THUS BECAUSE THE BUDDHA IS THE HIGHEST BEING UTTERLY FREED OF GREED, HATE AND DELUSION WHAT IS GIVEN TO HIM RESULTS IN THE HIGHEST RESULTS.
Here, bhikkhus, there are three factors to the giver and three factors to the acceptor. Bhikkhus, what are the three fators of the giver? Even before giving the giver has a pleasant mind, while giving the mind is pleased and having given the mind is pleased. These are the three fators of the giver. What are the three factors of the acceptor? Here bhikkhus the acceptor is free of greed, free of anger and free of delusion. Bhikkhus, these are the three factors of the acceptor. Bhikkhus, thus it becomes a gift endowed with six factors.
Bhikkhus, it is not easy to account for the merits of a gift endowed with these six factors as, it is a yield of merit, a yield of good, a bringer of pleasantness and heavenly bliss that is conducive to agreeability and pleasantness of such a measure. It becomes a mass of pleasantness that is immeasurable. As the water in the great ocean cannot be measured as it is a hundred vessels full of water, or a thousand vessels full of water or a hundred thousand vessels full of water, yet it becomes a mass of water that is immeasurable. In the same manner bhikkhus, it is not easy to account for the merits of a gift endowed with these six factors as, it is a yield of merit, a yield of good, a bringer of pleasantness and heavenly bliss that is conducive to agreeability and pleasantness of such a measure. It becomes a mass of pleasantness that is immeasurable.
Even before giving the mind is pleased, while giving is pleased,
Having given is pleased, this is the accomplishment in giving a gift.
The restrained, leading a holy life, free of greed, hate and delusion
Are the field for offering gifts.
By oneself cooked and offering with one's own hands
One's belongings offered to others is of great fruit.
The wise offering with faith and released mind
Are reborn in a world of pleasantness without troubles

This is a question posed at a BBC site. It takes a big fool to say that.
It is a question driven by greed and intended to stir greed in others apart from taking risk in the name of making money. Even if you are correct and you make a lot of money for others there is deadly karma for promoting risk taking and greed, if you are wrong and people sustained losses listening to you, you share the blame for their losses.
THIS IS A NO WIN SITUATION FOR THE FOOL. EVEN IF SHE IS CORRECT, SHE IS ASKING FOR HER HEAD TO BE CHOPPED, IF SHE IS WRONG, HER HEAD WILL AGAIN BE CHOPPED. YOUR HEAD HAS NOT BEEN CHOPPED YET SO DO NOT TOO SURE YOU WON’T MIND IT MUCH OR AT ALL.
What matters in giving:
It is not the amount, the millions you give that will send you to heaven, but it is how you give it with a pleasant mind before, during and afterwards and who you give to. You can only give the Buddha one meal, some clothing or shelter and these are never expensive but even very cheap yet the merit in giving if done properly with a happy heart will give you INCALCULABLE MERIT according to the Buddha.
THE PERSON WHO THINKS HE HAS DONE MUCH BECAUSE HE HAS DONATED MILLIONS TO CHARITY IS DELUDED.
WHAT MATTERS IS HOW YOU DO IT WITH A PLEASANT MIND BEFORE, DURING AND AFTER AND THAT THE PERSON RECEIVING SHOULD BE FREE OF GREED, ILL WILL AND DELUSION. HERE, EVEN A MEAL GIVEN CAN GIVE RISE TO MERIT THAT IS IMMEASURABLE, LIKE THE OCEAN SAID THE BUDDHA.

This is a NYT headline. The statement is silly, does not make sense and yet people see nothing wrong.
You need force to fight and it is the wrong approach to the problem. What is needed is calm thinking to resolve the problem not aroused force to fight to save the probe. If a tiger attacks you then logically there is a case of you fighting but in this case, what has fighting got to do with it? Rather than fight, you must remain calm to correctly understand the problems and how it may be resolved if possible.

