How Doubt & Uncertainty Are Related:
DOUBT OR QUESTIONING IS AN IMMEDIATE & REFLEXIVE OR AUTOMATIC REACTION TO FALSITY AND SELF HARM THAT PRECEDES UNCERTAINTY WHICH IS A DELAYED RESIGNED RESPONSE TO DOUBT IN A MIND THAT PLAYS HOST TO FALSITY AND SELF HARM INSTEAD OF EXPELLING THEM. DOUBTING PRECEDES AND IS THE ONLY CAUSE OF UNCERTAINTY.
There is no reason to doubt what is true (eg bread is food) or does not harm oneself and it is only truth’s imposter, what is false (eg sand is food) or self hurting that if not rejected but is forced by self or others to be accepted, that must be subject to constant doubt or questioning in an exercise in futility because so long as falsity or self hurt remain doubt remains.
A mind that keeps generating doubt that cannot be resolved because it dwells in falsity and self-harm must then become forcefully or emotionally uncertain.
Thus doubt precedes uncertainty and is the only cause of uncertainty.
(Because there is no reason to doubt what is true or does not harm self, there is no doubt and uncertainty in minds free from falsity or self harm and conversely any mind that experiences doubt and uncertainty must be consorting with falsity and self harm)
In this cutthroat world of goats where everyone is coercing the other to falsely fake and go against himself constantly generating self doubt and uncertainty that can reach intense levels, people are faced with two equally unpalatable choices that will both end in agony. The weaker ones with some conscience are so wracked by self reinforcing doubt and uncertainty they descend into despair and even suicide whilst the more cutthroat ones galvanized themselves to suppress and control the increasingly intense doubt and uncertainty to present a false façade of forced certainty that is subject to control failure and bouts of doubt and uncertainty in moments that may be inopportune when their resolve weakens or they are tired. As the intensity of their doubt and uncertainty inexorably intensify with age, they too are headed for an appointment with mad intense doubt and uncertainty.
Doubt and uncertainty is what actors experience all the time, try to control and suppress in an harassed fashion all the time without realization and they only become aware of doubt and uncertainty when they have become too intense to ignore and they are the precursors of depression & self hate.
Doubting is the forceful or aggressive questioning of personal or other people’s trivial or important matters that is never let your yes be yes only but repetitive and difficult if not sometimes impossible to stop until the person’s obsession is displaced by something else happening often merely for the sake of being antagonistic and buttressed by false rationalizations to justify.
There is faked facetious doubt that is designed to persecute others, to raise doubts in others and this is a singular non-repeated expressed doubt. For instance they say (often with a disingenuous smile or grave faked seriousness)“I have serious doubts that you can do it” to question the person’s ability and undermine his belief when the proper thing to say is “I think you cannot do it” that implies in my estimation you cannot do it but I may be wrong. Even though it is facetious, the person is not tormented by doubt that he struggles to shake off, he is nevertheless conditioning himself to doubt even as he casts doubts on others to manipulate them.
True doubting is where the customer keep asking the vendor irrationally whether the fruit is sweet even after repeated assurances it is so, even as he departs with the fruit because he cannot trust what is said to him and have been cheated before. In so doing he is not letting his yes be yes only but persecuting himself and the other person with doubt that conditions both. The person who lets his yes be yes only accepts the vendor’s word and finds out the truth objectively when he eats the fruit.
First you force yourself to doubt but increasingly, because doubt is always forceful it conditions your mind so that you are now forced against your will to doubt, you cannot not doubt even if you want and you are a trapped man.
Uncertainty is the disturbed indecisive or unable to decide emotional state of mind that inevitably follows doubt.
THERE ARE FOUR CAUSES OF DOUBTING THAT THEN LEADS INEVITABLY TO UNCERTAINTY.
