves to falsely push up prices and went bargain hunters come in as they stop pushing up prices they will unload their stock that costs less on unsuspecting suckers.

How speculation causes price rises:

Because speculators are not interested in the commodity, they have no use for the commodity, they are in the market for profit and that is driven by greed, they will not hesitate to pay a bit more to snap up whatever stock that is available hoping they can sell off later at profit.

A speculator without stock is a no good speculator and so any speculator worth his salt must stock up with as much stock that his finance allows and if dealers will extend credit or margin so that he can buy $1000 instead of $100 of stock, all the better.

Thus eked on by his greed for unrighteous gain, desirous of possessing a stock of the commodity, he sees nothing in paying a little bit more to secure the stock so that the oil price creeps up from $55 to $56 as a result of his bidding to get oil from those willing to take profit at $56. This causes a creeping price rise that may snow ball as other speculators watching on the sidelines seeing prices moving upwards will be also drawn in by greed to similarly snap up oil even though prices has crept up, creating momentum for oil prices to keep creeping up until speculative buying demand is whet.

Depending if they have cornered the market or not, speculators may then push up prices significantly based on an excuse, eg America attacks Iran by snapping up stock and even buying from themselves to cause prices to soar significantly like $10 and then they will pause to see if there is follow through buying support or those genuinely in need of oil might not be panicked to buy the oil even at a much raised price.

SPECULATORS ARE INTO OIL BECAUSE THEY ARE BULLISH OR THEY HAVE A PERCEPTION THAT OIL WILL RISE HANDSOMELY FOR THEM TO MAKE HANDSOME PROFITS AND SO IF THE MARKET IS TIGHT, THERE ARE FEW SELLERS, SPECULATORS ARE WILLING TO OFFER A DOLLAR MORE JUST TO SECURE A STOCK OF OIL TO SELL ON WHEN PRICE RISES. THIS CREEPING PRICE RISE SUCKS IN FELLOW SPECULATORS TO FOLLOW SUIT TO BUY SO THAT THEY WILL NOT MISS OUT AND MAY ALSO PANICK GENUINE BUYERS TO BUY MORE THAN THEY USUALLY NEED TO SECURE SUPPLIES.

IT IS SPECULATORS JOINING IN, IN A CHORUS DRIVEN BY GREED, EACH BIDDING UP PRICES A LITTLE BIT MORE IN ORDER TO SECURE A STOCK OF OIL TO SELL OFF LATER THAT CAUSES OIL PRICES TO SLOWLY CREEP UP AND ONCE THERE IS A SUFFICIENT SUPPLY OF OIL HELD BY SPECULATORS, THEY ARE UNWILLING TO SELL AT A LOSS AND WILL HOLD ON TO IT, IT REMOVES A SIZEABLE AMOUNT OF OIL FROM THE MARKET THAT WILL ONLY BE RELEASED IF PRICES RISE FORCING THOSE WHO NEED OIL LATER TO OFFER MORE TO PRISE THIS OIL OTR CONTRACTS FOR OIL HELD BY THESE SPECULATORS.

ON TOP OF THAT, IF SPECULATORS HAVE CORNERED THE MARKET, THEY MIGHT PUSH UP OIL PRICES BY BUYING WHATEVER IS OFFERED AT A HIGHER RATE AND EVEN BUY FROM THEMSELVES TO GIVE A SEMBLANCE OF DEMAND THAT MAY PANICK OTHERS INCLUDING GENUINE BUYERS TO JOIN IN AND BUY AT THE MUCH HIGHER PRICES SO THAT THEY WON’T HAVE TO PAY MORE LATER.

Stock held to ransom:

If speculators cumulatively hold on to a significant share of the market for delivery at a future date, these stock of oil that they hold will be out of bounds of the genuine oil market unless prices rise because speculators will not release the stock they hold unless they are paid more which means price must rise.

Unless forced by exceptional circumstances, no demand, these oil speculators will never sell at a loss and so the substantial oil that they cumulatively hold is available to the market, but only at a price or premium or if you pay more for it or oil price rise.

