A Two Way Loudspeaker

A Two Way Loudspeaker:
Just as serious Hi Fi speaker systems have specialized tweeters, midrange and bass drivers in order to have an even extended frequency response that is not possible with a single cone unit and even those that have a single unit are actually made up of multiple coaxial units with a dome or horn tweeter at the center of a cone midrange-bass driver (perhaps even sharing the same voice coil), even so in order to cover the sound spectrum that is required to produce all the syllables, the human voice is not generated solely by the vocal cords but the higher frequencies are actually produced in the mouth, specifically the teeth or lips acting as a horn (also known as wind) instrument or tweeter and the really low notes (o or u) may be generated by the diaphragm vibrating or acting as the transducer and all sharing the same voice coil or drive namely exhaled airflow with variable force and speed.
Just as you need large bass drivers to generate any meaningful bass frequencies in loudspeaker systems, the lowest syllables humans generate, namely ‘o’ and ‘u’ may be augmented by vibrations of the diaphragm itself acting as a resonator because only it has the size and power to generate low frequencies in meaningful loudness with the entire upper airway acts as a transmission line or bass reflex to amplify these bass notes.
The vocal cords may be only a midrange transducer and is entirely responsible for the vowels a, e, i and perhaps only partly involved together with the diaphragm for ‘o’ and ‘u’.
Horn instruments like trumpet, bugle and trombone are also called wind instruments because they utilize the severe forceful compression of air flowing through a small aperture (wind) to form different sound notes rather than the vibrations of a membranous reed. Depending on how the lips and tongue are clasped around the mouthpiece to produce apertures of varying size and the speed of airflow, different notes are produced.
The teeth is the only transducer involved (vocal cords inactive) in producing the shrillest syllable ‘s’ by forcing air at high speed and compression through the tight gaps between the upper and lower teeth. If you listen to yourself producing ‘s’ you may discern that it is coming entirely from the teeth.
Just as mixing blue and red in a palate gives purple, red and yellow gives orange, in the same way, the syllable ‘c’ may be merely a compound of a ‘s’ formed by the teeth and an ‘e’ formed by the vocal cords. ‘P’ is formed by rapidly opening the lips whilst the vocal cords form an ‘e’. ‘F’ is the reverse of ‘P’ in that the lips are rapidly brought to a close to cut off oral airflow whilst emitting an ‘a’ form the vocal cord. ‘D’ is formed by rapidly sliding the jaw forward to pull back the tongue whilst the vocal cord emits an ‘e’. ‘R’ requires the roof of the mouth to be raised with the tip of the tongue pressed against it and possibly vibrations of the soft palate mixed with a soft ‘A’ from the vocal cords.
Whistling is entirely an oral process of forming a horn tweeter using the lips and the tongue to form an aperture that can be varied in size to produce different notes. The vocal cords are not involved in whistling with unimpeded airflow from the lungs and the puffed cheeks providing the variable power and speed.
THEREFORE THE HUMAN VOICE APPEARS TO BE COMPOSED OF AT LEAST A HORN TWEETER IN THE FORM OF THE LIPS AND TEETH AND A REED MIDRANGE TRANSDUCER IN THE FORM OF THE VOCAL CORDS AND POSSIBLY A BASS UNIT WITH THE DIAPHRAGM ACTING AS THE ONLY TRANSDUCER THAT IS LARGE AND POWERFUL ENOUGH TO MOVE AIR THROUGH THE TRANSMISSION LINE FORMED BY THE AIRWAYS.
REGARDLESS OF THE COMPLEXITY AND THE EXACT MECHANISMS INVOLVED, CHANGES IN LOUDNESS IS DEPENDENT ON CHANGES IN THE FORCE DRIVING AIRFLOW AND CHANGES IN PITCH WITHIN SYLLABLES IS ALWAYS DUE TO CHANGES IN THE SPEED OF AIRFLOW WHILST CHANGES IN SPEED BETWEEN SYLLABLES AND WORDS ARE DUE TO CHANGES IN THE SPEED WITH WHICH THE CONFIGURATION OF THE NOSE AND MOUTH ARE CHANGED.
