One senator who saw pictures of Osama said it was ‘pretty gruesome’ and this is admission Osama was brutally murdered by the US.
IT IS NEVER AN ACCIDENT THE PICTURES OF A DEAD OSAMA ARE GRUESOME, IT REFLECTS THE BRUTAL VIOLENT MANNER HE WAS WILFULLY KILLED AND THE FACT THAT IT WAS DESCRIBED AS GRUESOME BY THE SENATOR IS TANTAMOUNT TO ADMISSION THE US BUTCHERED HIM AND THAT IS THE REASON THE PHOTOS ARE NOT RELEASED, FOR FEAR OF RETRIBUTION, NOT ‘WE DO NOT TROT OUT THIS STUFF AS TROPHY’
In an interview with CNN, Senator Inhofe agreed that the photos taken in the compound in Pakistan immediately after bin Laden was killed were "pretty gruesome".
"One of the shots went through an ear and out through the eye socket. Or it went in through the eye socket and out - then exploded," he said.
Is it a coincidence?
Is it a coincidence that the US should hate Osama and he should end up brutally violently murdered at the hands of its troops? Unless these troops showed remarkable restraint, it is likely they would have shot Osama mercilessly with as much venom as their pent up hate can muster and so it is not an accident Osama ended up looking gruesome.
If you dare kill him brutally you should be man enough to face the consequences whatever they may be by letting the world see what you have done. And so the US is behaving cowardly by concealing the photos in the hope of evading revenge.
It was said Osama’s only hope of being taken alive is if he was caught naked because American soldiers are so afraid to die they fear he may be wearing suicide jackets that put them at risk.

The US may face the financial barrel of the gun:
Many nations like China hold huge reserves of USD more than is necessary to trade with the world and the US and if these holders start to unload a substantial portion of their USD holdings, they could drive down the value of the USD even dramatically to near worthless values, the reasons they are not doing so at the moment is because they are desirous of exporting to the US to earn pieces of paper (USD) that they deem valuable and desirable.
WHAT IF THEY BEGIN TO LOSE FAITH IN EXPORTING TO EARN PIECES OF PAPER THE US PRINTS AND THEY DECIDE TO TRADE AMONGST THEMSELVES AND INTERNALLY RATHER THAN EXPORTING FOR PIECES OF PAPER THAT MAY TURN OUT TO BE TOILET PAPER LATER?
Not just these sovereign nations but many big entities, hedge funds, investment banks (Goldman, Morgan Stanley) are capable of and have big positions in the forex markets with view to making easy money based on the movements of currency (these people will sell their grandmothers if she is worth anything).
You can short a currency just as you can short a stock or commodity and so if there is a big momentum to short the USD then it will drive down the value of the USD very quickly even based on very low volumes and the idea is to buy back later to get more USD and these acquired greater numbers of USD can again be used to sell to drive down the USD so that with many cycles of selling high and buying back low, the speculators come to hold a massive pile of USD more than when they started whilst the US economy is crippled because its currency is worth much less and it has difficulty buying the commodities it needs (eg oil, food, Apple computers from China) whilst the world that has lost faith in trading with the US for worthless pieces of paper settle to trade amongst themselves with the US as a pariah in the periphery.
A NATION’S CURRENCY AND THAT INCLUDES THE USD CAN BE SHORTED AND SPECULATORS ARE MERCILESS CUT THROATS DEDICATED TO MAKING MONEY OUT OF NOTHING DOING NO USEFUL WORK. IT DOES MATTER IF THEY KILL THEIR GRANDMOTHERS, SO LONG AS THEY GAIN THEIR EASY MONEY.