THUS IF SPECULATORS COLLECTIVELY HOLD A SIZEABLE PORTION OF THE OIL IN THE MARKET, THAT PORTION THAT THEY COLLECTIVELY HOLD IS NOT CORDONED OFF THE MARKET, IS AVAILABLE TO THE MARKET BUT ONLY IF YOU PAY MORE IN ORDER THAT THEY CAN PROFIT AND TO DO THAT PRICES MUST RISE. THUS BY HOLDING OIL STOCKS THAT THEY WILL ONLY RELEASE AT HIGHER PRICES UNLESS EXCEPTIONAL CIRCUSMTANCES CAUSE THEM TO TAKE LOSSES, SPECULATORS EXERT PRESSURE ON OIL PRICE TO RISE.

Oil speculators playing with fire:

Foolish oil speculators with advanced false perception and logic may think they are on to a sure winner in oil because there is insatiable demand for it, and production is flagging and so prices must keep on rising.

This is a form of logic but it may be false.

In truth a lot of oil consumption in the world is wasteful and discretionary, many can rein in their consumption considerably eg by making fewer trips and buying smaller fuel efficient cars or using public transport.

HIGH OIL PRICES MAY TRIGGER A RECESSION SERIOUSLY REDUCING GLOBAL OIL DEMAND. They are normally watching like a hawk on the sidelines scouring for news that will cause oil to rise (America attacks Iran) or fall (America releases oil from stockpile) and making bets based on these news.

They are normally not in the market, do not hold positions but based on hunches or bets they will quickly enter and exit the market making a quick small profit.

COLLECTIVELY SUCH OIL DAY TRADERS MAY SIGNIFICANTLY HELP TO SUPPORT AND PUSH PRICES UP. THESE DAY TRADERS NORMALLY DON’T COMMIT THEMSELVES AND THEY WILL ONLY COME IN AND GET OUT QUICKLY WHEN THEY SENSE MARKET MOVING NEWS THAT WILL ALLOW THEM TO MAKE A QUICK KILLING.

The difference between the speculator and genuine buyer:

The speculator is not just waiting to sell off options that he holds before the expiry date but he wants to sell it off at a higher price but the genuine buyer is not going to sell what he has purchased.

The stock of oil that speculators collectively hold is stock that is withheld from the market that will only be released if prices rise.

Speculation is evil:

All speculation is evil and it is a form of extortion, holding genuine consumers or purchasers to ransom to pay a higher price than they otherwise would have in the name of giving the speculator a profit.

Thus in the name of making a profit out of a commodity he has no use for, an oil speculator is willing to bid up prices to get the commodity he wants to speculate in and withhold it until he gets a price increase for it.

A stock speculator snaps up a stock at a lower price in the hope of selling it off to suckers who join in late to buy the stock on the promise of profit for holding that stock. If that stock is so good, why doesn’t the speculator keep it permanently for himself?

THUS SPECULATION IS A NICE WORD FOR FINANCIAL EXTORTION, FOR OPPORTUNISTIC PROFITEERING OR EXPLOITATION AND IT IS ALWAYS EVIL.

MANY ARE SPECULATING WITHOUT REALIZING THEY DO SO. THOSE WHO TRADE STOCKS FOR PROFIT ARE ESSENTIALLY INDULGING IN SPECULATION OR EXTORTION. THOSE WHO BUY THREE HOUSES FOR INVESTMENT ARE ALSO DE FACTO SPECULATORS.

A definition of speculation:

There is financial speculation and speculation in human affairs (eg whether Anwar is a homosexual) and both are evil. You have no right to speculate, adopt positions in something you did not see or know.

For Dr M to say my wife will also quit for him to run is to also unrighteously speculate. Even if he asked his wife and she said she would do so, it is empty talk because it is easy for her to say she would quit when she is not actually MP but if she was a MP (something impossible) she may not do so. IN THIS WAY THE SPECULATOR IS ACTING AS AN EXTORTIONIST DEMANDING RANSOM TO RELEASE THE COMMODITY HE HOLDS TO RANSOM.

THUS REGARDLESS OF THE ACTUAL WORTH OF THE COMMODITY ATTACKED BY SPECULATORS, THE ENTRANCE OF SPECULATORS EXERT PRESSURE FOR IT TO RISE IN PRICE BY ARTIFICIALLY INCREASING DEMAND AND SEQUESTRATING OF STOCK THAT WILL ONLY BE RELEASED ON A PRICE RISE.

Just as people in this world see nothing wrong with smiling, joking and laughing and they worship style when these are all deadly sins that lead to perdition, in the same way they see nothing wrong with speculating and even do not realize they are speculating themselves when speculation is deadly sin, harmful to self (by gambling) and others (making them pay more for a produce).