THE APPLICATION OF FORCE ON ANY MIND IS ALWAYS OPPOSED BECAUSE FORCE ALWAYS HARMS THE MIND AND BECAUSE FALSITY IS ALWAYS ACCOMPANIED BY FORCE ITS INTRODUCTION WILL ALWAYS BE OPPOSED WITHOUT NEED FOR REASONING. NO MATTER HOW SINCERE THE LOVER BELIEVES HIS FORCEFUL (FALSE) LOVE IS AND THE LOVED IS THOROUGHLY DECEIVED TO BELIEVE LIKEWISE, BOTH THE LOVER AND THE LOVED MUST EXPERIENCE SUBCONSCIOUS AUTOMATIC SUPPRESSED RESISTANCE TO THAT LOVE BECAUSE THE FORCE IN THE LOVE CAN BE EXPERIENCED AND AUTOMATICALLY RESISTED BY BOTH IN THEIR EMBRACE OF DECEIT.
IN ADDITION, WHATEVER THAT IS FALSE THAT IS INTRODUCED TO A MIND WHETHER BY SELF OR OTHER (EG THAT YOU DO NOT STEAL WHEN YOU DO) MUST BE USING REASON QUESTIONED OR DOUBTED BECAUSE THE PERSON IS NOT MAD YET AND HE KNOWS HE DOES STEAL. TO TOTALLY BELIEVE YOU DO NOT STEAL WHEN YOU KNOW YOU DO STEAL IS TO BECOME MAD.
THE THIRD AND MOST IMPORTANT CAUSE OF DOUBT IS THAT GENERATED BY THE INSOLUBLE STRESS, RESTLESSNESS AND DISTRACTION THAT REGULARLY BUILD UP AS A RESULT OF THE WAYS THEY SPEAK, BEHAVE, THINK AND PERCEIVE. ANYONE WHO IS REGULARLY BESET BY STRESS, RESTLESSNESS AND DISTRACTIBILITY THAT HE CANNOT PERMANENTLY ELIMINATE BUT CAN ONLY STRESSFULLY CONTROL AND SUPPRESS IN A HARRASSED FASHION MUST QUESTION OR DOUBT HIMSELF. ORDINARY PEOPLE CANNOT SEE EVEN AFTER I HAVE DEMONSTRATED TO THEM, LET ALONE THAT THEY CAN SEE IT BY THEMSELVES THAT THEY ARE CONSTANTLY APPLYING FORCE ON THEIR MINDS BY PERCEIVING, THINKING, SAYING AND DOING THINGS WITH ADDED FORCE THAT STRESSES THEIR MINDS, THEY CANNOT SEE THERE ARE CONSTANT UNNECESSARY CHANGES IN SPEED AND LOUDNESS/FORCE IN THEIR SPEECH, MOTION, THOUGHTS AND PERCEPTIONS THAT IS THE ONLY INFALLIBLE CAUSE OF THE RESTLESSNESS THEY MUST EXPERIENCE AND THE SIMULTANEOUS COMBO OF SUBSTANCE AND STYLE IN THEIR SPEECH AND BEHAVIOR THAT CANNOT BE RENDERED LIVE BUT MUST BE PRERECORDED AND RENDERED WITHOUT NEEDING CONSCIOUSNESS BY ROTE FROM MENTAL JUKEBOXES IS THE SOURCE OF THE DISTRACTIBILITY THEY MUST SUFFER FROM. EVEN IF THEY CANNOT SEE THAT THEIR BEHAVIOR IS FALSE, THE STRESS, RESTLESSNESS AND DISTRACTABILITY THAT REGULARLY HOUND THEM AS A RESULT OF THEIR FALSE BEHAVIOR MUST FORCE THEM TO DOUBT THEMSELVES AND THE MEANING OF LIFE.
THE FOURTH CAUSE OF DOUBT IS THE ADDITIONAL DELIBERATE MALICIOUS DOUBT AND UNCERTAINTY PRACTICED BY ACTORS CONSCIOUSLY OR UNCONSCIOUSLY TO MANIPULATE AND PERSECUTE OTHERS.