US has put itself at the mercy of China:
The fool has a wrong understanding of a situation and so the US foolishly thinks nothing of increasingly indebting itself to the world (and China in particular) not realizing it is putting a noose around its neck and leaving itself at the mercy of others (China in particular).
THE US MAY STILL BE MILITARILY SUPERIOR TO CHINA (WHICH IS CATCHING UP) BUT IN THE EVENT OF HOSTILITY, CHINA CAN CRIPPLE THE US BECAUSE IT CAN OFFLOAD ITS HUGE PILE OF USD THAT WILL DEPLETE THE US’ RESERVES OF OTHER CURRENCIES (EURO, YEN, YUAN, ETC) SO THAT USD WILL PLUNGE IN VALUE FOR CHINA TO BUY BACK LATER IN MUCH GREATER QUANTITIES THAN WHEN IT STARTED OFF WITH AND THIS GREATER POOL OF USD CAN AGAIN BE USED TO ATTACK THE CURRENCY BY SELLING UNTIL THE USD IS MUCH DECIMATED IN VALUE AND CHINA HOLDS A GREATER POOL OF USD THAT GRANTS IT GREATER POWER OVER THE US LIKE A MAN HOLDING A GUN AT THE HEAD OF THE US.
UNLESS THE US WANTS TO PLAY FOUL, RESORT TO MILITARY ACTIONS AGAINST CHINA THEN IT HAS SLIPPED A NOOSE AROUND ITS NECK BY PERMITTING CHINA TO HOLD SO MUCH OF ITS CURRENCY THAT CAN BE USED TO ATTACK AND CRIPPLE IT. PRINTING MORE USD DOES NOT NEGATE SUCH ATTACKS AND DISTRUST OF THE USD MAY DRIVE NATIONS TO HOLD THE MINIMAL AMOUNT OF USD NECESSARY TO TRADE WITH THE US AND THE REST OF THE WORLD OR THEY MAY VOTE TO CREATE A WORLD CURRENCY RATHER THAN USE THE UNRELIABLE USD.
IT IS CHINA NOT THE US NOW THAT IS HOLDING THE TRUMP CARD. THE FOOL KEEP PRINTING MONEY TO BUY FROM THE WORLD NOT REALIZING THAT SUCH FECKLESS ACTIONS HAVE GRAVE FUTURE CONSEQUENCES.
No escape for the US:
Because the USD is the currency that is used domestically and in trade with the rest of world and foreigners (especially China) holds vast reserves of it, the US cannot escape by printing a different currency or keep printing more but must live with a gun pointed at its head of others holding vast sums of its own currency, its own blood. No matter how you try to dilute your own blood others still hold a significant portion of your own blood.
Thus if things turn nasty, China has enough ammunition in USD to keep selling to exhaust the US of its foreign reserves that will cause the value of the USD in foreign currencies to collapse and then if it wished, China could rebuy those now dirt cheap USD to rebuild its arsenal of USD to levels even greater than before until the US is crippled, down on its knees.
THE US CAN KEEP PRINTING MORE USD BUT IF THE WORLD DOES NOT DESIRE TO CONVERT THEIR CURRENCIES TO USD, THERE IS LITTLE DEMAND FOR USD THEN IT IS AN EXERCISE IN FUTILITY JUST AS I CAN KEEP ON PRINTING MORE AND MORE OF MY CURRENCY BUT IF NO ONE IS INTERESTED IN BUYING MY CURRENCY, WHAT IS THE POINT?
May be worthless but still a deadly weapon:
The pile of USD that China holds may be worthless if the US cannot fulfil its promised obligations but it can be a tool to destroy the US by making it difficult if not impossible for the US to trade with the world.