Speculators are the cause of oil shortages:

Because speculators have no use for the oil options they hold, they must return the oil they hold to the market before their options expires but whilst they hold on to those options, they collectively cause a shortage of oil that exerts pressure on prices to rise, not because prices must rise but prices rise because greedy selfish buyers are anxious to book whatever supplies available for themselves at the exclusion of others (the failed bidder must do without oil, so you bid higher).

THUS OIL SPECULATORS COLLECTIVELY CAUSE A TRANSIENT DYNAMICALLY WAXING AND WANING ARTIFICIAL ILLUSIONARY SHORTAGE THAT WILL ALWAYS BE RESOLVED WHEN SPECULATORS MUST INEVITABLY RELEASE BACK THE OIL THEY HOLD TO RANSOM TO PROFIT FROM A PRICE RISE AS THEIR OPTIONS APPROACH EXPIRY. THIS SHORTAGE IS REPETITIVELY RENEWED AS SPECULATORS TAKE UP NEW LATER DATE OPTIONS FOR OIL TO CONTINUE THEIR ROLLING BETS ON THE MARKETS.

Thus OPEC may be or were correct to say there is no shortage of oil, their production is sufficient to meet demands and it is the speculators who are causing the artificial cyclically renewing resolving shortages. It renews when speculators take on fresh options, it resolves when speculators unwind their options to release the oil back for genuine buyers.

Falling oil prices:

It was in the news last night that oil fell a few dollars as if it was welcomed news but nobody has an idea exactly why it is falling.

Today there is a headline that the Dow rallied because of continuing falling oil prices.

All these are an indication that not just laymen but even those professionals and experts are in doubt and uncertainty as to the causes of the violent gyrations of oil prices. They express consternations when prices soar and they are relieved and happy as oil prices retreat, not understanding what the TRUE reasons are for oil gyrating up and down so wildly.

THE TRUE REASON WHY OIL PRICES ARE GYRATING SO WILDLY MAY BE BECAUSE THE OIL MARKET IS INFESTED BY SPECULATORS JUST AS A DOG OR CAT CAN BE BADLY INFESTED BY FLEAS AND IT IS THE COLLECTIVE EMOTIONAL ACTIONS OF THESE GREEDY FOR GAIN AND FEARFUL FOR LOSS SPECULATORS THAT CAUSE OIL TO GYRATE WILDLY UP AND DOWN.

ALL ALONG THERE MAY NOT HAVE BEEN ANY TRUE SHORTAGES OF OIL BUT ANY SHORTAGES WERE DUE TO SPECULATORS WITHHOLDING STOCK TEMPORARILY FOR RANSOM. NOW PRICES ARE DROPPING BECAUSE SPECULATORS WHO ARE OIL BULLS MAY BE FEARFUL OF LOSSES AND UNWINDING THEIR POSITIONS WHILST SPECULATORS WHO ARE OIL BEARS MAY BE SHORTING THE MARKET, SELLING BORROWED OIL ON THE ANTICIPATION IT WILL CONTINUE TO FALL AND THEY CAN RETURN THE OIL CHEAPLY.

Even people who are experts may be mystified and confused as to the underlying causes of the gyrations in prices of oil when the prime cause may be the shenanigans of these oil speculators who if banned from the market may cause sanity and predictability to return.

Speculation is gambling and extortion:

Speculation is gambling in the sense that you are risking your money in a bet that prices will rise or fall so that you may make a profit but you may also lose your money if your bet fails.

Speculation is extortion and gangsterism in the sense it is withholding stock that would otherwise be available to be returned only if the consumer gives you a profit.

Before going in for the ride now cornering the market:

Initially when oil speculators were a minority in the market they may be relatively powerless, going in for the ride with relatively lean pickings just like little fish hang around sharks and pick up whatever morsels left behind by the marauding shark.

Today, when powerful hedge and pension funds and bank trading desks are in the market, further armed by margin trading that allows them to amplify their bets, they are no longer going in for ride but their power in withholding and releasing a sizeable portion of oil from the market can dictate price rises and falls and so they can now manipulate the market either individually or collectively by sheer weight of their collective financial strength.