Global recovery threatened
Europe's crisis has cast a shadow over the world's fragile recovery.
What is stated is never out of truth or seeing but greed driven conjecture that must encounter self resistance and doubt. If you are greedy for gains then you must attempt to delve into matters you do not know, namely global recovery and whether it is threatened.
If global recovery is not possible and you say it is threatened then you are deluded.
IT IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR THE WORLD TO RECOVER TO THE PAST BECAUSE FOR ONE WHO SEES RIGHTLY THE WORLD WAS LIVING WAY BEYOND ITS MEANS WITH HIGHLY LEVERAGED DEBT, IF IT WAS POSSIBLE TO LIVE BEYOND YOUR MEANS IN PERPETUITY THIS WOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED. IF THE WORLD WAS LIVING WITHIN ITS MEANS THAT RECOVERY IS POSSIBLE BUT IF THE WORLD HAS BEEN GROSSLY LIVING BEYOND ITS MEANS AND NOW THERE IS MASSIVE DEBT OVERHANGING THE SYSTEM, GLOBAL RECOVERY IS A DELUSION.

This is a much copied and rehashed deluded false statement aimed at worshipping thinking and self-identity.
Thinking is not the entirety or even heart of being, there is a higher state of being where thinking has stopped and so it is false to say I think therefore I am, even without thinking you are, too a much greater and higher extent you are WITHOUT thinking.
BECAUSE NOT ONLY IS THERE BEING WITHOUT THINKING, IT IS A HIGHER MORE BLISSFUL BEING THAT COMES WITH IT TWO ETERNITIES IN HEAVEN, ANYONE WHO SAYS ‘I THINK THEREFORE I AM’ IS DELUDED.

Even if lenders forgive 100% the debts that Greece, Italy, et al owes, there is no reason to celebrate because it means those lenders will sustain massive losses and wealth that the system thinks it has, has vanished ‘in a puff of smoke’.

THERE IS LIMITED USE PRACTICING THE BUDDHA’S TEACHINGS BY ROTE (EG EAT ONE MEAL, NO KILLING, NO SEX, NO ALCOHOL) WITHOUT UNDERSTANDING WHAT THE BUDDHA TAUGHT.
IT IS THROUGH A TRUE UNDERSTANDING OF WHAT THE BUDDHA TAUGHT AND TRULY PUTTING INTO PRACTICE THE DISCIPLINE AS DELINEATED BY HIM THAT THE DISCIPLE REAPS EVEN LIMITLESS BENEFITS, RELEASE FROM SUFFERING HERE AND EVEN ETERNITIES OF BLISS AND ULTIMATELY ENLIGHTENMENT.
And what is the discipline declared by the Buddha?
It is essentially, comprehensively practicing the eightfold path that includes right mindfulness, right view, right resolve, right effort, right speech (no lies, divisive speech, idle chatter), right conduct (not taking what is not given, harming and killing), right occupation, right concentration (developing the four higher states of mind).
Part of the Buddha’s discipline is not to sit on high chairs or sleep on high beds, not to eat at night or inappropriate hours, practice seclusion and avoid gregariousness.
BECAUSE PEOPLE NEGLECT THE DISCIPLINE, THEY ARE LIKE VOYEURS WHO NEVER GAIN THE BENEFITS OF THE RELIGIOUS OR HOLY LIFE, THEY ARE LIKE COWHERDS WITHOUT THEIR OWN COWS COUNTING OTHERS’ COWS.