MOST ACTORS HAVE ALREADY BURNT THEIR BRIDGES WITH TRUTH, THEY HAVE FORSAKEN THEMSELVES TO FALSITY AND THE AUTOMATIC RESISTANCE TO THE APPLICATION OF FORCE AND FALSITY TO THEIR MINDS ARE TOKEN OR FEEBLE; THEY TOTALLY BELIEVE WHAT THEY FALSELY ACT, THEIR SMILES, THEIR STRETCHING OF SYLLABLES AND CONSTANT CHANGES IN SPEED AND LOUDNESS ARE GOOD FOR THEMSELVES AND OTHERS. WHAT REMAINS FOR THEM TO DOUBT THEMSELVES IS THE SUFFERING THAT RESULTS FROM THEIR FALSE BEHAVIOR. THERE MAY BE PATCHY AREAS WHERE THEY QUESTION THEIR FALSITY EG THEY DO NOT STEAL WHEN THEY KNOW THEY DO STEAL BUT BY AND LARGE THEY HAVE ACCEPTED THE ACTED WAYS IN WHICH THEY SPEAK, MOVE, THINK AND PERCEIVE AS TRUE, CANNOT SEE EVEN WHEN POINTED OUT THAT THEY ARE FALSE.
THE GREATER ROLE OF PRACTICED FALSITY OF ANY FORM IS THAT IT IS ALWAYS MAD OR HARMFUL EVEN TO THE EXTENT OF BEING FATAL THAT THE BEING NEVER PRACTICES PASSIVELY OR BY CHOICE BUT HE ONLY FORCES HIMSELF OR IS FORCED BY OTHERS AGAINST HIS AUTOMATIC SELF RESISTANCE TO PRACTICE IN A FASHION THAT MUST BE NECESSARILY CONTROLLED TO GET ALONG OR MANIPULATE OTHERS AND HE IS ALWAYS WALKING A TIGHROPE BETWEEN PRACTICING WITH AS MUCH FORCEFUL CONVICTION AS HE FOOLISHLY DARES TO DECEIVE OTHERS HE IS GENUINE WHEN HE IS FAKING IT AND FORCEFULLY HOLDING BACK FROM THE BRINK TO NOT TOTALLY GIVE IN TO THE FORCE BEHIND HIS GOING AGAINST SELF TO ACT TO BECOME UNCONTROLLABLE OR DE FACTO MAD.
Sarcasm is an important practice in which people persecute themselves and others with doubt and uncertainty. When you are sarcastic, you forcefully mean to yourself and others the opposite of what you say and this creates doubt in yourself and others as to the true meaning of what you say that then leads to emotional uncertainty. Often, ordinary people are unaware that they are being sarcastic in what they say or express. For instance when they laugh at the own misfortune (they say business is bad with laughter), they are being sarcastic or generating doubt and uncertainty).
Speaking Abstractly: Not calling a spade a spade; saying “American cars don’t cross the pond well” when he means American cars are not well received in Europe.
Joking and appreciating jokes, an addictive and frequent pastime too is another practice that similarly creates doubt and uncertainty. All jokes are false in a mischievous way that hurtfully pokes fun at the victim at the brunt of the joke; if a joke was the truth it would not be called a joke. No one truly appreciates or enjoys jokes or falsity but they force themselves to forcefully emotionally fabricate appreciation that is in truth masochistic to get along such that it is now so realistic, they largely cannot help themselves responding they believe they truly enjoy when jokes stir up stress, restlessness and distraction.
Worry or anxiety: Worry that afflicts people regularly, from minor to major matters is a form of doubt and uncertainty because it is a form of preoccupation, recurring doubting and being uncertain over matters that may be totally out of their hands and it is a waste of time to worry.
Paranoia Is Mad Doubt: The doubting of what you perceive (see, hear) is a crucial element in paranoia apart from mad perception. Because paranoid people repeatedly forcefully question what they see or hear, they are unable to shake off their doubts about what they see and hear and they therefore perceive falsely insults and chicanery by others where there are none.