MANY YEARS AGO, THE PRESENCE OF SPECULATORS IN THE OIL MARKET MAY BE SMALL AND THEY DID NOT HAVE THE ABILITY TO PUSH PRICES UP SO HIGH BUT THEY MERELY PROFITED WHEN THEY BET RIGHT THAT PRICES WILL RISE OR FALL BUT TODAY WITH THE COMING IN OF THE ‘BIG BOYS’ AND COUNTLESS OTHER SMALL FRIES OR DILLETANTES, SPECULATORS ARE NOW DICTATING THE OIL MARKET, DETERMINING WHETHER OIL PRICES WILL RISE OR FALL NOT JUST BY SMALL AMOUNTS BUT BIG AMOUNTS.

What is their collective strength?

Even if all speculators operate totally independently of each other, they may be or are acting in concert to drive up oil prices because that is the creed spoken or unspoken of the speculator.

Because the purpose of the speculator is to hold on to his stock until he realizes a reasonable profit, they will collectively act in concert to withhold stock until a reasonable price increase has been achieved before they or some amongst them will take profit and sell.

THERE MAY BE FORMAL CARTELS OR SYNDICATES IN THE OIL MARKET THAT HAVE CORNERED THE OIL MARKET (ENRON LIKE AMERICAN ENTITY WITH AMERICAN HQ BUT OPERATING SECRETLY IN LONDON) BUT COLLECTIVELY, BY THEIR CREED OF WITHHOLDING STOCK FOR PROFIT, ALL SPECULATORS COLLECTIVELY EXERT HARD TO RESIST PRESSURE FOR OIL PRICES TO RISE.

What is this increased demand?

Commentators and even speculators themselves tout ‘increased demand’ as an excuse for soaring oil prices.

But what is this ‘increased demand’ composed of?

A substantial portion of this increased demand may be artificial, not true. It is this withholding of oil stock in the hands of speculators that is artificially increasing demand to the limit or beyond the limit of supply that is causing shortages.

OIL SPECULATORS BY COLLECTIVELY TAKING UP AND RELEASING OPTIONS FOR OIL MAY BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ROLLING WAXING AND WANING SHORTAGES OF OIL ON THE MARKET THAT WOULD NOT HAVE OCCURRED IF THEY WERE ABSENT.

YES IT MAY BE TRUE THERE IS INCREASED DEMAND, BUT THIS INCREASED DEMAND MAY BE VIRTUAL THAN REAL, THE RESULT OF SPECULATORS HOLDING SUBSTANTIAL OIL TO RANSOM.

Who is to blame for credit crunch:

I do not always decry others' views. What the professor says below is quite succinct in describing what happened. The greatest fools may be society who may have to suffer and pay for the actions of these bankers and financial wizards of Wall Street:

Professor Peter Morici of the University of Maryland has been an adviser to the US Congress and government.

Wizardry. Alchemy. Lead into gold. Are these the playthings only of medieval fools?

The credit crunch tells us perhaps not. The Holy Grail of medieval science was to find the formula to turn lead into gold.

And why not? Wealth without work. Everyone was for that, but we modern folks know better. Or do we?

Today, globalisation is driving down profit margins in making everything, from steel to software. If you make a profit, soon someone in China will make it begone.

But deal-making, putting companies together and taking them apart, financing it all, offers great rewards.

Then there are the risks. Making risks evaporate in the morning sun, or the shadows of Wall Street, seems to be where the wealth lies.

Enter our financial engineers. They don't deal in metals or megabytes, they deal in companies that make them.

Combining them, financing them, taking them apart, putting them together again. That's the stuff of modern fortunes.

But what of those risks? The engineers that assemble these deals say all the risks can be laid off on other engineers and their clients.

And by investing in each other, everyone's money will be safe. Profits without risk.

They even thought they could do that with sub-prime mortgages - home loans to people who really couldn't afford them.

They bought each other's debt and erased one another's risk by dealing with one another in a giant chain letter. Until someone realised that what they were trading wasn't worth a hill of beans.

The house of cards has collapsed, but were these guys the fools? Or do true wizards live on Wall Street?

Perhaps they do, because the engineers have escaped with their big paydays and bonuses, and central banks like the Federal Reserve and Bank of England are underwriting the tab to foist the bill on all of us - the taxpayers.

Who are the fools here? Perhaps you and me. The engineers have turned worthless paper into personal fortunes by sticking us with the tab.