Weak & Powerful Syllables:
Because the nose cannot be totally closed off so that the force of airflow is channeled without loss through the mouth, syllables that are generated by the mouth are not as powerful or loud as syllables generated by the vocal cords where no loss of flow is possible as it is enclosed.
This may be the main reason why when listening to someone speaking from afar some syllables are invariably more audible than others.
Syllables that are produced purely in the mouth eg ‘s’, ‘c’, ‘p’ and ‘r’ are relatively weak, cannot be projected very loud or far. Vowels that are produced by the vocal cords can be very powerful; can be produced at very loud levels.
If you hear speakers addressing a crowd from a distance eg the headmaster addressing a silent assembly without a microphone, you may notice that you find it hard to make out what he is trying to say whereas if he was addressing you nearby there is no problem.
Try making as loud an ‘s’ as you can and as loud an ‘e’ as you can and you may notice that you can make a much louder ‘e’ than ‘s’.
An Expiration Process:
Speech is always conducted in expiration never inspiration. Just like a swimmer must surface regularly to take in a gulp of air, the speaker must regularly re-inflate his lungs by breathing in.
Speech cannot be conducted in inspiration because speech is a forceful process that needs air to be forcefully pushed through the windpipe whereas inspiration is a drawing in or suction process caused by the diaphragm contracting to draw in air.
Harnessed Airflow:
If you pushed the air with your palm the force is not transmitted but dissipated but if you pushed with the same force on a flexible bag of air connected to a tube then the force of your push will be completely transmitted in the force and speed of airflow through the tube that can be harnessed to produce sound.
Wind or horn instruments like the trumpet work by forcing high speed and high pressure air through an aperture to cause a sound that can be varied by varying the aperture which is form by the musician’s mouth.
Reed instruments operate by placing a membrane that can vibrate in the audible frequency in the path of airflow in a tube.
String instruments depend on the vibrations of plucked tethered strings to produce sounds whilst percussion instruments depend on the impact of two surfaces eg drum stick and drum to produce vibrations in the audible range. A snare drum also has snares that vibrate like strings agitated by the vibrations of the membrane of the drum.
Stretched Postures:
NOT ONLY ARE ALL MOTIONS OF JUKEBOX ACTORS STRETCHED (OFTEN UNCONSCIOUSLY), ALL (STATIONARY) POSTURES OF JUKEBOX ACTORS ARE PERCEIVABLY STRETCHED OR HAS STYLE FOR THOSE WITH EYES TO SEE.
THE (FALSE) STYLE IN ANY POSTURE EG STANDING, SITTING OR LYING IS NOTHING MORE THAN THE VOLUNTARY OR INVOLUNTARY (FORCEFUL) STRETCHING OR TWISTING OR CONTORTION OF THE MOST EASEFUL OR COMFORTABLE GRAVITY NEUTRAL POSTURE IN ORDER TO STAND, SIT OR LIE DOWN.
Though not very pronounced, in order to produce the chest posture of the person on the left, you must (impressively) broaden your shoulders by stretching or pushing your chest forward whilst twisting (rotary stretching) your chest around its vertical axis so that the left shoulder is more forward than the right shoulder and this is a stretched posture or assuming a more stressful stretched posture to be stylish or to intimidate others or impose oneself. If one were to be effortlessly without style, the chest will be flush with the body, not propped forward or forcefully twisted on its axis to present the left shoulder stylishly forward.
His legs are actually splayed out or held wide apart than is in truth comfortable to be provocative and this is a stretched posture of the legs to be stylish. Try for yourself whether it is more comfortable to keep your feet together or splay or stretch them out provocatively.
(The other person too is leaning stylishly to his right and slightly forward so that he needs to rebalance by twisting or stretching his head the other way. He shifts his body weight lopsidedly to his right leg instead of sharing the load equally on both sides. In short he is standing the hard, energy consuming way to be stylish)
A volumetrically stretched chest: Many do not realize they puff up their chests unnecessary (with more stress) when they walk to make themselves more self important. When you puff up your chest you are stretching its dimensions in all direction. Similarly women puff up or stretch their chests forwards to enhance their endowments.