Faith In Rites & Precepts:













If you truly believe in such ceremonies or rites, you have faith in rites that is according to the Buddha one of three lower fetters to states of future woe. If you go along to act as if you appreciate, you don’t quite believe, you are a hypocrite and will similarly go to woe.
All those participating in such ceremonies are participating in rituals and although they may not see themselves doing so, they are forcing themselves to conform eg to be solemn and forcefully believing the ceremonies.
As the Buddha said, no matter how people may circumambulate and pray, the evil are not going to heaven and the truly good are not going to hell. Your destination after death is not influenced by prayers, offerings or whatever others do but by your nature and therefore if you believe such rites are meaningful you have mad logic or delusion and is headed for the destination of wrong view (hell or the animal womb).
An Appeal To The Emotion & An Appeal To Reason:
What the pope says below appeals to the emotions of the audience not their rationality whilst what I say appeals entirely to the rationality or reason of the person, never his emotions.
(If you are an emotional man you will be moved by his entreaties and similarly be repelled by my appeal to your reason that reminds you of unpleasant truths about yourself and others. If you are an emotional man stirred by his words, emotionally partisan, you will be angered to lash out at me thinking God is behind you. It remains for posterity to tell you who is right)
Pope asks for spiritual 'wake-up'
Pope Benedict XVI has used his first Christmas message to issue a wake-up call to Catholics and to all humanity.
Addressing thousands in St Peter's Square, the pope said people of the 21st Century risked becoming "victims of their intellectual achievements".
He decried (if he did decry, it is being emotional which even if you did not believe is sin, stresses his mind as it stresses those who hear) the "menace" of terrorism (menace provokes emotion or dislike in the listener), the "humiliation" of worldwide poverty (humiliation is an emotion and there is nothing intrinsically humiliating about being poor, although it may be suffering or depriving) and said pandemics and environmental destruction were dangerous new threats.
His warnings about the series of dangers facing humanity today came ahead of traditional prayer calls for peace and goodwill around the world. (It might sound emotionally gratifying but how many will remember it for long and how many will put it into practice and even if they tried in their own ways, would such individual efforts be largely misguided even deluded? Even those who think they are good and discerning cannot see themselves and stop themselves stretching syllables, changing speed and loudness after they have been told in no uncertain terms, even when it is the key to permanent exit from stress, restlessness and distraction that benefits themselves as they will then benefit others, so how many will listen to and realize his plea? It is easy for you to call for this and that but to carry it out is impossible. If they are in truth ineffectual platitudes that appeal to the listener’s emotions than reason then whoever believes they are meaningful may be courting future insanity. The Buddha and Jesus never called for peace and goodwill around the world but instead Jesus said he has not come to bring peace on earth but with a sword. If peace and goodwill on earth is impossible not even on a modest scale and even Jesus cannot bring peace on earth how can the pope’s mere entreaties do so? If instead he brought to the people’s attention how they all stretched their syllables, changed speed and loudness constantly whilst speaking leading to insoluble stress, restlessness and distraction in themselves and their listeners that thus stressed they persecute each other with violent conduct, this might bring insight to some and truly help bring some much needed peace and true not fabricated goodwill in the world. If everyone in this world is acting and this is always driven by very strong implacable ill will never goodwill and there can be no true peace and goodwill between men without first exiting acting, you are like the man chasing the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow in calling for peace and goodwill in this world)
He prayed for those working for peace and against conflict in Africa and Asia, and for harmony in Latin America.
In the Holy Land, Iraq and Lebanon, the pope said, signs of hope need to be confirmed by action inspired by "fairness and wisdom".
He followed his address with the now-traditional Christmas greeting, delivered this year in 33 languages including Hebrew, Arabic, Chinese and Finnish.
Calling on Roman Catholics to think of those in Bethlehem, he said: "We wish to pray for peace in the Holy Land."
A Stunned Man:









This expression is never a pleasure, never calm clear thinking but it is always suffering, uncertain, restless and stressed that is not in his control.
He is one of the richest men on earth, has donated much to charity and so he should be the happiest master of himself so why is he possessed by this stunned fearful look?