Don’t let this befall you:

This child is born into suffering, it is in a daze and wasted.

It is not the vicissitudes of misfortune that caused him to be born thus nor is it the whim of a cruel God to permit such suffering and it may be correct view to perceive that such suffering are the fruits of karma and many, even those who think they are quite good do not realize that their actions are committing themselves to suffering that is as bad and even worse than what this child is undergoing.

SO YOU CAN CHOOSE TO CONTINUE TO BE PREOCCUPIED WITH WORLDLY CONCERNS, MAKING MONEY, ENJOYING SENSATE PLEASURES, GOSSIPING AND KEEPING YOURSELF IN GOOD HEALTH OR YOU CAN ABANDON ALL CONCERNS FOR THIS WORLD, NOT CARE FOR WHAT YOU SHALL EAT AND WEAR AND HEAD FOR THE SAFETY AND BLISS OF DEATH FREE HEAVEN.

Resisting & disliking:

Faced with whatever extrinsic intrusion of force (eg anger or excitement in someone’s voice or the brightness or heat of the sun), the ordinary emotional person automatically, involuntarily arouses his own mental force to resist and dislike (or like) what is happening.

Even if it is not possible for you and everyone here to not stir your mental force to resist or counter external force bombarding your mind, it is possible to do so and it is a state that confers no suffering.

Even if it is not possible for you and everyone here to not stir your mental force to dislike or like whatever that is happening to you, it is possible to neither like nor dislike and that is an incomparably more blissful state of existence.

THUS WHENEVER AN EMOTIONAL PERSON IS FACED BY THE IMPACT OF FORCE REPRESENTED BY THE HOT AND BRIGHT SUN, HE AUTOMATICALLY, REFLEXIVELY STIRS HIS MENTAL FORCE TO RESIST AND DISLIKE IT AND IT IS THIS RAISING OF HIS MENTAL FORCE THAT CAUSES HIM TO SUFFER HEADACHE AFTERWARDS.

The Buddha said the enlightened person can touch the sun and moon with his hand. If he can touch the sun without being burnt, it is impossible that the sun can harm the person if he is blameless, a Buddha.

Just as people in a trance can walk across a pit of glowing coals without yelling or screaming in pain, it may not be the sun that is causing your headache but it is you who is not blameless who is a slave of your mental force that is stirred to resist and dislike that is the cause of the pain.

Warding off a blow:

Just as people automatically without thinking raise their hand to ward off a blow, they automatically raise their force of self preservation when extrinsic force (angry voice or hot sun) impacts on their minds.

Just because you and everyone here will automatically raise your hand to ward off a blow does not mean a Buddha or noble person will also do so, a true Christian will not turn the other cheek and let the blow land without resisting.

THUS WHENEVER EXTRINSIC FORCE IMPACTS ON EMOTIONAL MINDS, THEY AUTOMATICALLY RAISE THEIR MENTAL FORCES TO RESIST AND ON TOP OF THAT THEY ALSO STIR THEIR MENTAL FORCE TO EXPERIENCE REVULSION OR DISLIKE AND SO THEY STIR THEIR MENTAL FORCES TWICE: TO RESIST OR BLOCK AND TO DISLIKE (SOMETIMES LIKE).

Warding off blow is conditioned not natural:

If you raise your hand to strike a baby it would not raise its hand or even flinch because it is has not conditioned itself to protect itself.

IF IT IS TRUE THAT RAISING YOUR HAND TO WARD OFF A BLOW IS NOT NATURAL, IT IS SOMETHING CONDITIONED SO WELL THE PERSON NOW CANNOT HELP IT AND IT APPLIES FORCE ON THAT PERSON’S MIND THAT CAUSES STRESS AND THENCE HEADACHE WHILST FURTHER ENSLAVING IT TO FORCE, IT IS FAR BETTER TO BE HIT AND EVEN DIE AND GO TO HEAVEN THAN TO PROTECT YOUR LIFE HERE AND RETURN TO SUFFER AGAIN AND AGAIN, THEN YOU HAVE WRONG VIEW THAT MAY ACCORDING TO THE BUDDHA LEAD TO THE ANIMAL WOMB IF YOU BELIEVE RAISING YOUR HAND TO WARD OFF A BLOW IS THE MOST NATURAL AND SANE THING TO DO.