In the old Wild West, a man can be hanged for murder if he shot another in the back. For Seals to shoot a man dead because his hands are behind his back is murder. IT IS WISHFUL THINKING THAT A WEAK USD IS A PAINLESS SOLUTION TO THE TRADE IMBALANCES AND DEBTS THE US OWES THE REST OF THE WORLD BECAUSE IF THE USD FALLS SIGNIFICANTLY THEN THE US WILL REVERSE ROLES WITH CHINA WORKING FOR DIRT CHEAP PAY WHILST PAYING ‘THROUGH THE NOSE’ FOR DESIRED IMPORTS FROM THE WORLD. THIS CAN BE A QUITE PAINFUL OR UNPALATABLE COMBO NOT THE PAINLESS SOLUTION FANTASIZED.
AND IT WILL BE SOME TIME BEFORE THE US SEES ANY GENUINE PAYMENT BECAUSE IT OWES CHINA A LOT OF MONEY AND WILL HAVE TO CLEAR ALL THOSE DEBTS BEFORE IT GETS TRULY PAID.
The fool is lulled to abuse his position as owner of the international currency of trade to build up massive debts by keep printing money to fund purchases to live way beyond his means not realizing the borrowed money has been spent on useless perishable consumption and now as a result of his weak economic health, his currency is devalued and so he will have to slog at low pay to repay his debts (de facto working for free or no true pay) whilst he pays through his nose for exorbitantly priced imports. Should he buckle and collapse into a severe depression as a result of being unable to cope, the rest of the world too will be affected but then the situation is like checkmate or painting yourself into a corner. Who asked the US and the world to paint themselves into such a corner?
THE US HAS ALREADY SPENT MONEY THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN RESERVED FOR THE FUTURE AND NOW IT IS HEAVILY IN DEBT TO THE WORLD AND WITH THE NOOSE NOW TIGHTENING AND THE USD WEAKENING, THE US MUST WORK FOR FREE (CANCELLATION OF THOSE DEBTS) WHILST GETTING PAID MUCH LESS BECAUSE OF THE WEAK USD WHILST HE IS FORCED TO PAY THROUGH THE NOSE FOR EXPENSIVE IMPORTS BECAUSE HIS USD IS WEAK. THIS MAY BREAK HIS BACK SO THAT HE SLUMS INTO A DEPRESSION PULLING THE REST OF THE WORLD WITH HIM.
JUST WHEN THE US NEEDS TO PAY BACK ITS MOUNTAINOUS DEBTS WITH THE WORLD THAT HAS BECOME TOO BIG TO SWEEP UNDER THE CARPET, IT IS HIT WITH THE DOUBLE WHAMMY OF GETTING PAID LOW FOR HIS LABORS AND HAVING TO PAY THROUGH HIS NOSE FOR IMPORTS BECAUSE OF A WEAK DOLLAR.
When it rains, it pours:
Lulled by the strong USD and the licence of being able to print at will to fund purchases, the fool (America) does not realize he is delivering himself into a deadly debt trap.
When his debts become too heavy to sweep under the carpet, his USD weakens so that he gets paid less just when he needs to repay his mountainous debts whilst he has to pay more for the goods he imports from the world. Whilst he is working to repay his mountainous debts, he will have to survive on nothing because whatever he gets paid will be used to cancel existing debts not fund purchases from the world.
Many ordinary people do not realize they are in a similar grave or dangerous position. They have a false sense of security not realizing there is terrible suffering in repayment ahead for them as a result of their present conduct.

Because the US owes China (and many countries) a lot of money, the money it gets paid lowly as a result of the weak USD cannot be used to fund purchases from the world but will have to go towards cancelling existing debts and so the US will not get paid for its lowly paid work for the world whilst it has to pay ‘through its nose’ to buy from the world because of a weak USD. This is a burden that may be too much for US citizens accustomed to unfettered consumption and little work.
The reality of US’ balance of accounts with the world:
How does the US accumulate such a huge deficit or debt with the rest of the world?
Should the USD weaken as it is now, then should US goods be unchanged in price it would make US goods cheaper and more attractive on the world markets but would not make it easier for the US to repay its debts to the world but it would have to pay more in USD to get goods and services from the rest of the world.
WHEN THE USD WEAKENS, THE DEBTS OF THE US WITH THE WORLD REMAINS THE SAME BECAUSE IT IS DENOMINATED IN USD, ALTHOUGH THE GOODS IT SELLS BECOMES MORE ATTRACTIVE BECAUSE THEY ARE CHEAPER, IF PRICES ARE UNCHANGED NOT RAISED, THE US GETS THE SAME AMOUNTS OF USD TO REPAY ITS EXISTING DEBTS BUT IT WILL HAVE TO PAY MORE USD TO GET GOODS AND SERVICES FROM THE WORLD.
THE VALUE OF ITS FUTURE DEBTS RISES FASTER BECAUSE IT WILL HAVE TO ISSUE MORE USD TO BUY GOODS IN CREDIT FROM OTHER COUNTRIES.
SHOULD FOREIGNERS WANT TO EXIT THE US, THEY WILL GET LESS FOREIGN CURRENCY FOR EVERY USD THEY RETURN, THUS IF CHINA WANTS OUT, IT WILL GET LESS YUAN FOR EVERY USD IT RETURNS TO THE US COMPARED WITH IN THE PAST. IF THE USD BECOMES TOILET ROLL, CHINA WILL GET NO YUANS FOR THE USD IT HOLDS.
SHOULD THERE BE A RUN ON THE US CURRENCY WITH THE VALUE OF THOSE WANTING TO EXIT GREATER THAN FOREIGN RESERVES THAT THE US HOLDS, THEN THE VALUE OF THE USD WILL DROP EVEN PLUNGE AND THE US WILL BE UNABLE TO FULFILL ITS OBLIGATIONS WITHOUT BORROWING IN THAT CURRENCY BECAUSE IT DOES NOT PRINT THAT CURRENCY. Even though there is a flux of money changing into and out of USD, at any moment there is a lot of money in transit denominated in USD and this represents a considerable permanent loan to the US government.

