It is not a matter of begrudging or not begrudging the fat bonuses but do these bankers merit the big bonuses?
If you know the truth of the worth of what these bankers have done, it is even criminal and they do not deserve such big bonuses.
Begrudge means unhappy or don’t like, what is there to be happy or unhappy about big bonuses and of what use is being happy or unhappy about those bonuses? The substance of the matter is whether these bankers merit these bonuses or they are criminal, should be jailed rather than awarded such fat bonuses.

Zahrain’s grouse:
Zahrain is a PKR MP who recently accused Guan Eng of being a dictator.
According to The Sun, what happened that miffed Zahrain, who is chairman of Island Golf Properties is that his recommendation that a $2 company be given the rights to manage Bkt Jambul Country Club that has turnover of millions without open tender was rejected by Guan Eng.
If this is true then he is guilty of slander and wanting to gain unrighteously.

This is the speech of someone who does not truly understand on two counts.

The recluse Gotama knowing the meat is prepared on account of him partakes it."

They may have slandered the general who bought meat from the market not killed fat cattle.

Apparently the UMNO controlled Malay papers carried provocative headlines and showed Saiful pointing at a bed where the sodomy allegedly took place. This photo may have been leaked to the press by the court photographer because the press was barred.
INACCURATE HEADLINES AND PHOTOS OF THE BED HAS THE EFFECT OF INFLUENCING THE PUBLIC TO BELIEVE UNFAIRLY THE ALLEGATIONS ARE TRUE SINCE SAIFUL IS POINTING TO THE BED WHERE IT WAS SUPPOSED TO HAVE TAKEN PLACE.
THUS THERE IS A CASE FOR THE DEFENCE TO ASK THE JUDGE TO REPRIMAND THE PRESS AND EVEN CITE IT FOR CONTEMPT.
INSTEAD THE JUDGE FALSELY SAID THE EVIDENCE WAS IN OPEN COURT AND REFUSED TO CITE THE PRESS FOR CONTEMPT.
THE REALISM OF SAIFUL POINTING AT A BED THAT MUST HAVE BEEN ILLEGALLY OBTAINED HAS THE PYSCHOLOGICAL EFFECT OF INFLUENCING THE PUBLIC TO ACCEPT SAIFUL’S ALLEGATION AS TRUE.

Dr M was responsible for abolishing the jury system:
The jury system is a more fair system of meting justice because these groups of people are selected at random from the population, screened for unawareness of the case and during the trial they are isolated from the press.
Dr M was the one who abolished the jury system so that the judge became both judge and jury and more prone to manipulation by the executive.

If Anwar was charged under a jury system:
Had Dr M not replaced the jury system with the judge as jury system, this sodomy charge may not have been contemplated let alone come this far because the prosecution would have to convince a group of jurors that Anwar is guilty as charged and this is much more difficult to achieve although you may attempt to rig the selection of jurors or intimidate or bribe them.
IN A JURY SYSTEM, NOT ONE MAN WILL DECIDE THE GUILT BUT THE MAJORITY OF THE PANEL WILL DECIDE AND THE JUDGE IS THERE AS A REFEREE, IT IS NOT HIM WHO DECIDES IF THE ACCUSED IS GUILTY.

Hammering nails into your coffin:
Exactly what Dr M’s motives were when he abolished the jury system may be known, if it was meant to bulldoze everything so that he became the judge behind the scenes of cases that matter to him, it is another important nail of future pain into his coffin.
Many do realize they have already hammered many nails into their coffins of pain and they are still defiantly hammering more not realizing that in order to exit their coffins later, they will have to pull out each nail painstakingly with their own teeth. Their teeth may become bruised and even broken after extracting one nail or they become good at it (adapt to it), but they have so many nails in their coffin that it will take much time and pain to extricate themselves.

Tried not guilty yet:
Anwar is only being tried for sodomy, he is not guilty yet and even if he is truly guilty, let alone found guilty of sodomy there is no need, it is meaningless to run pictures of his accuser pointing at a bed except to derogate, to paint Anwar negatively in the eyes of the public and therefore the motive in publishing the picture is malicious.
If the picture turns out to have been illegally obtained through the court photographer, then even more the publication should be censured.
Many, especially those who are corrupt will raise a hue and cry and sue if their reputations are publicly called to question even when it is true and yet they see nothing wrong, think it is fair game to drag Anwar’s name in the mud on the basis that he has been accused of sodomy even as the trial is running.