Anwar to be charged in court:

If you are emotionally partisan you may become upset and then be driven to deny you are upset if you think Anwar is again victim of political conspiracy.

Nowadays I am above emotional partisanship and do not have to deny to myself I am not hurt because I am not hurt.

Anwar is fighting very dangerous opponents who will do what it takes to deny him and that includes murder.

Either Anwar is telling the truth he did not sodomize Saiful or the ruling elite and police is telling truth that they have a case against Anwar.

Based on the track record of crass corruption, abuse of power, unfairness, electoral cheating, gerrymander and manipulation of judges by the ruling elite and Anwar’s record in speech and actions, it is likely if not certain Anwar is telling the truth. It may be a coincidence that such charges are again surfacing when Anwar has again become a credible threat to the ruling elite or it may be precisely because he is now a credible threat that they must eliminate him by hook or by crook.

I think the ruling elite and their corrupted police elite (what sort of IGP would punch a political prisoner, what sort of ruling elite will try to secretly poison a political rival?) is going for broke, they are aware what is at stake for them if Anwar assumes power and so they are willing to swear to God they are good and Anwar is instead bad.

It is unlikely they know the divine punishment in store for them that is far more tormenting and everlasting than whatever wealth and power they may exercise here. Jesus said fear Him who can destroy your soul in hell. So either Anwar or his detractors that include Badawi will have their souls destroyed in hell.

IN THE PAST I WOULD BE EMOTIONALLY UPSET BY SUCH A DEVELOPMENT BUT NOW I HAVE RISEN ABOVE THE FRAY, MY MIND CALM AND STEADY, CLEARLY THINKING. I DO NOT HAVE TO SMILE AND DENY HURT BECAUSE I AM NOT HURT.

WHOEVER IS FABRICATING AND TELLING LIES IN THIS MATTER OF ANWAR’S SODOMY IS ASKING FOR A BIG ROASTING IN HELL.

Nothing good can come out of this government:

It was Jesus who said to the effect that the bad tree cannot produce any good fruit and so if anyone believes that a good genuine prosecution (Anwar’s sodomy charge) for the good of the nation can come from a bunch of people who has been clearly shown to be corrupt and get away even with murder and abuse of powers, then you may be right or you have wrong view that the Buddha said is the way to hell or the animal womb.

IF YOU SAY SAIFUL IS IMPORTANT FROM THE POINT OF THE LAW THEN GOD WILL ASK HIM ABOUT ALTANTUYA, THEN BADAWI CAN SAY SHE IS ALREADY DEAD AND DOES NOT MATTER.

Comment: he thinks he has answered the question appropriately but he is evasive and the answer is inappropriate and therefore he is exercising false logic and perception that will end in mad logic and perception.

The answer to the question is either yes or no.

Just because it is not new does not mean it cannot be used to sabotage Anwar. If Badawi thinks that the question was already in the news before the election it is therefore not a ploy to sabotage Anwar, he has advanced false logic and perception. Here again he is giving an excuse or telling lies to evade the question whose true answer may be yes, it was meant to sabotage Anwar.

He is telling off others. If Saiful was sodomized a few times, it is consensual because he went back for more and therefore he is a willing accomplice and should be charged. Thus here again Badawi is showing he does not know what he is talking about but instead twist things to tick others off. The answer should be that it is possible that if Saiful engaged in it consensually he too should be charged according to the law.

ANYONE WHO HAS BEEN SHOWN TO TELL LIES OR BE DISHONEST IN HIS ANSWERS IS NOT A PERSON OF INTEGRITY AND CANNOT BE TRUSTED TO TELL THE TRUTH ELSEWHERE AND SO HERE AS IN MANY PLACES BADAWI AND THE RULING ELITE HAS SHOWN THEY LACK CREDIBILITY AND THEREFORE ARE ALL LIARS OUT TO PROTECT THEIR OWN BACKSIDES, NOT THE PUBLIC’S.

Badawi & Najib not on solid ground:

Even though they hold the high ground, Badawi and Najib must be worried.

Apart from a fatal voter backlash that may exceed their attempts to stuff the polling boxes with false votes, there is possibility that component BN parties and even the UMNO faction aligned with say Razaleigh or individual UMNO MPs may abandon the party or cross over and that will be the deserved end of Badawi who has been feeding the trough just like his predecessor.