It is considerably less stressful to mindfully plant each step on the ground with the minimal period of contact when walking. If you watch people including girls, they scrape the floor harshly walking and this is forcefully stretching their ground contact because there is excessive force and acceleration in their stride or to lash out.
EVEN WHEN THEY ARE MOTIONLESS, ACTORS ASSUME POSTURES THAT ARE STRETCHED OR TWISTED DRIVEN BY THE MENTAL FORCE THAT DOMINATES THEIR MINDS. IF YOU WATCH ACTORS AT REST EG WHEN THEY SLEEP, THEY CANNOT ASSUME A NEUTRAL POSITION BUT THEY MAY BE FORCEFULLY CURLED UP OR ARCHED, THEIR BODIES MAY BE TWISTED AROUND ITS AXIS, THEIR ARMS STRETCHED OUT, EVEN ROTATED.
ALL THE POSTURES THEY ASSUME AND THE MOTIONS OF PEOPLE WHO ARE ACTORS ARE ALSO ALWAYS STRETCHED OR TWISTED OR WARPED DRIVEN BY THE SAME MENTAL FORCE THAT IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE STRETCHING OF ALL THEIR SYLLABLES AND TOGETHER WITH THEIR UNWITTING STRETCHING OF THEIR PERCEPTIONS, THE PERSON WHO STRETCHES HIS SYLLABLES DOES NOT REALIZE HE LIVES COMPLETELY IN A STRETCHED OR WARPED WORLD. THEREFORE DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE THE EXISTENCE OF STRETCHED SYLLABLES IN YOUR SPEECH BECAUSE IT IS A SIGN OF A DISSEMINATED CANCER AFFECTING YOUR ENTIRE BEING THAT YOU ARE FOOLISHLY UNALARMED.
Why Everything Is Stretched:
Why is stretching always across board involving (unconsciously) every mental and oral syllable, every posture assumed, every unit of motion and perception? The actor is incapable of not stretching anything he does be it speech, motion, posture, thought and perception.
The reason is because stretching is blindly driven by mental force that is never switched off but is constantly on in all people who act.
Mental force is like a virus that has been introduced in the minds of foolish people who have embraced it as part of them and defend it and refuse to get rid of it even when it causes them torment.
Why is speech and motions that have perceivable acceleration in speed and loudness/forcefulness also stretched?
Unless a fundamental unit of motion is conducted at constant speed and loudness it is considered stretched even if the movement is not physically stretched because of physical constraints (you cannot physically stretch the distance to the cup of tea you want to reach but the excess force and acceleration in speed would have taken the motion past the cup had it not been forcible arrested because it has reached its target). Even though an unit of motion is not physically stretched the tendency of any unit of motion that is done with accelerating speed and force is to continue increasing speed and force or extend or stretch that unit of motion.
Because all units of motions of ordinary people, be it screwing a cap on, typing, banging a lid on, stamping an inkpad have perceivable acceleration in speed and force, they are all stretched.
The importance of ubiquitous or ever present stretching is that it is backed by excessive force and apart from applying force on the mind leading to stress, the mindless constant forceful stretching leads to a mental state of lingering, sentimentality and melancholy that is never pleasure but can drive a person up the wall.
DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE PRESENCE OF STRETCHED SYLLABLES IN YOUR SPEECH BECAUSE IT IS A SIGN OF ENDEMIC UBIQUITOUS STRETCHING OF EVERYTHING YOU SAY, THINK, DO OR PERCEIVE BECAUSE STRETCHING IS NEVER SELECTIVE AND THE FACT THAT YOU FAIL TO PERCEIVE IS BECAUSE YOU (FORCIBLY) IGNORE IT, YOU PAY ATTENTION TO OTHER THINGS AND YOUR PERCEPTION OF WHAT CONSTITUTES STRETCHING IS DEFICIENT.