Americans may be broke with trouble ahead:

A look at the fall in the U.S. savings rate raises one crucial question: are Americans crazy, or just broke?
The answer may hold the key for whether the country is headed for another recession or a policy-engineered recovery.
The personal savings rate fell in September to 3.6 percent, the lowest since December 2007. Given that household balance sheets are still under stress from tumbling housing prices — and tiny rates of savings for much of the last decade — this makes little sense as a strategy.
The savings rate did claw its way higher in 2008 and 2009, ranging mostly in the 5 to 5.5 percent range, but started to head south this summer and has now been falling for three straight months.
While consumer spending helped to drive GDP to a 2.5 percent annual growth rate, the stuff people were spending money on was telling. Spending on health care and utilities was the main impetus behind the consumer contribution to growth, and after all those are things it is really hard to cut back upon.
Really it seems that people were not saving because they simply did not have the money. “The hallmark of the Q3 GDP report is that a massive and unsustainable gap has opened up between incomes and spending,” Gluskin Sheff strategist David Rosenberg wrote in a note to clients.
“If we don’t soon start to see personal income growth revive, then consumer budgets are going to be staring a contraction in the face.”

BEIJING: A collection of photos featuring 1930s Chinese singer-actress Zhou Xuan fetched some 2.18 million yuan (S$445,000) at an auction in China, and set the record for the highest price ever procured for a photo collection in the country.
According to Huachen Auctions, which conducted the sale, the collection of 1,957 photographs originally belonged to Zhou.
It contains some 303 photographs depicting her private life, along with two commemorative photobooks gifted to her by the film studios she had worked with, which are believed to be the only copies ever printed.

If the giver is gladdened before, during and after giving and the receiver is free from greed (not stirred to delight in the gift), hate and delusion then that giving results in the highest rewards or results.
NOT ALL GIVING IS THE SAME, DEPENDING ON THE STATE OF THE GIVER AND THE RECEIVER, THE MERIT IS HIGHEST.
IF THE GIVER IS GLADDENED BEFORE, DURING AND AFTER GIVING AND THE RECEIVER IS FREE OF GREED, HATE AND DELUSION THEN THAT GIVING IS THE HIGHEST.
THUS BECAUSE THE BUDDHA IS THE HIGHEST BEING UTTERLY FREED OF GREED, HATE AND DELUSION WHAT IS GIVEN TO HIM RESULTS IN THE HIGHEST RESULTS.

What are the three factors of the acceptor? Here bhikkhus the acceptor is free of greed, free of anger and free of delusion. Bhikkhus, these are the three factors of the acceptor. Bhikkhus, thus it becomes a gift endowed with six factors.
Bhikkhus, it is not easy to account for the merits of a gift endowed with these six factors as, it is a yield of merit, a yield of good, a bringer of pleasantness and heavenly bliss that is conducive to agreeability and pleasantness of such a measure. It becomes a mass of pleasantness that is immeasurable. As the water in the great ocean cannot be measured as it is a hundred vessels full of water, or a thousand vessels full of water or a hundred thousand vessels full of water, yet it becomes a mass of water that is immeasurable. In the same manner bhikkhus, it is not easy to account for the merits of a gift endowed with these six factors as, it is a yield of merit, a yield of good, a bringer of pleasantness and heavenly bliss that is conducive to agreeability and pleasantness of such a measure. It becomes a mass of pleasantness that is immeasurable.
Even before giving the mind is pleased, while giving is pleased,
Having given is pleased, this is the accomplishment in giving a gift.
The restrained, leading a holy life, free of greed, hate and delusion
Are the field for offering gifts.
By oneself cooked and offering with one's own hands
One's belongings offered to others is of great fruit.
The wise offering with faith and released mind
Are reborn in a world of pleasantness without troubles

It is a question driven by greed and intended to stir greed in others apart from taking risk in the name of making money. Even if you are correct and you make a lot of money for others there is deadly karma for promoting risk taking and greed, if you are wrong and people sustained losses listening to you, you share the blame for their losses.

THE PERSON WHO THINKS HE HAS DONE MUCH BECAUSE HE HAS DONATED MILLIONS TO CHARITY IS DELUDED.
WHAT MATTERS IS HOW YOU DO IT WITH A PLEASANT MIND BEFORE, DURING AND AFTER AND THAT THE PERSON RECEIVING SHOULD BE FREE OF GREED, ILL WILL AND DELUSION. HERE, EVEN A MEAL GIVEN CAN GIVE RISE TO MERIT THAT IS IMMEASURABLE, LIKE THE OCEAN SAID THE BUDDHA.