The euro takes part of USD’s free lunch:
Individually the European nations do not have the weight to counter the US but together, with a common currency, it commands much greater clout and credibility as a viable alternative trade settlement currency that will take a slice of the free lunch that hitherto the US has quietly gobbled.
Thus with the euro, the European nations did not have to use the USD to settle trade amongst themselves and between the Eurozone and direct trading partners, further the euro is a viable reserve currency for others to use to settle trade amongst themselves rather than use the USD.

When people outside the US prefer to buy and sell with USD rather than the local currency, the value stored in the USD is a loan not a gift to the US treasury.
When China deposits a lot of money in US treasury bills, it is a loan not a gift.

To understand the nature of today’s UMNO and things it will do to get what it wants, one must realize that today’s UMNO had been purged by Dr M and now moulded even indelibly (cannot be reverted) in his image.
The sole purpose of dissolving UMNO in 1988 was so that UMNO could be reconstituted with Dr M in charge and reapplications for membership would be screened to exclude those unfriendly to him and did not share his creeds.
In the aftermath of the UMNO elections of 1988 in which Dr M narrowly beat his challenger Tengku Razaleigh, it was found that there were irregularities in the membership of some divisions and so the vote was compromised, there was a court challenge by Razaleigh’s supporters and the judge surprised those with common sense by declaring UMNO illegal as a result of the election rather than calling for fresh elections that would disadvantage Dr M. Subsequently Razaleigh’s faction was denied right to register a party under UMNO name but Dr M’s faction unsurprisingly got approval to register UMNO baru. I think in tandem with this crisis was a judiciary crisis in which the Supreme court judges were all dismissed, Tun Salleh Abbas was dismissed for allegedly committing an impropriety.

Did Pak Lah try to nail Najib for murder?
In my analysis in the past I said that rather than Anwar as the culprit behind the prosecution involving the Altanturya case; Badawi, who was under pressure to step down, was the culprit responsible for prosecuting the Altanturya case instead of covering up in a potentially lethal ploy to politically kill Najib. Badawi as Homes Affairs minister should know about the Altanturya case and he chose to pursue it to take heat off himself and even to destroy Najib politically.
This release of diplomatic information by Wikileaks suggests my reasoning was correct.

