The Five Hindrances:

The Nature Of The Five Hindrances:
Like the greasy grime that besmirches a plate after a dinner, the five hindrances that the Buddha spoke of are greasy adherent emotional states constantly present to greater or lesser extent in the minds of all ordinary people detaining them in suffering that will increase with age and will ultimately deliver them to perdition.
The five hindrances (covetousness, ill will/anger, sloth and torpor, uncertainty and restlessness/anxiety) that the Buddha spoke of are coexisting related conditioned or false state of the mind that preoccupy or distract that mind, are always suffering and never pleasurable and prevents true wisdom that leads to right conduct and true happiness from arising.
So long as a mind is detained or preoccupied by these five mental states so long does it suffer, distracted & hindered from calm clear thinking and thus driven by the five hindrances is vulnerable to commit sins that leads to punishment.
All the five hindrances are forceful or emotional states whose strength waxes and wanes but never ceases and whatever is forceful that is applied on the mind causes stress. Not only does the mind suffer, it is increasingly conditioned by these states and will be detained in lower realms of existence.
It is because all ordinary people have never experienced the mental state completely freed of the five hindrances that they continue to wallow in the mire complacent and thinking they are fine when they are suffering and heading for worse. Anyone who has been released from a prison will not return to his prison if he can help it.
Sloth & Torpor:
Sloth or mental laziness (that leads to bodily laziness) is the opposite of unflagging persistence. If one is mired in suffering, one’s mind is assailed by stress, restlessness and distracted then one cannot be complacent but one must maintain unflagging persistence to eliminate and replace it with calm clear thinking but instead if one were to be indifferent or indulgent, allowing one’s mind to continue to be conditioned to them, one would be slothful.
Torpor is drowsiness or diffusion the opposite of alertness. Noble alertness is not the fabricated stress inducing eagle eyed, force driven anticipatory alertness but it is a passive awareness of what is happening primarily to one’s mind and body but also secondarily the environment.
Only one who maintains his mind always in a state of alertness with unflagging persistence to eliminate unwholesome mental states (emotions like fear, anger, distress, covetousness) and unskillful thoughts (eg fantasy) is heedful, headed for safety after death.
Ill Will: This is a forceful wish to harm others and whoever harbors desires to harm others must also harbor desires to harm himself because he is suffering insolubly because of his ill will. Only a mind with mental force has ill will, because mental force is the drive behind ill will.
Uncertainty is the result of forceful doubting of self and others. It is a reflection of how crucial doubt and uncertainty is that the Buddha has placed emphasis on it in various places. Doubting and uncertainty is the opposite of faith and is one of three lower fetters to states of future woe and it is also one of the five hindrances to the mind.
Restlessness is always forceful in forceful or emotional people and prevents them from thinking clearly that is crucial to escape from suffering. A restless mind is careless and in danger of committing deeds that harm itself and others.
Covetousness is the forceful desire to acquire that can never be assuaged but must be killed if the mind is to achieve any meaningful peace. Just like people underestimate their restlessness, distractibility, doubting and uncertainty, they are often unaware they do so, they also seriously underestimate their covetousness.
For instance they may be sitting peaceful and suddenly they desire to get themselves a drink even though they are not very thirsty. They see an object advertised on TV or the papers and straightaway they want or wish they have it.
What Are Rituals?
Faith in rituals and precepts is one of three lower fetters (together with doubt and uncertainty and self identity views) that that the Buddha said leads to future states of woe so it is important for the wise person to recognize all forms of rituals lest he descend to woe after death.
Any sequence of motion (behavior) or speech that is stereotyped, rendered by rote or memory from a mental jukebox without need for consciousness that may appear appropriate to the situation but is a rigid standardized fake that fools the person and observers that it is real time when it is an approximation, a substitute for live performance is a ritual. All rituals or ritualized speech or behavior are driven by force, powered by force and with repeated abuse conditions the mind such that they become hard or impossible to resist. There is overwhelming urge to mindlessly say or do the same things so that the fool will ultimately descend into mad rote behavior or speech and head for perdition.
Just like electricity is the drive behind a stereo system’s reproduction with no consciousness ever needed except for a person with consciousness to start the system and select tracks, force is the drive behind all rituals and the person only acts as disc jockey to initiate and occasionally modify the sequence to which he is only a voyeur observing himself behaving or speaking by rote or automation.
Why No Images Of The Buddha:
It seems the Buddha may have forbidden his followers to make images of him. An empty throne or a wheel (as in the wheel of the dharma or universal law) was used to represent him in early years. In the same way it may be intended that there were no images of the true Jesus lest it promoted a cult.
Setting Others Up:
Many do not realize what and the way something is said to them is devious and sets them up nor what they are speaking is devious and sets other people up but even if they are unaware, they must all experience emotional and wrenching visceral reactions especially if the matter involved is personal and important to them.