Often evil people driven by force or ill will are not even aware what their motives for saying or doing certain things are.
The conscious or unconscious motive of publishing pictures of Saiful pointing at a bed is to flesh out the allegation, that it has a basis, here is the bed where it all happened. Because it is presented to the public the tendency is to accept it or cause doubt and uncertainty in those who are unreceptive.

The purpose of a jury:
The purpose of a jury is that not one man but a group of men who have as little prior knowledge as possible, who are isolated from public opinion and indeed contact throughout the case is assigned the task of determining whether a man is guilty as charged.
A jury is selected from amongst the public and screened for lack of knowledge for the case and during the entirety of the trial they are locked up in a hotel and the newspapers they read are screened for news about the case.
Although a judge is trained in the legal system, he is a poor substitute for a jury and there is a serious danger of miscarriage of justice because judges can be incompetent, of poor conduct (judges can be alcoholics, sleep and even masturbate on the job apart from being vulnerable to coercion and bribery so it is dangerous to entrust one man however highly qualified to determine the guilt of the person charged.
It is rare indeed in this world to have a judge whose integrity is impeccable, who is un-swayed by public opinion and personal prejudices to come to an objective substance only correct judgment.
YOU MAY THINK A JUDGE IS MADE OF STERNER STUFF, HE IS NOT SO GULLIBLE AS TO BE SWAYED BY NEWSPAPER REPORTINGS BUT JUST BECAUSE HE IS A JUDGE DOES NOT MEAN HE IS NOT VULNERABLE TO PERSUASION BY WHAT HE READS AND SEES THAT MAY BE A DISTORTION OF REALITY.
THERE IS NO PURPOSE FOR PUBLISHING AN ILLEGALLY OBTAINED PHOTO OF SAIFUL POINTING AT A BED EXCEPT OUT OF MALICE AND THE FACT THAT THE JUDGE SAID HE SAW NOTHING WRONG IS AN INDICATION EITHER HE IS DELUDED OR HE IS PARTISAN, NOT FIT TO BE THE JUDGE IN THE CASE.

Giving the benefit of the doubt:
Because men by nature can be blindsided by insufficient evidence, he cannot see or know exactly what happened in a case, if there is a question that the person may be innocent he is given the benefit of the doubt and he is discharged sometimes not tantamount to acquittal.
Thus the benefit of the doubt should always be given to the accused and should there be a possibility that he did not do it that cannot be dismissed, he is discharged.
THUS IN THIS CASE, IF THERE IS ANY POSSIBILITY ANWAR MAY BE INNOCENT, HE SHOULD BE GIVEN THE BENEFIT OF THE INCONCLUSIVENESS (NOT DOUBT).
God sees and knows everything, He knows if Anwar did or did not sodomize Saiful and so the question of the benefit of the doubt does not arise.

