Commodity price rise tells us we live in a finite world

OIL is back above US$90 a barrel. Copper and cotton have hit record highs. Wheat and corn prices are way up. Overall, world commodity prices have risen by a quarter in the past six months. So what's the meaning of this surge? Is it speculation run amok? Is it the result of excessive money creation, a harbinger of runaway inflation just around the corner? No and no.What the commodity markets are telling us is that we're living in a finite world, in which the rapid growth of emerging economies is placing pressure on limited supplies of raw materials, pushing up their prices. And America is, for the most part, just a bystander in this story.
There is only one reason for prices to rise:
There is only one true reason for the price of any commodity eg oil or gold to rise and it is if costs are rising. If costs remain stable there is no reason for it to rise except because of greed, more and more people sucked in to bid higher and higher driven by greed and fear.
There is no reason why the cost of oil extraction has gone up so much and so the rapid rises is due to speculative pressure.
ALL THESE MONEY THE FED IS PRINTING IS DIVERTED BY BANKERS INTO THE COMMODITIES WHERE THE PROFITS ARE AT THE MOMENT AND THESE PEOPLE HAVE NO INTEREST OR NEED FOR OIL OR GOLD BUT THEY ARE ONLY THERE FOR GAINS.
AS LONG AS COSTS REMAIN THE SAME, ANY PRICE RISES ARE UNWARRANTED, ENDS UP AS PROFITS FOR HOLDERS OF THE OIL AND GOLD AND OIL PRODUCERS (WHO ARE ‘LAUGHING TO THE BANK’, THANKS TO THESE SPECULATORS). There is a many level food chain of profiting from extraction of oil to consumers. Oil producers, big oil companies, even many layers of speculators, derivatives makers, dealers intercede in this food chain before it reaches the consumer.
And so long as costs of production remains about the same, as it reasonably should be, then such rapid price rises of oil are due to profiteering by various players who are part of the food chain before it reaches the consumers.
THE MORE THERE ARE IN THE FOOD CHAIN BUYING AND SELLING OIL, THE HIGHER THE FINAL COSTS AND THUS PRICE TO BE PAID BY CONSUMERS. THE ACTUAL TRUE COSTS OF PRODUCING OIL IS SMALL AND STABLE COMPARED TO THE MARGINS OF PROFITS EXTRACTED BY PLAYERS IN THIS FOOD CHAIN.
Why then is gold rising astronomically?
Gold is not an exhaustible consumable resource like oil or wheat nor is it a critical metal or raw material of industrial or commercial use like iron, coal or zinc, so if as Krugman contends, this world is finite and is reaching the limits of its resources to meet a burgeoning population’s demands, why is gold that is not exhaustible and critical in usage soaring to such great heights?
The allure and value of gold lies not in its uses but its prestige and supposed immutability, there is plenty to meet any meaningful demands and the reason it is rising is because of speculation and hoarding, people are dumping money and buying gold to safeguard their wealth.
THE FACT THAT THE PRICE OF GOLD WHICH IS NOT EXHAUSTIBLE NOR ESSENTIAL FOR COMMERCIAL USAGE IS RISING ASTRONOMICALLY INDICATES IT IS SPECULATION AND HOARDING THAT IS THE CAUSE, NOT BECAUSE THIS IS A FINITE WORLD AND HAS REACHED THE LIMIT OF SUPPLY OF GOLD.
True but not true:
It is true, as Krugman observed (no understanding is needed) that this is a finite world and emerging economies are growing rapidly (these are observations or perceptions that do not require any true understanding, anyone with eyes can see) but it is not true that demand is the cause of price rises but it is the greed of speculators, people who have lots of money (borrowed or their own) who sense opportunities for easy money without doing any work who have infested and even taken over the market (a cartel of secretive members may be controlling the oil market) who are responsible for such price rises.
Speculators never target resources that are plentiful eg water, tin ore or salt but they only target commodities that people desire and there is a tight supply so that they can hoard and push prices higher and reap unrighteous profits at the expense of consumers held to ransom.
It is a programming not understanding:
That this is a finite world and emerging economies are growing rapidly are observations and programming that have nothing to do with true understanding, does not require true understanding.
That these two are the cause or source for soaring commodity prices is a false understanding that is rehashed because it is impossible for Krugman to hold the same false view over time without remembering this false understanding, be emotionally attached to it and rehashing it regularly.
FOR ANY FALSE UNDERSTANDING TO BE REPRODUCED MANY TIMES IN THE FUTURE IT MUST BE MEMORIZED AND REHASHED AND SO IT IS REHASHED NOT FRESH SPECIFIC TO AN OCCASION UNDERSTANDING AND THE PERSON IS A ROBOT WITH FAKED UNDERSTANDING.