Anyone who likes to speak in a way that sets up other people and anyone who sees nothing wrong with being set up are heading for suffering that may extent far beyond this life.
Quote NY Times: One last question. Who did the work?
Comment: Why is the statement loaded or deceptive?
Many people relish concealing their motives and giving others a surprise particularly of a nasty kind. What and how it is likely to be said suggests it is a routine ‘one last question’ when the person knows this last question will be a ‘bombshell’ or devastating, asking whether the piece of work is done by him.
The person responsible might be smug in his ability to lull others into a false sense of security before delivering a rude surprise but he is headed for suffering that may be more everlasting and tormenting than he ever realized because he is a goat who cannot let his yes be yes only and ask without concealed ill will, “Did you do it?” without the jazz of falsely reassuring ‘one last question’ and pretentious “Who did it?”
Not A Matter Of Faith:
What I say is not a matter for faith or belief and therefore it is not a subject for doubt or questioning.
Instead what I say is a matter for discernment, depends on the reader’s ability to grasp or see (eg that he is stretching his syllables, he is changing speed and loudness all the time he speaks and how these are forceful, driven by force, consumes energy leading inevitably to stress, restlessness and distraction) and put into practice (if you cannot apply yourself to persistently pay attention to the way you speak in order to detect stretched syllables, speed and loudness changes, apply yourself to stop them).
If you cannot grasp what I say, you cannot see yourself smiling, stretching syllables, constantly changing speed and loudness, you cannot put a stop to these activities, you will continue to be beset by stress, restlessness and distraction not because what I say is wrong but you have nobody to blame except yourself for being not as discerning as you think you are, not as good as you think you are (because you continue to defile or persecute yourself and others by stretching syllables, changing speed and loudness).
I do not make statements or claims brashly, emotionally without basis or truth. If I what I say is not unique (nobody has said it before) and clearly beneficial (I have experienced for myself a previously inconceivable effortless permanent release from stress, restlessness and distraction by quitting acting, quitting emotions, quitting constant stretching of syllables, changes in speed and loudness), I would not make any claims to exclusivity.
This world including its clerics, scientists and physicians want you to believe that stress and restlessness are part and parcel of existence and OK. What I am saying which accords to what the Buddha has said (stress and the cessation of stress is at the core of the Buddha’s teaching) is that stress and restlessness are not harmless but warp and degrade the mind, condition the mind to more easily experience them to increasingly intense levels that gets harder to shake off, are not mandatory to existence but they are merely the optional unavoidable results of the way all beings (not just humans but animals) behave.
It is possible to permanently exit stress by not perceiving (seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting and touching), not thinking, speaking and behaving with added force or emotion that applies force on the mind to cause pain that further conditions that mind to stress apart from degrading it.
It is possible to permanently exit restlessness by not perceiving, thinking, speaking and behaving with constant forceful changes in speed and forcefulness/loudness. If in truth you are constantly changing in speed and loudness in your speech and you cannot discern them, then you have poor discernment and nothing can be done for you but you must continue to suffer restlessness because you are blind and you are not as good as you think because your blind constant changes in speed and forcefulness incites others to suffer restlessness.
YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO DOUBT WHAT I SAY AND IF YOU DO YOU ARE A FOOL WHO WILL SUFFER AND IS HEADED FOR MAD DOUBT AND UNCERTAINTY.
IT IS NO USE BELIEVING OR NOT BELIEVING WHAT I SAY BECAUSE IT ACHIEVES NOTHING. WHAT IS IMPORTANT IS WHETHER YOU CAN SEE WHAT I SAY EG THAT THERE ARE CONSTANT STRETCHING OF SYLLABLES, CONSTANT CHANGES IN SPEED AND LOUDNESS IN YOUR SPEECH AND THAT OF EVERYONE ELSE’S AND TO APPLY YOURSELF TO PUT A STOP TO THESE ACTIVITIES THEREBY EXPERIENCING A PREVIOUSLY INCONCEIVABLE PERMANENT RELEASE FROM STRESS AND RESTLESSNESS.
BECAUSE MANY CANNOT SEE THEMSELVES STRETCHING THEIR SYLLABLES, CANNOT SEE THEMSELVES CHANGING SPEED AND LOUDNESS ALL THE TIME (OR THEY SEE NOTHING WRONG WITH THEM WHEN THEY ARE THE ROOTS OF THE STRESS AND RESTLESSNESS THAT MUST REGULARLY TORMENT THEM), THEY HAVE NOT GIVEN THEMSELVES A REASONABLE TRIAL PERIOD WHERE THEY DID NOT STRETCHED THEIR SYLLABLES, CHANGED SPEED OR LOUDNESS (THEY ARE NOT MASTERS OF THEMSELVES AS THEY DELUDE THEMSELVES THEY ARE), THEY EMOTIONALLY ACCUSE ME OF BEING A CHARLATAN OR IMPOSTER.