ALL ORDINARY PEOPLE DO NOT REALIZE THEY EXIST IN A MENTALLY STRETCHED OR WARPED WORLD IN WHICH EVERYTHING THEY SAY, THINK, DO AND PERCEIVE AND EVERY POSTURE THEY ASSUME IS STRETCHED OR WARPED. TO EXIST IN A FORCEFULLY STRETCHED OR WARPED WORLD IS NEVER PLEASURE AS ACTORS STUBBORNLY, WICKEDLY FAKE IT TO BE BUT TORMENT LEADING TO EVEN GREATER AND EVERLASTING TORMENT AFTER DEATH. NOT ALL THE SENSATE PLEASURES AND INDUCEMENTS OF THIS WORLD IS WORTH THE TORMENT OF THIS PRISON OF MENTAL WARPING.
I CAN TELL YOU TO PAY ATTENTION TO NOT STRETCH YOUR SYLLABLES A MILLION TIMES BUT IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO DEVOTE ATTENTION TO SCANNING YOUR SPEECH FOR STRETCHED SYLLABLES, DO NOT WANT TO DEVOTE YOUR TIME TO PAINSTAKINGLY ELIMINATING THEM, YOU CANNOT SEE YOURSELF STRETCHING SYLLABLES WHEN YOU ARE DOING SO ALL THE TIME, YOU THINK YOU HAVE FAR BETTER THINGS TO PREOCCUPY YOURSELF AND IF IT IS TRUE THAT STRETCHING IS NEVER ISOLATED BUT IT IS GENERALIZED, IS THE SUREFIRE ROOT TO STRESS, RESTLESSNESS AND DISTRACTION THAT WILL FREQUENTLY RISE TO TORMENTING LEVELS, WILL LEAD TO PERMANENT LOSS OF CONTROL AND MADNESS AND LEADS EVEN TO PERDITION THAT MAY BE EVERLASTING AFTER DEATH, THEN NOBODY CAN DO ANYTHING MORE FOR YOU AND YOU DESERVE YOUR JUST DESSERTS, WHATEVER THEY MAY BE.
(If people watch themselves they may perceive that they put their bodies and appendages in twisted uncomfortable positions because of tension, they cannot think or say or do anything straight but whenever they want to do, say, think and even perceive something, the force in their mind or tension seizes them to do so in a roundabout or twisted way that they largely cannot help. They are not alarmed by what they see when it is a sign of danger and doom)
Unrighteous Speech:
Recently I spoke to a longtime recipient of what I write and noted how he was frequently shaking his leg restlessly and I demonstrated to him how he was constantly stretching his syllables, changing speed and loudness whilst speaking. He replied that to speak with constant speed and loudness is robotic.
When you are seized by restlessness that you cannot control to do or say things you have no control over, as is the bane of all those who practice constant changes in speed and loudness, then see who is robotic. Aren’t you being robotic when you are seized by restlessness that you cannot stop straight away?
YOU CANNOT DISMISS SOMETHING AS ROBOTIC WHEN YOU HAVE NOT TRIED OR EXPERIENCED IT. HAVE YOU TRIED CONSTANCY IN SPEED AND LOUDNESS FOR A REASONABLE PERIOD AND FOUND IT TO BE ROBOTIC? HE IS PRESUMING HE IS CAPABLE OF CONSTANCY.
CONSTANCY IN SPEED AND LOUDNESS IS THE INCOMPARABLE CALM CLEARLY THINKING RELEASE FROM STRESS, RESTLESSNESS AND DISTRACTION THAT IS THE PRIVILEGE OF THOSE WHO HAS ELIMINATED MENTAL FORCE AND EMOTION, NOT A RIGHT ON DEMAND OF THOSE WHOSE MINDS ARE DETAINED BY FORCE AND EMOTION.
EVERYWHERE I TURN MY EARS TO I HEAR PEOPLE SPEAKING WITH CONSTANT CHANGES IN SPEED AND LOUDNESS, EVEN THOSE WHO RUB SHOULDERS WITH ME, WHOM I HAVE DEMONSTRATED PRECISELY HOW THEY CHANGE THEIR SPEED AND LOUDNESS NEVERTHELESS CONTINUE TO SPEAK WITH CONSTANT CHANGES IN SPEED AND LOUDNESS. SO TO THINK THAT YOU CAN CHOOSE IF YOU WANT TO SPEAK WITH CONSTANCY IN SPEED AND LOUDNESS IS DELUSION.