BADAWI IS IN A PRECARIOUS POSITION BROUGHT ABOUT BY HIS OWN FOLLY AND NOW ONE CARELESS MISSTEP CAN MAKE THE TRAPDOOR BELOW THEIR FEET OPEN SO THAT THEY WILL BE HUNG INSTEAD OF THEIR NEMESIS.

Why won’t Badawi say it?

“But the story of the charge against him is not new and emerged even before (Anwar’s wife and PKR president Datuk Seri Dr) Wan Azizah (Ismail) resigned (as Permatang Pauh MP),” implies that it is not a plot to sabotage Anwar. If that is implied why doesn’t Badawi call a spade a spade and say, “No, there is no sabotage”?

THERE IS ALWAYS AUTOMATIC RESISTANCE TO TELLING LIES BECAUSE THE PERSON IS NOT MAD YET AND NO MATTER HOW HE DENIES HE KNOWS WHAT HE IS SAYING IS A LIE AND SO HE WILL SAY IT INDIRECTLY OR HINT. ‘BUT THE STORY IS NOT NEW’ IS AN EVASIVE INDIRECT WAY OF TELLING WHAT WOULD BE A LIE THAT IT IS NOT A SABOTAGE.

Even though it was already in the news, the plot to sabotage Anwar also preceded the news of Anwar running for a by election and so it is just a matter of Badawi dovetailing or fitting the preexistent plot into the plot to sabotage Anwar’s by election attempt.

JUST BECAUSE IT IS ALREADY IN THE NEWS DOES NOT MEAN THE CHARGE CANNOT BE A SABOTAGE ATTEMPT. IT MERELY MEANT THE CHARGE WAS SPED UP IN TIME FOR THE BYELECTION.

IT IS NOT THE STORY OF THE CHARGE AGAINST ANWAR THAT IS NOT NEW AS BADAWI CONTENDED BUT IT IS THE STORY OF THE ALLEGATION THAT IS NOT NEW, THE STORY OF THE CHARGE IS NEW BECAUSE THIS IS THE FIRST TIME ANWAR HAS BEEN CHARGED, THUS BADAWI IS SPEAKING CARELESSLY.

THE CHARGE IS NEW, NOT ALREADY IN THE NEWS, IT WAS THE ALLEGATION OF SODOMY THAT IS ALREADY IN THE NEWS BECAUSE IT WAS INTENDED TO FRAME ANWAR AND PUT HIM AWAY AND THE CHARGE THAT IS NEW NOW IS DESIGNED TO IMPACT NEGATIVELY ON ANWAR OR SABOTAGE ANWAR IN THE BYELECTION AND SO BADAWI IS TALKING NONSENSE THAT BECAUSE HE BELIEVES IS VALID, WILL END IN INSANITY AS HIS MIND DEGRADES WITH AGE.

THE REASON WHY BADAWI WON’T SAY IT IS NOT SABOTAGE IS BECAUSE HE KNOWS INSIDE IT IS A LIE AND SO HE HINTS THAT BECAUSE IT IS ALREADY IN THE NEWS, IT CANNOT BE SABOTAGE.

Why Badawi is headed for torment:

Anyone who speaks like Badawi (or the ruling elite eg Syed Hamid), is generating conflict in himself and others. Emotional conflict is about force disturbance of the mind that is never a pleasure but suffering.

Not only is being disturbed in mind a suffering never pleasure, it is conditioning so that each time you disturb your mind or generate conflict by telling lies and tongue twisting, you are conditioning your mind ever greater to disturbance that will end in final total uncontrollable intense disturbance and that is always even unbearable torment for which all the pleasures, power and wealth you gained from your unrighteousness is scant or even worthless compensation.

ANYONE WHO SPEAKS LIKE BADAWI IS NOT A MAN OF INTEGRITY AND SO IF YOU CANNOT SEE AND TRUST HIM, YOU ARE GOING TO GET HURT AND EVEN PAY WITH YOUR LIFE SOMEDAY BECAUSE IF YOU CAN TRUST BADAWI AFTER ALL HE SAID, YOU CAN ALSO TRUST FALSELY OTHER CONMEN AND ONE DAY ONE CONMAN WILL DELIVER YOU TO DEATH.

Justice of convenience:

The BN practices justice of convenience not once but so many times it is hard to give an account of all the miscarriages or denial of justice where it involved vested interests.