Diplomatic cables released by WikiLeaks reveal that US embassy officials had discussed the possibility of a conspiracy against Najib.
(Free Malaysia Today) - His father had whispered something and the accused appeared agitated. When the court adjourned for recess, the accused banged and kicked the door, yelling: “You can die, Pak Lah! Die, Pak Lah! I am innocent. I am innocent.”
In a startling new twist to the Altantuya Shaariibuu murder case, WikiLeaks had revealed diplomatic cables hinting that former prime minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, known as Pak Lah, might had attempted to fix up his then deputy, Najib Tun Razak.
The case which haunts Najib to this day, had come close to derailing his ambition of becoming prime minister when one of his confidants, Abdul Razak Baginda, was charged with abetting the murder of the Mongolian national.
Razak was eventually acquitted while Najib had forced Abdullah to hand over the reins after Barisan Nasional’s (BN) dismal performance in the 2008 general election.
In the WikiLeaks disclosure to the Asian Sentinel, the conspiracy theory implicating Abdullah was found in a February 2008 cable from the US embassy’s political section chief Mark D Clark.
During the trial, Clark wrote, Razak “appeared uneasy throughout the morning session of court on Feb 20. Razak’s father, Abdullah Malim Baginda, had whispered something to him shortly before the trial had begun for the morning and apparently upset the accused.
“Razak remained quiet throughout the morning hearing, but just after the noon recess was called and as he was leaving the courtroom he kicked and banged the door and yelled ‘You can die, Pak Lah! Die, Pak Lah! I am innocent. I am innocent’. He was later seen crying before his lawyer while his mother attempted to comfort him.”
‘The Sun told to withdraw copies’
The embassy official also noted that local newspapers and the government news service Bernama had reported the outburt, but did not print his statements.
“The short-lived exception was the English language newspaper The Sun, which included the quotations from Razak in its early morning Feb 21 edition. Sources at the newspaper confirmed to us in confidence that the Ministry of Internal Security (Home Ministry) compelled The Sun to withdraw and recall thousands of copies of their first-run paper in which the original quote was included. Prime Minister Abdullah serves concurrently as Minister of Internal Security.”
Clark said that speculation was rife in Malaysia’s online community on what had sparked off the outburst, including conspiracy theories alleging that the Prime Minister’s Office had urged Razak to implicate Najib, and in return, the accused would be spared the guilty verdict and mandatory death sentence.
“Regardless, the Internal Security Ministry would want to limit any possibly inflammatory reference to the prime minister at the trial, and particularly at this juncture due to the proximity of Malaysia’s general election to be held on March 8.
“Any connection between the prime minister and the murder trial would be scandalous. The GOM (Government of Malaysia) reportedly has worked hard to ‘drive (the case) from public view’… and is not about to allow the case to influence the coming election,” read the cable.
Based on the cables provided by WikiLeaks, the Asian Sentinel reported that the US embassy here followed the trial closely and frequently discussed whether Najib was involved in the killing.
The diplomats, like much of the public, also speculated that the trial was being deliberately delayed and feared what one cable called “prosecutorial misconduct” that was being politically manipulated.
The embassy officials had based their concerns on sources within the prosecution, government and the political opposition.
‘Razak’s wife in contact with Anwar’
The cables, stated the report, were replete with accounts of a long series of meetings with Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim, who repeatedly told the Americans that Najib was connected to corrupt practices in the acquisition of submarines as well as the purchase of Sukhoi Su-MCM-30 Flanker fighter jets from Russia.
Anwar, it added, also called attention to Najib’s connection to the Altantuya case.
In a Jan 24, 2007 cable marked “secret”, it was written that “perceived irregularities on the part of prosecutors and the court, and the alleged destruction of some evidence, suggested to many that the case was subject to strong political pressure intended to protect Najib”.
On Feb 1, 2008, Clark wrote that a deputy prosecutor had informed him “there was almost no chance of winning guilty verdicts in the ongoing trial of defendants Razak, a close adviser to Najib, and two police officers. She described the trial as interminably long.”
“Clark called the trial a ‘a prosecutorial embarrassment’ from its inception, leading many to speculate that the ineptitude was by design. On the eve of the trial, Malaysia’s Attorney-General Abdul Gani Patail dropped his lead prosecutors and replaced them with less experienced attorneys. Similarly, a lead counsel for one of the defendants abruptly resigned before the trial ‘because of (political) attempts to interfere with a defence he had proposed, in particular to protect an unnamed third party.’”
The protracted nature of the case, Clark said, led “at least one regional newspaper to speculate that ‘the case is being deliberately delayed to drive it from public view. Malaysia’s daily newspapers rarely mention the case’s latest developments, and it is unprecedented in Malaysian judicial history that a murder trial could drag on for seven months and still not give the defence an opportunity to present its case. Such an environment has led many to conclude that the case was too politically sensitive to yield a verdict before the anticipated general election.”

In an interview with CNN, Senator Inhofe agreed that the photos taken in the compound in Pakistan immediately after bin Laden was killed were "pretty gruesome".

- When other nations sell goods to the US, it issues USD that is happily accepted by these nations as valid payment and they stash their paid USD in US assets like treasury bills.
- When people for reasons of safe haven deposit their valuables eg proceeds from corruption, drug dealing, Mafia dealings, Chinese Malaysians stashing money overseas for fear of unrest choose the US as safe haven, they have to convert their valuables and money into USD, giving the US in return ringgits or yuans or whatever in exchange for USD that the US can then spend to fund purchases from Malaysia using ringgits or purchases from China using yuans.
- It is said that $600 billion USD circulate outside the US because the USD is widely accepted even preferred in many places in the world and in underworld activities and this money is circulating in exchange for valuables given to the US treasury in return. Although the US’ responsibilities end should the USD in your possession be destroyed (eg fire or flood), it is still a loan and should these people want their money back (in foreign currencies) the US has the obligation to return the foreign currency from reserves of that currency it holds or if someone wants to convert from ringgit to USD the ringgit collected is used to repay someone who wants to exit USD.
Should the USD weaken as it is now, then should US goods be unchanged in price it would make US goods cheaper and more attractive on the world markets but would not make it easier for the US to repay its debts to the world but it would have to pay more in USD to get goods and services from the rest of the world.