You have no right to dismiss un-stretched passive forceless constancy in speed and loudness in speech as robotic or monotonous when you have not experienced it and are not capable of experiencing it even if you wanted. If you do, you are foolish and tempting fate or asking to be judged. Many have this abiding delusion that they can and are speaking without stretched syllables, they can and are speaking with constancy in speed and loudness when even in their most subdued, soft spoken sober moments they continue to stretch their syllables, continue to change speed and loudness musically, not frequently but ALL THE TIME without awareness, thereby stoking their eternal fires of restlessness (and headed for agony not ecstasy).
It is constant changes in speed and loudness that is robotic not constancy in speed and loudness and if you think it is the other way round you are silly and foolish and courting future full blown madness.
It is not rationally possible for a situation to change so much, for your emotions to change so much that you must change speed and loudness (often violently) every time without fail within each syllable, every time without fail between each syllable and word in the process consuming great cumulative energy to create great cumulative stress, restlessness and distraction. The only reasons to do so is because it is deemed stylish to constantly change speed and loudness, in imitation of everyone around and it is a mindless helpless forceful robotic process that the actor is often totally oblivious he is perpetrating that torments himself and his listeners.
Be careful what you wish for, if you spurn constancy as robotic when it is the only sane way out of agony that leads to violent suicide and advocate constant changes for yourself and others as being alive or genuine, you may live to regret even eternally for your folly.
Forced Constancy:
Actors are capable of silence but it is not passive but enforced or forced restless silence never passive silence.
Actors are capable of periodic constancy but it is enforced or forced restless or wavering constancy never passive effortless constancy.
Forced silence or forced constancy although still stressful (because it applies force on the mind), fabricated, inherently unstable and because it is backed by force, is harder to exit, is nevertheless superior to constant changes in speed and loudness and before you can attain passive effortless silence and constancy in speed and loudness, you must first go through a phase of forced constancy.
For instance the ordinary person can use force to make himself drive at a constant 100 kph on a highway for a period that is a struggle for him to maintain as he must fight the urge to change and the constancy is not absolute because his foot presses the pedal with some restless fluctuations and his hands may hold the steering wheel with minute restless oscillations. Because it is a forced constancy it is stressful because force must be exerted on his mind not to change and because it is forced or backed by force there is inertia that must be overcome should he decide to change and this may be a reason for highway pileups when a driver seized mindlessly by force to maintain a constant speed fails to respond in time to apply opposite force to stop his forced constant speed.
When the Buddha did not hear lightning strike a few people dead in front of his hut, it was not a forced refusal to hear or suppression of hearing but he attained such an imperturbable unity of his mind that even violent thunder could not intrude.
In contrast whenever people hear background noise or music that annoys them they force themselves to bear or they forcibly try not to hear it or ignore it and that is stressful fabrication or pretense that is flirting with future mad perceptions or hallucination when they hear but do not hear.
EVERYONE IN THIS WORLD IS WICKEDLY (THEY OFTEN THINK IS MERITORIOUSLY) TRYING TO PROVOKE OTHERS TO REACT EITHER DIRECTLY (EG SMILING OR SNEERING AT YOU) OR INDIRECTLY BY MAKING NOISES OR MOTIONS WITH CONSTANT ACCELERATED CHANGES IN SPEED AND LOUDNESS THAT INCITE STRESS, RESTLESSNESS OR DISTRACTION. SHOULD YOU IN ANYWAY REACT BY LASHING OUT, BY EXPERIENCING EXPRESSED OR UNEXPRESSED IRRITATION OR FORCE YOURSELF TO PAINFULLY BEAR OR FORCEFULLY IGNORE IT (TO FORCEFULLY DETACH YOURSELF FROM WHAT IS HAPPENING IS CULTIVATING PAINFUL DETACHMENT FROM REALITY), YOU HAVE BEEN DRAWN IN AND DEFEATED TO BE TRAPPED IN THIS WORLD OF SUFFERING. ONLY WHEN YOUR MIND IS WITHOUT FORCE IN CALM CLEARLY THINKING EQUANIMITY, NEITHER LIKING NOR DISLIKING THE DIRECT OR INDIRECT PROVOCATIONS ARE YOU SAFE, HAVE YOU JOYOUSLY RISEN ABOVE THE MORASS OF THIS WORLD.