The former Dewan Speaker Vijayan escaped the law when it was revealed there were videos he secretly recorded of him having sexual trysts with various women. Police even said they destroyed the videos that Karpal Singh presented to them to facilitate investigations.

RATHER THAN SAFE GUARD EVIDENCE, POLICE IS DESTROYING INCRIMINATING EVIDENCE IN THE VIJAYAN CASE WHERE HE WAS PROTECTED AND ESCAPED VIRTUALLY UNSCATHED.

FACED WITH SO MANY CASES OF ABUSE OF JUSTICE, ANYONE WHO CAN STILL SAY THIS IS A RULING PARTY OF FAIRNESS AND JUSTICE IS A FOOL WHO DESERVES TO BE CONNED AND EVEN PAY WITH HIS LIFE IN THE FUTURE.

Credibility shot to bits:

The track record of this government is such that its credibility in terms of truthfulness and freedom from corruption and manipulation of justice is shot to bits and it is thick skinned maintaining the facade or semblance of respectability or honour.

Anyone who thinks the government still has credibility is in serious doubt and uncertainty that the Buddha said is one of three lower fetters to future woe.

I AM IN NO DOUBT AND UNCERTAINTY ABOUT THE CREDIBILITY OF THIS GOVERNMENT AND THE ANSWER IS THAT IT HAS NO CREDIBILITY AND BEHAVING LIKE THE EMPEROR GOING AROUND WITH NO CLOTHES PREACHING THE VIRTUES OF WEARING CLOTHES.

Badawi’s straight faced finger rolling:

If you watch Badawi’s hands when he was speaking about Anwar’s case, the fingers of both hands were locked together (to enforce discipline or be on guard not to slip) and his right thumb was rhythmically rolling over the left thumb to reflect tension and the use of force to push through the discomfort or falsity that he is saying.

People used to lying are good at putting on a fairly straight or even smiling face to deceive others what he is saying is friendly and therefore true but if you watch the thumb rolling back and forwards it betrays tension.

The folly of having to calm yourself down:

IF YOU HAVE TO CALM YOURSELF DOWN IT MEANS YOU ARE GENERATING RESTLESSNESS IN YOURSELF EITHER BY YOURSELF OR YOU ARE PERMITTING OTHERS TO CREATE RESTLESSNES IN YOU AND IF YOU EXPOSE YOURSELF TO RESTLESSNESS, IT IS FUTILE AND MAD TO TRY TO WILL YOURSELF TO STAY CALM ALTHOUGH YOU CANNOT HELP DOING SO BECAUSE GIVING RESTLESSNESS A FREE REIGN IS MAD.

A major purpose of Badawi in stroking his thumb up and down that he is likely unconscious of, is to calm himself down.

The reason why he needs to calm himself down is because what he is doing, putting on a show, creates stress and restlessness and he needs to calm himself down so as to appear prime ministerial and genuine.

However he is practicing controlled conflict, on the one hand creating restlessness by forcefully putting on a show in what and how he speaks and other hand using force to forcefully suppress his restlessness to stay or appear calm.

This deceit and tension of conflicting creating restlessness and forcing oneself to be calm is conditioning and subject to loss of control that will end in agony, uncontrollable restlessness.

IF YOU DO NOT CREATE RESTLESSNESS FOR YOURSELF BY EXPOSING YOURSELF UNNECESSARILY TO THE RESTLESSNESS INDUCING BEHAVIOR OF OTHERS AND BY NOT BEHAVING IN A RESTLESSNESS GENERATING WAY, YOU WILL NOT NEED TO SIMULTANEOUSLY FORCEFUL TRY TO INDUCE RELATIVE CALM THAT IS A DELICATE BALANCING ACT THAT WILL ALWAYS END IN LOSS OF CONTROL AND MAD RESTLESSNESS.

SO WHETHER YOU ARE A NOBODY OR BADAWI, IF YOU DO WANT BADAWI IS DOING, ROLLING HIS FINGER TO KEEP CALM WHILST HE SPEAKS IN A WAY THAT GENERATES RESTLESSNESS, HE IS PRACTICING CONTROLLED CONFLICT THAT WILL END IN MADNESS FOR HIM AND MOST PEOPLE INCLUDING THOSE WHO THINK THEY ARE GOOD ARE IN THE SAME BOAT.
