a person sees or hears correctly, he sees without his ill will, greed or
delusions aroused and thus he escapes suffering and debt.
Stress is because of self-resistance accompanying actions:
Just
as a car has a propulsive source (engine and transmission) and retarding source
(brakes and handbrakes) in the same way the human brain has a propulsive source
(the force of going against self) and a retarding source (the force of
self-preservation).
If
the engine is propelling the car and the brakes are off there is smooth
progression without stress.
If
the brakes are retarding the car without the engine propelling there is smooth
retardation.
It
is only when the handbrakes are active as the engine propels the car that there
is stress or clash or friction of opposing forces.
In
the same way there are two opposing forces in the mind, the force of going against
self that responsible for all the person’s actions and speech and the force of
self-preservation that acts to put an end to all going against self.
When
the force of going against self is driving action with inactive force of
self-preservation the action is smooth and there is no stress. It is only when
the force of self preservation is active as the force of going against self is
active that there is a clash and there is stress.

raised and this leads to stress.

consciousness attains to the sphere of consciousness. He becomes fully

person having completed that life span would go even to hell, the animal world

no-thingness. He becomes fully satisfied in it, strives after it and

The gods of the sphere of no-thingness have a life span of sixty thousand forward world cycles. An ordinary
person having completed that life span would go even to hell, the animal world
or be born with the ghosts. As for the disciples of the Blessed One, completing
that life span would extinguish in that same birth. Bhikkhus, this is
difference and the peculiarity in the course of action, birth and conscience of
the noble disciple and the ordinary person. Bhikkhus, these three persons are
evident in the world.