Seeing They Do Not See:
Jesus referred negatively to people who see but they do not see, hear they do not hear.
If you are constantly stretching your syllables, constantly changing speed and loudness/forcefulness in speech and motion and it has been described to you and you still cannot see that there are constant changes in speed and forcefulness in you, especially when they are the source to all the stress, restlessness and distraction you experience, aren’t you in danger of falling into Jesus’ category of those who see but do not see? If you think that despite seeing but not seeing the stressful constant changes in speed and loudness in yourself and others you are nevertheless headed for safety you may be presumptuous.
64. Though all his life a fool associates with a wise man, he no more comprehends the Truth than a spoon tastes the flavor of the soup.
65. Though only for a moment a discerning person associates with a wise man, quickly he comprehends the Truth, just as the tongue tastes the flavor of the soup.
What the Buddha says is correct; most people are hard if not impossible to teach because like the spoon, they do not taste the soup. This is the reason why as the Buddha said you have been wandering for many eons and a being who has not been a father, mother and sibling to you is hard to find.
The importance is that if you cannot or refuse to see the truth, you suffer and are headed for suffering for another eternity. Few if any fools know they are headed for torment because if they do, they would devote their time and effort to rectify their selves.
A Gucci Pope:
According to Newsweek, the pope wears designer shoes (Prada) and ceremonial gowns (Gucci shades) that would not go down well with Jesus’ command that you should not care about what you shall put on.
Apparently there are established fashion houses vying to provide attire for popes and the pope may have been displeased recently because a cassock he wore was a bit short exposing his ankles. Just as there was a fad for miniskirts and then maxi skirts, if someone was to tell him that the current fashion was for popes to wear cassocks that gave a peek a boo view of his ankles, he might then feel pleased than displeased. It is silly to be upset by the length of cassocks and it is not harmless because it is mad logic to be preoccupied by such pettiness.
Can you be not anxious about your life, what you shall eat or what you shall drink, nor about your body, what you shall put on as Jesus advised and nevertheless have a taste for Prada shoes and Gucci shades and be upset when your cassocks are a bit too short? Instead you must be fussy and seeing the essential in the unessential, preoccupied with appearances than substance.
If what is reported is accurate it does not surprise me but it fits well into what I know of the pope’s views, what he has said and the way he appears and behaves on TV. If the church and its hierarchy has glorified Jesus, taken what is his and made it known to you, there would not be need for Jesus to promise you another counselor.
As the Buddha said, do not go by reports, legends, traditions or scripture (that so and so is untouchable). When you know for yourselves that, 'These qualities are unskillful; blameworthy; criticized by the wise; these qualities, when undertaken lead to harm & to suffering' -- then you should abandon them.
More Beings Than Grains Of Sand:
People are incredulous that all the animals they see around, even insects are valid beings just like them because they fail to grasp what the Buddha said that there is an infinitude of space and consciousness in this universe and so there may be an infinitude of beings in this world.
(Why should space be infinite? That the Buddha spoke of an infinitude of space which corresponds well with what science tells us is reflection that the Buddha knows something few men knew then and either it is a lucky guess or he truly sees)
Just as, according to scientists there are more stars in the firmament than grains of sand on all the beaches on earth, there may be far more beings just like you than you are able to comprehend.
Not only are all the minute creatures valid beings serving time for their sins, there are even microscopic evil beings referred in Buddhism as dust devils who are also valid beings. Therefore there may be an infinite numbers of beings trapped in painful self existence and the next time you return as a human may be another eternity.
BBC listens in to insect chatter

The alcon blue butterfly (Maculinea alcon) of central Europe has long been recognised as a great con artist (if you like to deceive others, like to say things in a misleading way, you can do so just as well as an animal).