Either by himself or as a result of provocation he has put himself in a agitated daze that for time being he can now still extricate himself with a forceful struggle but a time will come when he will descend into a deep forceful daze from which he cannot retrieve himself.
This look is never harmless but is indication of future torment that may even be everlasting. Even if I want, it is not possible for me to wear this expression on my face because the intense force and emotion required to wear this expression does not exist in my mind.
Stingy But Profligate:
Many are very stingy but yet they are willing to constantly waste prodigious energy in the process creating insoluble stress, restlessness and distraction by mindlessly stretching their syllables, changing speed and loudness not frequently but constantly when they speak.
Increasing speed within a stretched syllable is never free but you must use energy to blow faster. Increasing speed between syllables is never free but you have to use energy to increase the speed with which you reconfigure your vocal apparatus for the next syllable.
Increasing loudness is never free but you have to increase the force with which you blow air through your vocal apparatus.
Even when they are personally demonstrated how they change speed and loudness in speech, they continue to flout and even get upset, let alone they can see themselves doing so by themselves.
Even when it is possible to speak without stretching syllables, without changing speed and loudness and that is the way to the permanent exit from stress, restlessness and distractibility, people (and animals) everywhere throughout the ages and today continue to persecute themselves and others by practicing constant stretching of syllables, constant changes in speed and loudness even when they have been personally pointed out how they do so. It is therefore no minor feat for me to awaken to this universal unwitting self and other abuse and put a stop to it when others seem unable to.
I Am Not High Standing:
I agree without reservations I am not high standing and I do not contemplate being high standing and I do not think any title whether human or divine will make me high standing. Even if it was a certainty that I am the counselor it does not make me glower with pride or make me instantly high standing because as the Buddha said, to one who sees, there is nothing. To one who does not see, there is everything including high standing and he is a fool heading for suffering even for another eternity.
I am not a forceful, intimidating or dominating person, I am not emotional and you need them to be high standing.
High standing is a conditioned state in which someone who is emotional and insecure keeps dwelling on thoughts of how high standing he is stirring up pride that progressively gather in strength until it seizes him and he is helplessly high standing, cannot help being high standing which is never joy but suffering because just as he strives to impress others who can never be impressed because they are all fakers, he receives real and imagined brickbats and is hurt. No one need to condemn a high standing person except to ask for judgment himself because high standing is suffering no matter how you may deny.
Therefore you accuse me wrongly to say you gravely doubt my high standing. How do you know what and how I think? You are presumptuous, a defilement of your mind. Say you don’t think I am high standing in which case you admit you value high standing; don’t gravely doubt my high standing as if I practice high standing.
Many like to think they are great friends of others but others are only faking to them how much they appreciate his friendship. Because I am not an actor, I am never warm to anyone nowadays; I do not speak with stretched syllables and constant speed and loudness changes to be falsely nice as if very friendly I cannot be a hypocrite like others. I need such nice friendships as much as I need a bullet in my head and that he should think I might be interested in continuing the friendship shows he does not know me, not just in this instance but in every instance he accuses me.
I may not be being judgmental but it may be that sin is rife and I may be convincing others of judgment and if you yourself are judgmental and trying to shut up someone who convinces of others of judgment so that they may mend their ways, you may be the one headed for (grave) judgment.
THERE IS NO NEED TO RESORT TO SHAMEFUL ATTACKS ON THE PERSON BECAUSE IF PEOPLE ARE TRULY HONEST WITH THEMSELVES AND OTHERS (THEREFORE NOT ACTORS), THEY CAN JUST INFORM THE OTHER PARTY THEY DO NOT APPRECIATE HIS VIEWS AND STOP SENDING THOSE EMAILS THAT THEY FAKE THEY APPRECIATE. I WOULD RATHER PEOPLE SHOW ME THEIR TRUE COLORS AND BE TOLD NOT TO SEND THESE EMAILS THAN THAT THEY SHOULD SNIPE AT ME IN SILENCE.