There are considerable windfall wealth to be gained in being a world reserve or settlement currency and despite such considerable wealth accrued without sweat, the US has managed to rack up massive debts indicating its feckless nature and its wealth and pre-eminent position is ill-gotten not meritorious.
A lot if not all the trade between nations are settled in USD and so there is demand for USD to settle accounts even amongst nations not involving the US and so these nations must hold sizeable USD reserves to meet trade demands and these USD reserves held by many countries in the world is de facto a pool of considerable wealth lent to the US government. Even though there is a flux of money changing into and out of USD, at any moment there is a lot of money in transit denominated in USD and this represents a considerable permanent loan to the US government.

Individually the European nations do not have the weight to counter the US but together, with a common currency, it commands much greater clout and credibility as a viable alternative trade settlement currency that will take a slice of the free lunch that hitherto the US has quietly gobbled.
Thus with the euro, the European nations did not have to use the USD to settle trade amongst themselves and between the Eurozone and direct trading partners, further the euro is a viable reserve currency for others to use to settle trade amongst themselves rather than use the USD.

When people outside the US prefer to buy and sell with USD rather than the local currency, the value stored in the USD is a loan not a gift to the US treasury.
When China deposits a lot of money in US treasury bills, it is a loan not a gift.
Because it is a loan not a gift, you should protect the value of the loan in your safekeeping and if you fail to protect it so that the lender receives much less for his loan later, you are liable for shirking your responsibility.

To understand the nature of today’s UMNO and things it will do to get what it wants, one must realize that today’s UMNO had been purged by Dr M and now moulded even indelibly (cannot be reverted) in his image.
The sole purpose of dissolving UMNO in 1988 was so that UMNO could be reconstituted with Dr M in charge and reapplications for membership would be screened to exclude those unfriendly to him and did not share his creeds.
In the aftermath of the UMNO elections of 1988 in which Dr M narrowly beat his challenger Tengku Razaleigh, it was found that there were irregularities in the membership of some divisions and so the vote was compromised, there was a court challenge by Razaleigh’s supporters and the judge surprised those with common sense by declaring UMNO illegal as a result of the election rather than calling for fresh elections that would disadvantage Dr M. Subsequently Razaleigh’s faction was denied right to register a party under UMNO name but Dr M’s faction unsurprisingly got approval to register UMNO baru. I think in tandem with this crisis was a judiciary crisis in which the Supreme court judges were all dismissed, Tun Salleh Abbas was dismissed for allegedly committing an impropriety.
TODAY’S UMNO IS MOULDED IN THE IMAGE OF DR M, UMNO WAS PURGED BY DR M AND THIS EXPLAINS ITS NATURE AND ACTIONS TODAY. DR M ACCUSED THE TUNKU OF MANY THINGS IN OPEN LETTERS DESIGNED TO INFLAME AND TOPPLE THE TUNKU IN THE AFTERMATH OF THE 1969 ELECTIONS. HE ACCUSED THE TUNKU OF THE ABUSE OF POWER. Did Pak Lah try to nail Najib for murder?
In my analysis in the past I said that rather than Anwar as the culprit behind the prosecution involving the Altanturya case; Badawi, who was under pressure to step down, was the culprit responsible for prosecuting the Altanturya case instead of covering up in a potentially lethal ploy to politically kill Najib. Badawi as Homes Affairs minister should know about the Altanturya case and he chose to pursue it to take heat off himself and even to destroy Najib politically.
This release of diplomatic information by Wikileaks suggests my reasoning was correct.