Its caterpillar emits sounds and a chemical signal which essentially "instructs" worker ants to pick it up and carry it back to their nest, where it is fed, cleaned and cared for as if it were one of the queen ant's own brood.
The caterpillar can live for up to two years inside the nest before pupating into a chrysalis, from which a new butterfly emerges.
It has an enemy, however: a parasitic wasp (Ichneumon eumerus). Unlike the ants, the wasp seems to know an impostor is present and, in what appears like a kamikaze manoeuvre, will enter the nest to find the caterpillar.
Jeremy Thomas, from the Centre for Ecology and Hydrology (CEH) in Dorset, UK, has been studying large blue butterflies for over 30 years and recently discovered how this wasp avoids death by releasing a chemical signal, or pheromone, of its own.

This not only repels the ants but causes them to attack one another. In the midst of this confusion the wasp seeks out the caterpillar and injects an egg deep inside its body.
When the wasp leaves the nest everything returns to normal and the caterpillar is once again fed and cleaned by the ants. But, when it turns into a chrysalis, it is eaten from the inside by the injected wasp grub - and it is the wasp that emerges to fly from the nest, not another alcon blue butterfly.
Juñha Sutta:Moonlit
Ven. Sariputta and Ven. Maha Moggallana were staying in Pigeon Cave. Then, on a moonlit night, Ven. Sariputta -- his head newly shaven -- was sitting in the open air, having attained a certain level of concentration.
Two yakkhas who were companions were flying from north to south on some business. They saw Ven. Sariputta -- his head newly shaven -- sitting in the open air. The first yakkha said, "I'm inspired to give this contemplative a blow on the head."
The second yakkha said, "Enough of that. Don't lay a hand on the contemplative. He's outstanding, of great power and might."
A second time, the first yakkha said, "I'm inspired to give a blow on the head."
A second time, the second yakkha admonished.
A third time, the first yakkha said.
A third time, the second yakkha admonished."
Then the first yakkha gave Ven. Sariputta a blow on the head. And with that blow he might have knocked over an elephant seven or eight cubits tall, or split a rocky crag. But right there the yakkha -- yelling, "I'm burning!" -- fell into the Great Hell.
Now, Ven. Moggallana -- with his divine eye -- saw the yakkha give Ven. Sariputta a blow on the head. He went to Ven. Sariputta and said, "I hope you are well, friend Sariputta. I hope you are feeling no pain."
"I am well, friend Moggallana. But I do have a slight headache."
"How amazing, friend Sariputta. How great your power and might. Just now a yakkha gave you a blow on the head. So great was that blow. But all you say is this: 'I am well. But I do have a slight headache'."
"How amazing, friend Moggallana. How great your power and might. Where you saw a yakkha just now, I didn't even see a dust devil." (This indicates there are minute beings called dust devils)
The Blessed One -- with his divine ear -- heard those two great beings speak in praise of one another. He on that occasion exclaimed:
Whose mind is like rock, steady, unmoved,dispassionate for things that spark passion,un-angered by things that spark anger:When one's mind is developed like this,from where can there come suffering & stress?
Nibbana Sutta: Total Unbinding (3)
There is, monks, an unborn -- unbecome -- unmade -- unfabricated. If there were not that unborn -- unbecome -- unmade -- unfabricated, there would not be the case that emancipation from the born -- become -- made -- fabricated would be discerned. But precisely because there is an unborn -- unbecome -- unmade -- unfabricated, emancipation from the born -- become -- made -- fabricated is discerned.
(All beings in this world of the infinitude of consciousness come from this unborn, unbecome the Buddha referred to as SUCH that is beyond conjecture and to SUCH they must all return finally.)
Nibbana Sutta: Total Unbinding (4)
One who is dependent has wavering. One who is independent has no wavering. There being no wavering, there is calm. There being calm, there is no desire. There being no desire, there is no coming or going. There being no coming or going, there is no passing away or arising. There being no passing away or arising, there is neither a here nor a there nor a between-the-two. This, just this, is the end of stress.
There Is God In Buddhism:
Anyone who says there is no God in Buddhism is misrepresenting the Buddha with serious karma.