Many have conveniently forgotten the incomparable woe and dark days of existence prior to 1977 and even a few years ago existence was significantly more difficult and what I said may have brought significant insight to those who heard, understood and put them to practice. It may be you who is ungrateful, who belittles my achievement in triggering that initial change in 1977 and just as the consciousness change I triggered in 1977 spread by domino effect without anyone knowing who did it, similarly even though the vast majority has not seen or heard me, it may be a domino effect again that causes everyone to change yet again in recent years. What they do not envisage is that they will be returned to those previously incomparably tormenting consciousness constraints and the next time there will be no one to change the consciousness settings for them.
HOWEVER OTHERS MIGHT PRETENTIOUSLY DENY, I KNOW WITHOUT DOUBT THERE ARE EXTRA ORDINARY CONSCIOUSNESS CHANGES BACK IN 1977 AND IN RECENT YEARS AND THE DOUBT FREE AND UNCERTAINTY FREE STRESS, RESTLESSNESS AND DISTRACTION FREE CALM AND CLEARLY THINKING MENTAL STATE THAT I NOW EXPERIENCE IS NOT POSSIBLE, UNTHINKABLE IN THE NORMAL COURSE OF HUMAN EXISTENCE. IF YOU STILL SUFFER GRAVELY, YOU HAVE NOBODY TO BLAME EXCEPT YOUR INTRANSIGENCE IN STILL BEING FORCEFUL, BEING EMOTIONAL, STRETCHING ALL YOUR SYLLABLES AND CONSTANTLY CHANGING SPEED AND LOUDNESS IN YOUR SPEECH NOT BECAUSE YOU ARE SO GOOD BUT BECAUSE YOU CANNOT GIVE UP MANIPULATING OTHERS.
Slander Is Deadly & Gratefulness Is To Be Exalted:
Slander is deadly and your mind can be split into seven pieces if you did not apologize according to the Buddha below. You should never attack a person physically or in speech and every time you want to attack a person or what he says or does, examine carefully whether he is attacking you and even if you think you are justified to attack, the price in future pain may be forbidding:
Venerable Sariputta was once falsely accused. At the end of the rainy season the Elder took leave of the Master to depart on a journey with his retinue of monks. A large number of monks also took leave of Sariputta and he addressed those who were known by their names by those names. Among them there was a monk who was not known by his name but was desirous that the Chief Disciple should address him by his name.
In the great throng of monks Sariputta did not give him this distinction and the monk was aggrieved. "He does not greet me as he does the other monks," he thought. At the same time the hem of the Elder's robe brushed against him, and this added to his grievance. He approached the Buddha and complained; "Lord, the Venerable Sariputta, doubtless thinking to himself, 'I am the Chief Disciple' (accusing him of being high standing), struck me a blow that almost damaged my ear. And having done that without so much as begging my pardon, he set out on his journey."
The Buddha summoned Sariputta. Meanwhile, the Venerable Maha Moggallana and the Venerable Ananda summoned all the monks, convoking an assembly.
When the Master questioned the great Elder, instead of denying the charge he said: "O Lord, one who is not firmly established in the contemplation of the body with regard to his body, such a one may be able to hurt a fellow monk and leave without apologizing." Then followed the Venerable Sariputta's lion's roar; he compared his freedom from anger and hatred with the patience of the earth which receives all things, clean and unclean; his tranquility of mind to a bull with severed horns, to a lowly Candala youth, to water, fire and wind and to the removal of impurity; he compared the oppression he felt from his own body to the oppression of snakes and corpses, and the maintenance of his body to that of fatty excrescences. In nine similes he described his own virtues, and nine times the great earth responded to the words of truth (by shaking). The entire assembly was moved by the majestic force of his utterance.