Diplomatic cables released by WikiLeaks reveal that US embassy officials had discussed the possibility of a conspiracy against Najib.
(Free Malaysia Today) - His father had whispered something and the accused appeared agitated. When the court adjourned for recess, the accused banged and kicked the door, yelling: “You can die, Pak Lah! Die, Pak Lah! I am innocent. I am innocent.”
In a startling new twist to the Altantuya Shaariibuu murder case, WikiLeaks had revealed diplomatic cables hinting that former prime minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, known as Pak Lah, might had attempted to fix up his then deputy, Najib Tun Razak.
The case which haunts Najib to this day, had come close to derailing his ambition of becoming prime minister when one of his confidants, Abdul Razak Baginda, was charged with abetting the murder of the Mongolian national.
Razak was eventually acquitted while Najib had forced Abdullah to hand over the reins after Barisan Nasional’s (BN) dismal performance in the 2008 general election.
In the WikiLeaks disclosure to the Asian Sentinel, the conspiracy theory implicating Abdullah was found in a February 2008 cable from the US embassy’s political section chief Mark D Clark.
During the trial, Clark wrote, Razak “appeared uneasy throughout the morning session of court on Feb 20. Razak’s father, Abdullah Malim Baginda, had whispered something to him shortly before the trial had begun for the morning and apparently upset the accused.
“Razak remained quiet throughout the morning hearing, but just after the noon recess was called and as he was leaving the courtroom he kicked and banged the door and yelled ‘You can die, Pak Lah! Die, Pak Lah! I am innocent. I am innocent’. He was later seen crying before his lawyer while his mother attempted to comfort him.”
‘The Sun told to withdraw copies’
The embassy official also noted that local newspapers and the government news service Bernama had reported the outburt, but did not print his statements.
“The short-lived exception was the English language newspaper The Sun, which included the quotations from Razak in its early morning Feb 21 edition. Sources at the newspaper confirmed to us in confidence that the Ministry of Internal Security (Home Ministry) compelled The Sun to withdraw and recall thousands of copies of their first-run paper in which the original quote was included. Prime Minister Abdullah serves concurrently as Minister of Internal Security.”
Clark said that speculation was rife in Malaysia’s online community on what had sparked off the outburst, including conspiracy theories alleging that the Prime Minister’s Office had urged Razak to implicate Najib, and in return, the accused would be spared the guilty verdict and mandatory death sentence.
“Regardless, the Internal Security Ministry would want to limit any possibly inflammatory reference to the prime minister at the trial, and particularly at this juncture due to the proximity of Malaysia’s general election to be held on March 8.
“Any connection between the prime minister and the murder trial would be scandalous. The GOM (Government of Malaysia) reportedly has worked hard to ‘drive (the case) from public view’… and is not about to allow the case to influence the coming election,” read the cable.
Based on the cables provided by WikiLeaks, the Asian Sentinel reported that the US embassy here followed the trial closely and frequently discussed whether Najib was involved in the killing.
The diplomats, like much of the public, also speculated that the trial was being deliberately delayed and feared what one cable called “prosecutorial misconduct” that was being politically manipulated.
The embassy officials had based their concerns on sources within the prosecution, government and the political opposition.
‘Razak’s wife in contact with Anwar’
The cables, stated the report, were replete with accounts of a long series of meetings with Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim, who repeatedly told the Americans that Najib was connected to corrupt practices in the acquisition of submarines as well as the purchase of Sukhoi Su-MCM-30 Flanker fighter jets from Russia.
Anwar, it added, also called attention to Najib’s connection to the Altantuya case.
In a Jan 24, 2007 cable marked “secret”, it was written that “perceived irregularities on the part of prosecutors and the court, and the alleged destruction of some evidence, suggested to many that the case was subject to strong political pressure intended to protect Najib”.
On Feb 1, 2008, Clark wrote that a deputy prosecutor had informed him “there was almost no chance of winning guilty verdicts in the ongoing trial of defendants Razak, a close adviser to Najib, and two police officers. She described the trial as interminably long.”
“Clark called the trial a ‘a prosecutorial embarrassment’ from its inception, leading many to speculate that the ineptitude was by design. On the eve of the trial, Malaysia’s Attorney-General Abdul Gani Patail dropped his lead prosecutors and replaced them with less experienced attorneys. The protracted nature of the case, Clark said, led “at least one regional newspaper to speculate that ‘the case is being deliberately delayed to drive it from public view. Malaysia’s daily newspapers rarely mention the case’s latest developments, and it is unprecedented in Malaysian judicial history that a murder trial could drag on for seven months and still not give the defence an opportunity to present its case. Such an environment has led many to conclude that the case was too politically sensitive to yield a verdict before the anticipated general election.”