Many people are making a living doing nothing, making their and borrowed money do work by speculating (eg stock day trading), flipping properties, looking for speculations everywhere with the current fad being commodities, gambling in casinos and elsewhere.
A lot of the industries are for consumption, to cater for consumption eg cars, houses, alcohol, food, sports, gambling, recreation (tourism), hotels, entertainment (shows, singing, dancing, movies).

In Malaysia there are certain items like sugar that are controlled, its price is fixed (there is profit even at this fixed price) and you even need to have a licence to deal with the product.
This is a good idea because it weeds out speculators, people who have no business buying and selling the commodity.
PRICE CONTROLS THAT ARE REVIEWED IF COSTS RISES AND LICENCES PERMITTING THOSE IN THE BUSINESS TO BUY A COMMODITY IS A GOOD IDEA FOR THE BENEFIT OF SOCIETY BECAUSE THE NATURE OF MANKIND IS GREEDY AND IRRESPONSIBLE AND THIS SHOULD BE IMPLEMENTED IN THE WORLD BUT IT DOES NOT UNDERSTAND AND IT IS SPECULATORS WHO CONTROL GOVERNMENTS TO REFRAIN FROM CONTROLLING MARKETS.

Why Wee is a hypocrite:
If it is true Karpal is a flip flop, this is a flaw of character so why should Wee be so concerned about Karpal as to speak out about his flaw of character?
If you agree that Wee is not concerned about Karpal’s wellbeing then the purpose in publicly raising the issue is to discredit Karpal, to attack and that has karma and he is a hypocrite speaking as if he is concerned for the good of Karpal.

Home price plunge is widespread
By Les Christie, staff writerDecember 28, 2010: 11:24 AM ETNEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Home prices took a shockingly steep plunge on a monthly basis, an indication that the housing market could be on the verge of -- if it's not already in -- a double-dip slump.
Prices in 20 key cities fell 1.3% in October from a month earlier, an annualized decline of 15%, according to the S&P/Case-Shiller index released Tuesday. Prices were down 0.8% from 12 months earlier.
Month-over-month prices dropped in all 20 metro areas covered by the index. Six markets reached their lowest levels since the housing bust first began in 2006 and 2007. They were Atlanta, Charlotte, N.C., Miami, Portland, Ore., Seattle and Tampa, Fla.
"The double-dip is almost here," said David Blitzer, chairman of the Index Committee at Standard & Poor's. "There is no good news in October's report. Home prices across the country continue to fall."
The report was far more dire than anticipated by industry experts, who had forecast an almost flat market in October. It followed weak September numbers.
"It was a bit of a surprise," said real estate analyst Pat Newport of IHS Global Research. "I wasn't expecting it to lag so badly in all 20 cities."
He, along with many other experts, has been forecasting further price erosion over the next few months of 5% to 7%, but didn't expect the price drop to hit so fast and so hard. It's mostly attributable to the end of the tax credit for homebuyers, the effects of which started to vanish beginning in June.
"The trends we have seen over the past few months have not changed," said Blitzer. "The tax incentives are over and the national economy remained lackluster in October, the month covered by these data."
Sales volume continues to lag, off 25% even from last October, when markets could hardly be described as robust.
The inventory of homes on the market is up about 50% compared with last year at this time, and there are millions of potential homes for sale waiting on the sideline for markets to improve.
Much of that "shadow inventory" is held as repossessed properties by banks, who will eventually have to release them back on the market.
Prices in Atlanta, down 2.9%, and Detroit, off 2.5%, took a particular beating in October. Las Vegas and Washington came out of the month only slightly bruised, down just 0.2%.
The report ran counter to what have been generally positive signs of economic recovery, according to Richard DeKaser, an independent housing market analyst and founder of Woodley Park Research.
"The market is not showing much improvement after the summer slump," he said. "Housing is acting as a drag on recovery."
The coming of the second of the double dip is icing on the cake for homebuyers, who already have benefited from prices not seen in years in most markets.
"Prices have already adjusted, and are probably undervalued in most cities," said Newport. "This will make them even more undervalued.