As the Elder proclaimed his virtues, remorse filled the monk who had unjustly traduced him. Immediately, he fell at the feet of the Blessed One, admitting his slander and confessing his fault. Thereupon the Buddha said: "Sariputta, pardon this deluded man, lest his head should split into seven pieces." Sariputta's reply was: "Venerable sir, I freely pardon this venerable monk." And with joined palms, he added, "May this venerable monk also pardon me if I have in any way offended him." (Notice Sariputta apologized to the monk even though he was the innocent party, but only after the monk apologized and he had pardoned the monk. When Sariputta took leave of the Buddha for the final time, he similarly asked the Buddha to forgive him should anything he said or did displease the Buddha. Sariputta was noted for his gratefulness and he may be showing final gratefulness to the Buddha for pointing him to the way to enlightenment out of suffering.)
The Buddha's comment was: "Bhikkhus, it is impossible for Sariputta and his like to cherish anger or hatred. Sariputta's mind is like the great earth, firm like a gate post, like a pool of still water."
Unresentful like the earth, firm like a gate post,With mind like a clear pool, such is the virtuous manFor whom the round of births exists no more.

The person who says he will not listen to me unless I am truly the counselor, unless I am impeccable or truly high standing and non judgmental is like the foolish man the Buddha said who is mortally wounded by an arrow but refuse to allow the physician to remove it unless he knew who struck the arrow:
Cula-Malunkyovada Sutta
The Shorter Instructions to Malunkya

Ven. Malunkyaputta reflected: "These positions that are undisclosed by the Blessed One -- 'The cosmos is eternal, not eternal,' 'The cosmos is finite, infinite,' 'The soul is one thing and the body another,' 'After death a Tathagata exists, does not exist.' I don't accept that the Blessed One has not disclosed them to me. I'll go ask the Blessed One. If he discloses to me similarly then I will renounce the training and return to the lower life."
Then, Ven. Malunkyaputta went to the Blessed One.
"Lord, if the Blessed One knows that 'The cosmos is eternal,' then may he disclose to me.' If he knows that 'The cosmos is not eternal,' then may he disclose to me.' But if he doesn't know or see, the straightforward things is to admit, 'I don't know. I don't see.'
"Malunkyaputta, did I ever say, 'Come, Malunkyaputta, live the holy life under me, and I will disclose to you that 'The cosmos is eternal or not eternal,' or 'The cosmos is finite or infinite?" "No, lord."
"And did you ever say to me, 'Lord, I will live the holy life under the Blessed One and [in return] he will disclose to me that 'The cosmos is eternal,'
"No, lord."
"Then that being the case, foolish man, who are you to be claiming grievances/ making demands of anyone?
"Malunkyaputta, if anyone were to say, 'I won't live the holy life under the Blessed One as long as he does not disclose to me that "The cosmos is eternal; the man would die and those things would still remain undisclosed by the Tathagata.
"It's just as if a man were wounded with an arrow thickly smeared with poison. His friends would provide him with a surgeon, and the man would say, 'I won't have this arrow removed until I know whether the man who wounded me was a noble warrior, a priest, a merchant or a worker.' He would say, 'I won't have this arrow removed until I know the given name & clan name of the man who wounded me...or until I know whether the bow with which I was wounded was a long bow or a crossbow...until I know whether the bowstring with which I was wounded was fiber, bamboo threads, sinew, hemp. The man would die and those things would still remain unknown to him.
"It's not the case that when 'The cosmos is eternal,' there is the living of the holy life. Whether, 'The cosmos is eternal,' or 'The cosmos is not eternal,' there is still the birth, aging, death, sorrow, pain, despair, & distress whose destruction I make known right here & now.
"So, Malunkyaputta, remember 'The cosmos is eternal,' is undisclosed by me. 'The cosmos is not eternal,' is undisclosed by me.
"And why are they undisclosed by me? Because they are not connected with the goal, do not lead to disenchantment, dispassion, cessation, calming, direct knowledge, self-awakening, Unbinding.
"And what is disclosed by me? 'This is stress,' 'This is the origination of stress,' 'This is the cessation of stress,' 'This is the path of practice leading to the cessation of stress,'. And why are they disclosed by me? Because they are connected with the goal. They lead to disenchantment, dispassion, cessation, calming, direct knowledge, self-awakening, Unbinding.