You need force to fight and it is the wrong approach to the problem. What is needed is calm thinking to resolve the problem not aroused force to fight to save the probe. If a tiger attacks you then logically there is a case of you fighting but in this case, what has fighting got to do with it? Rather than fight, you must remain calm to correctly understand the problems and how it may be resolved if possible.

Europe's crisis has cast a shadow over the world's fragile recovery.
What is stated is never out of truth or seeing but greed driven conjecture that must encounter self resistance and doubt. If you are greedy for gains then you must attempt to delve into matters you do not know, namely global recovery and whether it is threatened.
If global recovery is not possible and you say it is threatened then you are deluded.
IT IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR THE WORLD TO RECOVER TO THE PAST BECAUSE FOR ONE WHO SEES RIGHTLY THE WORLD WAS LIVING WAY BEYOND ITS MEANS WITH HIGHLY LEVERAGED DEBT, IF IT WAS POSSIBLE TO LIVE BEYOND YOUR MEANS IN PERPETUITY THIS WOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED. IF THE WORLD WAS LIVING WITHIN ITS MEANS THAT RECOVERY IS POSSIBLE BUT IF THE WORLD HAS BEEN GROSSLY LIVING BEYOND ITS MEANS AND NOW THERE IS MASSIVE DEBT OVERHANGING THE SYSTEM, GLOBAL RECOVERY IS A DELUSION.

Thinking is not the entirety or even heart of being, there is a higher state of being where thinking has stopped and so it is false to say I think therefore I am, even without thinking you are, too a much greater and higher extent you are WITHOUT thinking.
BECAUSE NOT ONLY IS THERE BEING WITHOUT THINKING, IT IS A HIGHER MORE BLISSFUL BEING THAT COMES WITH IT TWO ETERNITIES IN HEAVEN, ANYONE WHO SAYS ‘I THINK THEREFORE I AM’ IS DELUDED.
THINKING CAN BE AND IS DELUDED IN EMOTIONAL PEOPLE AND THUS BECAUSE YOUR THINKING IS DELUDED, YOU ARE DELUDED AND THAT IS NOTHING TO CROW ABOUT ‘I THINK THEREFORE I AM’.
WITHOUT UNDERSTANDING WHAT YOU SAY YOU ARE NOT ENTITLED TO SAY IT UNLESS YOU WANT TO GENERATE SELF RESISTANCE, CONFLICT, DOUBT AND UNCERTAINTY. IT IS NEVER TRUE REASON THAT IS THE BASIS OF THE STATEMENT, ‘I THINK THEREFORE I AM’ BUT IT IS DELUSION, IT IS FASCINATION WITH WHAT SOUNDS GRANDIOUS AND IS FALSE.
THINKING IS NOT ESSENTIAL TO BEING, THERE IS EVEN HIGHER DEATH FREE, SUFFER FREE BEING WHEN THINKING HAS STOPPED AND SO TO EXALT THINKING AS THE KEY OR ESSENCE OF YOUR BEING IS DELUSION.

THERE IS LIMITED USE PRACTICING THE BUDDHA’S TEACHINGS BY ROTE (EG EAT ONE MEAL, NO KILLING, NO SEX, NO ALCOHOL) WITHOUT UNDERSTANDING WHAT THE BUDDHA TAUGHT.
IT IS THROUGH A TRUE UNDERSTANDING OF WHAT THE BUDDHA TAUGHT AND TRULY PUTTING INTO PRACTICE THE DISCIPLINE AS DELINEATED BY HIM THAT THE DISCIPLE REAPS EVEN LIMITLESS BENEFITS, RELEASE FROM SUFFERING HERE AND EVEN ETERNITIES OF BLISS AND ULTIMATELY ENLIGHTENMENT.
And what is the discipline declared by the Buddha?
It is essentially, comprehensively practicing the eightfold path that includes right mindfulness, right view, right resolve, right effort, right speech (no lies, divisive speech, idle chatter), right conduct (not taking what is not given, harming and killing), right occupation, right concentration (developing the four higher states of mind).
Part of the Buddha’s discipline is not to sit on high chairs or sleep on high beds, not to eat at night or inappropriate hours, practice seclusion and avoid gregariousness.
BECAUSE PEOPLE NEGLECT THE DISCIPLINE, THEY ARE LIKE VOYEURS WHO NEVER GAIN THE BENEFITS OF THE RELIGIOUS OR HOLY LIFE, THEY ARE LIKE COWHERDS WITHOUT THEIR OWN COWS COUNTING OTHERS’ COWS.