The Buddha has in many places stated that there is Brahma, the Great Brahma who is All-Seeing, All-Powerful, the Maker, Creator, Father of All That Have Been and Shall Be and the Buddha even stated that Great Brahma has two sons:
Subrahma and Paramatta Brahma,together with sons of the Powerful One,Sanankumara and Tissa (Jesus is Isa in Islam & Yishua in aramaic):They too have come to the forest meeting.Great Brahma, who stands over 1,000 Brahma worlds,who arose there spontaneously, effulgent:Prestigious is he, with a terrifying body.And ten brahma sovereigns, each the lord of his own realm -- and in their midst has comeHarita Brahma surrounded by his retinue."
A Rote False Statement:
Quote: In today’s health conscious society, eating fresh vegetables and fruits is emphasized.
Comment: Ask the speaker and most ordinary people about the validity of this statement and they will insist as a matter of course that it is quite true or justified.
I have seen articles that lament the disregard for diet and healthy eating amongst school children or adults and here is one taking the opposite tack, so who is right and does it matter?
Whether today’s society is any more health conscious than in the past cannot be determined (has he done a comparative study to determine by how many percent it has changed?), there are many today as in the past who don’t care what they eat, who relish fast or ‘junk’ food (and there are a vast number who have no food in their mouths). To believe what cannot be ascertained is true is presumptuous and courting future madness because what is forcefully believed repeatedly sticks to the mind that accepts it as fact when it is presumed.
It is essentially a stereotyped statement issued from the person’s mental jukebox or repertoire of impressive phrases that sounds nice to impress readers with disregard to accuracy. It is totally unnecessary and foolish to use such phrases and courting judgment because you influence others falsely.
Not only is the substance of what is said false but the style with which it will be said as if it is a pearl of wisdom will also be false.
If you keep collecting such dubious statements like ‘In today’s health conscious society, eating fresh vegetables and fruits is emphasized’ as mental nuggets your mind soon becomes cluttered with trash you treasure as truisms and you are headed for mad logic.

What is the use of Jesus speaking of an ethereal mental counselor that nobody can see or hear, at least not without stretching their imagination and risking hallucination? If the counselor was a mental being it is remarkable that nobody not even the deranged has come forward to say they hear a mental counselor that Jesus promised speaking to them in their minds. Surely any time is a convenient time for a counselor of the mind to come and why would Jesus repeatedly compare a counselor that is to come in the mind with himself who came physically?
What is the use of Jesus speaking about a physical counselor to come if he cannot be identified with certainty but must be forever shrouded in ambiguity? Therefore from the description Jesus gave must be sufficient information to identify the counselor short of specifically naming him otherwise Jesus would have botched his purpose.
Therefore Jesus is speaking of a physical counselor who is to come and the description he provided must be sufficient to identify him to the discerning but elude those who are shrouded in doubt and uncertainty.
Fools’ Paradise:
Everyone is happy. People who invest in funds are happy that shares are high because fund managers report to them how fabulously rich they are. Fund managers are only too happy to push up shares and maintain high values by using other people’s money because they stand to gain fat bonuses for their ‘effort’. Stockbrokers are happy that shares rise because it attracts interest and business for them. The Federal Reserve and politicians are happy because a robust stock market keeps the economy ticking and them in power. Company CEOs are happy because artificially inflated share prices enable them to claim rewards (share options and bonuses), enables companies to borrow more money than they otherwise can and that is money CEOs can lay their grubby hands on at the expense of shareholders they swear to protect.
If everyone is happy for shares to be high, is it any surprise that share prices are so high and immune to bad news?
In the past few people invested in the share or property market but driven by greed from stories of fabulous windfalls, everyone has piled in and because there is little selling pressure it is easy to maintain share prices at a ‘permanently elevated plateau’.
But if share and property prices are unrealistically high, no matter how well and long it has been propped up there will be side effects and a reckoning with reality some day. Based on high share and property prices you can tell yourself and others how rich you are but all this can be wiped out in an instance and if you have borrowed heavily on the presumption of your wealth you may then contemplate jumping off a building.