WHY ACCUSE ME OF BEING NOT AS HIGH STANDING AS YOU THINK I THINK I AM WHEN IF YOU CAN NOT STRETCH YOUR SYLLABLES, NOT CHANGE SPEED AND LOUDNESS BETTER THAN ME, YOU WILL EXPERIENCE A BETTER PERMANENT RELEASE FROM STRESS AND RESTLESSNESS THAN ME?
EVERYONE, NOT SOME SUFFERED FROM STRESS AND RESTLESSNESS IN THE PAST AND TODAY. THEY WERE ONLY STRUGGLING TO CONTAIN AND SUPPRESS THEIR STRESS AND RESTLESSNESS THAT CAN OFTEN ROSE TO EXCRUCIATING LEVELS THAT THREATENED AND ULTIMATELY WILL SLIP FROM THEIR GRASP TO DESCEND INTO MADNESS.
TODAY IT IS MADE KNOWN BY ME THAT THERE IS A SIMPLE PERMANENT ESCAPE FROM STRESS AND RESTLESSNESS, NAMELY STOP SMILING, STOP STRETCHING YOUR SYLLABLES, STOP FORCEFULLY CHANGING SPEED AND LOUDNESS WHILST YOU SPEAK.
AS SIMPLE AS IT MAY SEEM, NO ONE THROUGHOUT THE AGES HAS SAID THAT AND IF WHAT I SAY IS TRUE THEN I MUST BE SOMEONE OF SOME DISTINCTION TO SAY THAT.
WITH THE CONSCIOUSNESS CHANGE THAT I TRIGGERED IN 1977 IT IS NOW POSSIBLE TO PERMANENTLY EXIT STRESS AND RESTLESSNESS BY STOPPING APPLYING FORCE ON YOUR MIND, BY STOPPING STRETCHING SYLLABLES AND CHANGING SPEED AND LOUDNESS WHILST SPEAKING BUT EVEN AFTER I HAVE DEMONSTRATED IN NO UNCERTAIN TERMS REPEATEDLY IN MANY DIFFERENT WAYS HOW THEY DO SO, EVEN THOSE WHO THINK THEY ARE GOOD OR SMART CONTINUE TO STRETCH THEIR SYLLABLES, CHANGE SPEED AND LOUDNESS, WHAT MORE THAT THEY SHOULD SPONTANEOUSLY COME TO A REALIZATION THAT THEY STRETCHED THEIR SYLLABLES, CHANGED SPEED AND LOUDNESS AND HOW THEY LEAD TO STRESS AND RESTLESSNESS?
IF I DID NOT TRIGGER THE CONSCIOUSNESS CHANGES IN 1977 AND WHAT I SAY IS NOT UNIQUE AND BENEFICIAL, NOBODY HAS SAID WHAT I SAID IN THE PAST, I WOULD NOT CLAIM TO BE SPECIAL. IF THE CONSCIOUSNESS CHANGE I TRIGGERED BENEFITED EVERYONE AND WHAT I SAY, IN PARTICULAR ABOUT ACTING, STRETCHING SYLLABLES, CHANGING SPEED AND LOUDNESS IS THE ONLY WAY OUT OF STRESS AND RESTLESSNESS PREVIOUSLY INCONCEIVABLE, THEN WHOEVER IS THE COUNSELOR JESUS PROMISED MUST ALSO DWELL ON THOSE MATTERS TO BE TO YOUR ADVANTAGE TO COME AND CONVINCE YOU OF SIN, RIGTHEOUSNESS AND JUDGMENT. IF I HAVE ALREADY DONE SO AS NO ONE HAS DONE, I WOULD HAVE PREEMPTED HIM.
If Jesus wanted you and everyone to know with certainty who the counselor is he would have said so. That he did not say so suggests the precise identity of the counselor shall remain undisclosed because it serves no purpose and may be even untenably dangerous. Jesus called him the counselor and therefore his main function is to advice and he will teach you all things.
How Intelligent Or Good Can You Be?
For one who sees correctly things as they are, ordinary people (and animals) stretch their syllables or vocalized notes not frequently but all the time. And whenever they stretch their syllables they invariably accelerate in loudness and speed to greater or lesser extent. Often they accelerate in speed and loudness from one syllable to the next, one word to the next so that they finish the sentence faster and louder than they began.
Acceleration within a stretched syllable is not subjective but it is an objective clear audible rise in pitch of the stretched sound.
If you cannot see this is so, how discerning can you be?
If you can see but you see nothing wrong, you think it is pleasant to your ears when it is a pain, it consumes prodigious energy cumulatively leading to stress, restlessness and distraction not just for yourself but to those at the receiving end, how good can you be?