Investment giant's role in eurozone debt crisis falls under spotlight
Goldman Sachs, the giant investment bank, is today at the centre of the row over the Greek government's finances, amid recriminations over complex financial deals that allowed the eurozone nation to skirt its debt limits.
With European finance ministers meeting in Brussels today and tomorrow to discuss ways to prevent a debt crisis threatening the eurozone as a whole, a spotlight has been shone on techniques used by Greece and other indebted countries to give the appearance of lower budget deficits and debt levels.
The euro membership rules place strict caps on the size of government deficits relative to a national economy, but Goldman Sachs and other banks helped Greece raise cash earlier in the decade in ways that did not appear in the official statistics. With the current recession causing even official budget deficits to balloon all across the continent, fears of further hidden liabilities have been contributing to the crisis of confidence in Greek debt and pulling down the value of the euro.
Goldman Sachs has been the most important of more than a dozen banks used by the Greek government to manage its national debt using derivatives.
The bank's traders created a number of financial deals that allowed the country to raise money to cut its budget deficit now, in return for repayments over time or at a later date.
In one deal, Goldman channelled $1bn of funding to the government in 2002, in a transaction called a cross-currency swap. There is no suggestion of any wrong-doing by Goldman Sachs. Such deals are an expensive way of raising money, but they have the advantage of not having to be accounted for as debt.
The eurozone rules dictate that governments must keep a country's deficit below 3 per cent of its Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and must take on total debt of no more than 60 per cent of GDP – rules that Greece did not keep to, even during the economic boom. Goldman Sachs, the world's most powerful investment bank, is already under intense scrutiny in the ongoing controversy over banking practices, pay and profits. President Barack Obama last month launched an assault on Wall Street, proposing to cap the size of the biggest US banks and clamp down on their trading activities. On the same day, Goldman began distributing nearly £10bn in pay and bonuses to its staff for their 2009 performance, just a year after the financial system was bailed out by governments.
Reflecting the importance of the Greek government as a client, and the scale of the fees to be generated from derivatives deals, Goldman sent Gary Cohn, who as chief operating officer is second-in-command of the global group, to Athens last November to pitch for new business with the debt management office.
According to a report yesterday, Goldman suggested a way that Greece could push healthcare liabilities further out into the future. The bank has refused to comment. Other eurozone countries have been discovered using cross-currency swaps similar to one causing concern in Greece, including Italy, which did a controversial transaction with JP Morgan before it joined the euro.
The size and scale of the use of derivatives is not fully understood, even by Eurostat, the European Union's official statistics body, which has complained that member nations' finances are opaque and that the information it is given about derivatives deals is incomplete.
Gustavo Piga, an economics professor at the University of Rome, whose 2001 paper on the topic sparked furious debate within the EU, questioned the wisdom of using Wall Street banks to invent ways to skirt debt rules. "What kind of relationships start to arise between these governments and these banks once they are in this mortal embrace of reciprocal blackmail potential? How does this change the dynamics on other issues, such as the regulation of banks?
"We have no idea – maybe nothing, but certainly there is a conflict of interest here," he told Risk magazine this week.
EU leaders promised last Thursday to make sure that Greece could meet its debt repayments, but sketched no mechanism for doing so, and pledged no specific sums of money. They reiterated their demands for Greece to redouble efforts to impose the swingeing public spending cuts that have prompted widespread labour unrest.
Finance ministers are continuing to work on contingency plans for a bailout this week, amid signs of disagreement over the scale of austerity measures to be demanded of Greece.
The European Central Bank is seeking tougher measures than the politicians are willing to demand.
The experience, stirring and use of mental force:
The Buddha spoke of the purity of a being’s mind and it is the absence of force like the freeing of the moon from obscuring clouds that determine the purity of that mind. It is the presence of force in a person’s mind that renders it impure and that is always suffering even to intense and eternal durations.
There are three separate modalities or actions of mental force in a being’s mind and they are the experience of force acting on the mind, the stirring of mental force at things perceived and the use of force to think, speak and act.
All beings’ mental states can be classified into five states of increasing exaltedness from the ordinary to first mental state (serenity of mind and body with thought conception), second (absence of thought), third (equanimity or neither liking nor disliking) and finally the fourth (neither pain nor pleasure) and highest mental state.
