Umno gave notice that it will go all out for every vote in the coming

Two
possible false purposes of polls:
Polls to determine public opinions cost money and effort so what are the
possible motives?
Firstly it may be to justify to the public, if not the world then to
Singaporeans that the government action has popular support (and therefore you
should join in and support).
Secondly it may be to gauge public opinion for government actions so
that the government acts according to the wishes of the public and does not
alienate the public.
Both are never valid but false evil reasons for action and so there are
never true reasons for expending money and energy conducting such polls that
may ape western ‘democracies’.