A look at the fall in the U.S. savings rate raises one crucial question: are Americans crazy, or just broke?
The answer may hold the key for whether the country is headed for another recession or a policy-engineered recovery.
The personal savings rate fell in September to 3.6 percent, the lowest since December 2007. Given that household balance sheets are still under stress from tumbling housing prices — and tiny rates of savings for much of the last decade — this makes little sense as a strategy.
The savings rate did claw its way higher in 2008 and 2009, ranging mostly in the 5 to 5.5 percent range, but started to head south this summer and has now been falling for three straight months.
While consumer spending helped to drive GDP to a 2.5 percent annual growth rate, the stuff people were spending money on was telling. Spending on health care and utilities was the main impetus behind the consumer contribution to growth, and after all those are things it is really hard to cut back upon.
Really it seems that people were not saving because they simply did not have the money. “The hallmark of the Q3 GDP report is that a massive and unsustainable gap has opened up between incomes and spending,” Gluskin Sheff strategist David Rosenberg wrote in a note to clients.
“If we don’t soon start to see personal income growth revive, then consumer budgets are going to be staring a contraction in the face.”
One thing is clear, at some point the savings rate will have to rise. Putting that off for a time may help ease the pains of deleveraging, but only by extending them. That is a temporizing measure rather than a solution.
Asset markets aren’t priced for the rise in savings, but some day, when the policy drugs wear off, they will be.

Clearly, many nations like Greece and Italy (including the US and UK, even Japan) cannot repay their MASSIVE debts today and they have no hope repaying the debts even 10 years down the line (because of aging & growing population, dwindling resources and a damaged earth, compounding interests on debts) and that means those who have lent money to these nations have lost their money, have no hope of recovering that money except in their delusion and if they have lost that money, it means the system is much poorer than it likes to think it is and if it is much poorer how can it continue to live the current lifestyle as if it is much richer? If this cannot go on, living above one’s means it means recession even depression.
And where has the money gone to? Who are these market players who have money and are balking at continuing to lend to Italy et al?
The money is now in the hands of a minority, successful companies like Apple, IBM, Sony and the hoard who have vast cash reserves, in the hands of wealthy individuals many of whom are anonymous, eg capitalists like Buffet, Murdoch, politicians and crooks who have corruptly stolen money from the system, politicians and cronies who have borrowed vast amounts of money in the name of the people and spent it wastefully, overcharged the people on projects such as the Greece Olympics and now the people who saw little windfall from the spending is saddled with the baby to take care.

BEIJING: A collection of photos featuring 1930s Chinese singer-actress Zhou Xuan fetched some 2.18 million yuan (S$445,000) at an auction in China, and set the record for the highest price ever procured for a photo collection in the country.
According to Huachen Auctions, which conducted the sale, the collection of 1,957 photographs originally belonged to Zhou.
It contains some 303 photographs depicting her private life, along with two commemorative photobooks gifted to her by the film studios she had worked with, which are believed to be the only copies ever printed.
Zhou achieved stardom after appearing as a singing girl in the 1937 film "Street Angel" and went on to act in 42 more films before she passed away in a mental asylum in 1957.
The life of the actress inspired the Hong Kong drama serials "Song Bird" in 1989 and "Zhou Xuan", which starred Hong Kong actress Cecilia Cheung in 2006.