The use of mental force:
In the ordinary mental state that characterizes all beings trapped here, the mind is not only using force to fabricate thoughts, speech and actions, they are constantly using force to prolong, change speed and strength that is perceived as stylish & meaningful when it is not only totally meaningless but creates insoluble stress, restlessness and inability to concentrate in themselves and others and this is the path to even eternal punishment.
The first higher state of the mind that the Buddha described as serenity of mind and body with discursive thought present is merely the abolition of the senseless for show use of force to prolong (eg syllables), change speed and strength (eg loudness) that releases the person’s mind and body from stress, restlessness and distraction and therefore he attains the serenity of mind and body that the body with discursive thinking that the Buddha described as the first higher state of the mind.
WITHOUT STOPPING THE SENSELESS CONSTANT USE OF FORCE TO STRETCH, CHANGE SPEED AND STRENGTH YOU CANNOT EXPERIENCE THE EFFORTLESS SERENITY OF MIND AND BODY THAT THE BUDDHA DESCRIBED AS THE FIRST HIGHER STATE OF MIND.
WITH THE STOPPING THE SENSELESS CONSTANT USE OF FORCE TO STRETCH, CHANGE SPEED AND STRENGTH YOU AUTOMATICALLY EXPERIENCE THE EFFORTLESS SERENITY OF MIND AND BODY THAT THE BUDDHA DESCRIBED AS THE FIRST HIGHER STATE OF MIND.
THEREFORE IS THE CESSATION OF THE TOTALLY USELESS, FOR SHOW USE OF FORCE TO FASHION STYLE OR PROLONGING (OF SYLLABLES), CHANGING SPEED AND STRENGTH (LOUDNESS) THAT IS THE KEY OR SINE QUA NON OF THE FIRST HIGHER STATE OF MIND THAT IS HAPPINESS HERE AND RESULTS IN ONE AGE OR ETERNITY IN HEAVEN AS AN ANGEL.
Even without fabricating style, if a person thinks, speaks and does things he must use and expose his mind to harmful force. People here can stop speaking and doing things at least sometimes and for brief periods, it is thinking that they cannot stop, when they are conscious, they are constantly thinking about this and that sometimes silly sometimes purposeful.
Thus the ability to stop thinking when fully conscious and therefore totally stop using force is the next higher step and signifies the next higher state of mind the Buddha described as the absence of thinking.
WHEN YOU THINK, YOU MUST USE FORCE, WITHOUT USING FORCE YOU CANNOT THINK AND SO THE PERSON WHO CAN STOP THINKING AT WILL FULLY CONSCIOUS HAS ACHIEVED A HIGHER STATE OF MIND, THE SECOND HIGHER STATE OF MIND DEVOID OF ALL THINKING. HE JUST SEES AND DOES OR DOES NOT DO AND THIS STATE ACCORDS THAT BEING TWO ETERNITIES IN HEAVEN.
The stirring of mental force:
Just because the person is not using his mental force to fashion thinking, speaking and doing with or without style does not mean his mental force cannot be also stirring to be attracted to (like) or be repulsed (dislike, hate or anger) by what he sees, hears, smells, tastes and touches.
THUS THE NEXT HIGHER STATE IS CHARACTERIZED BY EQUANIMITY, THE BEING’S MIND IS NEITHER STIRRED ATTRACTIVELY OR REPULSIVELY BY WHATEVER HE PERCEIVES. HE JUST SEES, HE IS NEITHER ATTRACTED NOR REPULSED BY WHATEVER HE SEES AND THIS HIGHER STATE OF THE MIND ACCORDS THAT BEING FOUR ETERNITIES IN HEAVEN.
NOT ONLY DOES THE BEING STOP USING FORCE TO FABRICATE THOUGHTS, SPEECH AND ACTIONS, THE MENTAL FORCE OF THE PERSON WHO HAS ATTAINED THE THIRD HIGHER STATE OF MIND IS NEITHER STIRRED ATTRACTIVELY OR REPULSIVELY BY WHATEVER IS GOING ON.
The experience of force:
Pain and pleasures are products of force (and nothing else), it is mild and moderate force transmitted through sight, sound, touch, smell and taste that give rise to pleasure and in perverse situations in masochists, even intense force received is experienced as pleasure. It is the experience of strong to intense force that gives rise to pain, without experiencing strong force there can be no pain.
Thus whoever experiences pleasure is experiencing force, is exposing his mind to force.
Whoever seeks pleasure is seeking force, is exposing his mind to force.
Whoever enjoys pleasure is not enjoying something true and meaningful, is enjoying force that is not only blind, meaningless and does not last but is always harmful, force harms and degrades the mind that enjoys pleasure or force.
WITHOUT EXPERIENCING FORCE IMPACTING ON YOUR MIND, YOU CANNOT EXPERIENCE PAIN OR PLEASURE, IT IS FORCE AND NOTHING ELSE THAT IS THE INDISPENSABLE INGREDIENT OF PAIN AND PLEASURE.
WHOEVER DOES NOT ENJOY AND THEREFORE SEEK PLEASURE DOES NOT EXPERIENCE PAIN AND PLEASURE AND HAS TUNED HIS MIND TO DISREGARD OR IGNORE PAIN AND PLEASURE AND THIS IS THE FOURTH HIGHEST STATE OF MIND THAT IS THE HIGHEST BLISS AND GIVES THE BEING EVEN 500 EONS OR AGES IN HEAVENLY DEATH FREE, WOE FREE EXISTENCE.
Further, as taught by the Buddha, the being who has attained the fourth highest state of mind can obtain 20,000 eons in heaven if he can overcome all considerations of form to access the sphere of the infinitude of space, he will obtain an lifespan of 40,000 eons if he overcomes all consideration of space to access the sphere of the infinitude of consciousness and he obtains the maximum lifespan of 60,000 eons if he overcomes all considerations of consciousness to access the sphere of nothingness.
